« Poor promotion follow through »

I checked in asking for, and being promised the 30% member promotion reduction. On departure this was denied me my your very arrogant front desk clerk, Christian, because I had not conformed to all the fine print requirments of your promotion. Your people at the check out desk made me feel small and unwanted as a guest and loyal customer. I will in future avoid Accor hotels.

« Good due to the employees onsite compensating for the outdated rooms »

The Hotel staff is great, both in the restaurant as well as the general hotels staff are more than helpfull and are 100% compensating for the lack of investment done on the building and rooms (i had a dejavu moment when arriving as i stayed in the same type of room in 2006 in the Novotel in Abidjan, Ivory Coast and that room at that time was last refurbished prior the start of their civil war) but as said the employees compensate for this outdated accommodation. and i have much respect for that.

we received a room on the second floor, but after finding the elevator it turned out to be closed, upon returning to the reception we received information that this is the only elevator and it is closed - this information should be provided at check-in, especially since we had a lot of luggage with us, in finally, on a clear request, we managed to find a room on the ground floor for us, another unpleasant thing is the need to ask for a vaucher for a welcome drink, which we should receive as members of the loyalty program, the quality of the room's decor and its equipment indicates that the hotel has already had its great years of splendor, no safe, limited amount of cosmetics, uncomfortable (too soft) bed

4 nights in total. Room was fine, improvement are possible with the personnel (a lot of young people that look not entirely aware of the procedures, still nice and friendly). Here some example: - I call 2 times before arriving to the hotel for information related to my baby and it look like the communication in english was not so easy - we were looking for a beer at the bar at 23.30 but nobody was there (the bar is supposed to close at 00.00) - the option of the city breakfast at the bar was not known by the bar tender and we were able to charge on the room numbers only at the second day

We’ve used Novotel on our way down to the south of France every year since 2012. We were really impressed with our first stay then, and have made a point of staying in Aix-en-Provence, Dijon, Lyon and a few other locations on our way down south or back north. Sadly, this last occasion, was not a good experience. E had stayed in Lyon the night before, had bought food in the evening and then settled the bill in the morning with no problem. At Aix-en-Provence, I had checked in online. We met some friends at the bar and ordered some drinks and put them on our room. Before our drinks were brought to us, a young man approached and said there was a problem as no card had been allocated to our room and he could not serve the drinks until this was done. My bank card was in my room so I had to leave my family and friends to go back to the room and get the card. For some reason, I was unable to get back into my room because the key card no longer worked (it appears this was done deliberately as we’d already used both cards successfully). I had to go to the desk and ask them to reset the key, where they told me I had to allocate a bank card to my room. I told them I knew this and was trying to do just that. I eventually managed to get back into the room and get my wallet and allocated a card. Frankly it wasn’t good service and made me feel as though Novotel felt I was trying to getaway with not paying. This is the eighth year in a row we’ve used Novotel and I will think very carefully before carrying on this relationship. The room we stayed into was quite tired and smelled very musty. The staff did not seem bothered either. Novotel really need to pick their game up.

« Great hotel, lovely location, great staff »

We stayed for 7 nights and were very happy with the whole experience. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was clean, comfortable and well maintained, had air-con and s small fridge. We asked fro a quiet room away from the pool side and got exactly what we asked for. The inclusive breakfast was really good and set us up well for the day. The hotel is well appointed for access to both the old town (a 5 minute drive) and motorways and is in a quiet cul-de-dac surrounded by trees. We would definitely stay there again. The only tiny negative for me was that decaf coffee wasn't readily available.
