I had two incidents that just shows how this is not a 4-starts hotel. 1.) Check-in was open from 14:00. When we arrived to the reception at 14:10, the person couldn't understand my name, even after spelling it 10 times. I asked for a paper and a pen, the receptionist couldn't understand. Even when I was mimicking what I need. Then she asked for reservation number, I opened my phone, showed it to her. She JUST GRAB MY PHONE out of my hand and went to the office behind the reception WITH MY PHONE. She stayed their for 5 mins and when she came back I told her I want MY phone, reaching for it. All she said was "no no, reservation number". After some awkward, "give me my phone", "no no", I finally got my phone back and asked for a paper again. She finally gave me a piece of paper which seemed to me someone else's receipt....She was trying to find a pen for 2 mins, no pen (of course). Okay, I find one in my backpack, I wrote down my name and reservation number and gave it to her. Even after that she was keep asking for my phone, but I refused to let it go again. After this 15 mins absolute non-sense, my friend came over and asked in French what was wrong. Turned out that they have my reservation just fine, the room is just not ready. All she had to do was to tell me I should come back a bit later!!! I asked where I could find their restaurant because according to the website they had one; of course, their restaurant was closed. So I went out for a lunch, an hour later went back. Luckily the mobile-holder person was not around (I thought). At 15:15, they finally had my room ready and saw my reservation, they asked me if I wanted to pay now or when I leave. I HAVE ALREADY PAID, how can't they not see it..... 2.) After clarifying this, I was about to go to my room using one of the 5 elevators they had. After long 5 minutes, one finally came to bring me to the 8th floor. I learned it really fast that out of the 5 elevators, 3 weren't operating properly: it stopped at floors but it did not open the door. (fun for a person with claustrophobia) During my 4 days, I had to learn which elevator door works on my floor, or on 9 or 10, because I often had to walk a floor when the door didn't open on 8th floor. NON-SENSE. I could go on and on about smaller details which makes it obvious this hotel is not 4-starts but I believe my two points above more than enough to prove this.

Conference stay marred by lifts

I stayed in the hotel that was hosting the conference and it was generally good, with helpful staff. However, the lifts caused problems, as I was on the top 18th floor, and often had to wait so long for a lift to arrive, that I was late for key meetings. Others on floors 10 and above had the same experience, and some got stuck in the lifts.

Room smells bad with no ventilations. Room service can open the door and enter the room anytime without request and can see you naked. No varieties for breakfast. No leisure activities or entertainment tools. One of the worst experiences

Only cold water available in my bathroom during whole stay. Proposed solution by hotel's staff - technician visit, which never happened. Air-condition was producing some noise however, not at all cool or fresh air. That coupled with permanently closed window made a stay even more horrible (promised technician visit never happened). Empty minibar at the check in day. Room randomly equipped in toiletries. Danger, licking electric kettle in the room. Horribly cigarettes smelling toilet. Lack of single pen or piece of notice paper. Halls, elevators (very often broken), rooms and general facilities are old, dirty, and not maintained very well. Invoiced prices slightly differ (are lower) to charged from the credit card without any explanation or detailed online payment confirmation. Staff members were in general nice and friendly what unfortunately did not help to overdue any of the technical issues.
