Great location and friendliest staff (and that in France)

What a fabulous location on the boulevard and we had rooms with partial sea view. the rooms (368 and 370) are a little dated, but the bed is incredible. In the early morning (4.30 large trucks started working outside of our room), which woke us up. What was the best of our stay were all people that work at this hotel. From the receptionist, to the cleaning ladies AND most memorable the breakfast staff. (and the breakfast was fab too)

Dear Guest, Thank you for the great review of our hotel! We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again very soon. Sincerely,

Nice Mercure Promenade Des Anglais- Dissapointing

My partner and i were there for 2 days. The location is very good. Other than this the hotel has very basic amenities, the hotel rooms are small and not in good condition. The shower is over the bath and the space is small. An old style of shower. There is no room service to order meals to your room so you have to be out to get something to eat. Upon arrival i asked the girl at the reception desk to freeze my icepack for my medication. When we checked out she gave me a completey thawed and soft icepack. When i asked her why it wasn't frozen, she literally just shrugged her shoulders and said she doesn't know. She didn't care that i was travelling with medication and that i had carefully explained to her when we checked in why i needed the icepack frozen. She didn't apologise either, was completely non-chalant despite the fact that i was clearly upset and anxious about my meds that i had to take on a flight with me. Her colleague then offered to run to the pharmacy to buy me a icepack. We expected a better quality stay and a better hotel experience but we were dissapointed. I would not recommend this hotel especially to older couples. We would rather pay more for a more comfortable stay. Tanya G South Africa

Happy with our stay — but not a hotel to rave about

The location is everything with this Mercure, which is one of three or four in Nice. It’s right on the promenade, one block from restaurants, a few minutes from the main shopping district. But it is past its prime: it is one part of a large building, a few decades old, that also houses the Ruhl casino and Le Meridien. The Mercure seems to have the lower floors while the Meridien has the better ones. The space is tight: the lobby is small and the breakfast room can be crowded, but the staff are good and the breakfast is good. For us, with one room for parents and an (inside, court-yard view) room for child, this was OK value on the Cote d’Azur. The risks in booking this hotel are: getting an inner-view room, having trouble with the noise from the bar on the ground floor, getting noise from ongoing work on the building (as at January 2023). We were comfortable here and were happy with our stay.

You can’t beat the location

Mixture of experience. Some staff were very nice and friendly, some were cold. Most of them are fluent in English, however, during the day that I need to check for attractions information the lady at the front desk had some challenge to speak English and unfortunately I do not speak French. On the last day when I had to retrieve my stored luggage from the hotel, the staff just led me to the storage room and left me alone without provide any help at all. I had to use one leg to stop the door from closing, moved other luggages away from blocking me and stretched my body and hand to reach to my luggage at the furthest of the storage room. This was the first time I experienced something like this to retrieve a luggage from a hotel. My booking for the last day was inclusive of breakfast but the hotel did not have a proper record for that and added the cost to the bill until I clarified.
