« Unhappy with the management »

Due to storm Dennis , my flight from London to Geneva on Saturday 15th February was cancelled ( as all the other flights that Saturday) so I arrived at the hotel the next day, Sunday 16th February, I have explained the above to the manager but they did not refund me the payment ,for the night I was unable to travel in spite of explaining to him the situation. No flexibility or understanding of the situation.

« A very normal, pleasant and expected stay »

Even though it's a bit far from Chamonix, getting around was easy using the buses. The hotel is a neat, comfortable and simple hotel. Nothing extraordinary here. The restaurant has amazing food for dinner. Try it out

Liked the quiet room at the back and the comfortable bed. And the pool and sauna. Downsides were no TV news channels in English and a slightly tired look about the place.

This hotel has barely 3 stars, all the amenities were outdated, old, purely maintained. The room was so unwelcoming with the dark brown colored walls, that made it even smaller and darker. The reception staff was unprofessional, it took us very long to check in and also they were not very helpful when I asked for different things. I could not also order room service, because you had only specific hours for that, but the staff did not give me another alternative, they were not proactive and hospitable at all. Overall I did not feel welcome in this hotel and will not return to it!

« The phrase « customer service » again is lost in translation... »

I simply don’t have the time nor the inclination to even explain my « experience », in the hope of improving your staffs attitude.... All I will say is Margot or what ever here name was needs severely educating and could also benifit from a personality transplant! After being told by her that my bank card (which happens to be a Black millionaires club card), would not work (not that she did not accept it... but that it WOULD be declined...) I had to INSIST that I wished to try it before one of my other cards... she was unbelievable rude and shouted at me... it will not work! I ignored her... I used my desired black card and “as if by magic” it worked.... Not even a sorry from the girl was said to me.... This is completely unacceptable and to be honest nothing but ignorance...

Lovely hotel and wonderful location. I have stayed many times. But this time I met a completely useless, lazy and incompetent reception lady. Cassandra I think. She and the young assistant NEVER smiled and was unable to help me. USELESS. Bar and restaurant staff excellent. Shame....

Leisure travel. Technical stop. No expectations. Dinner very good. Hotel to be renewed. Corridors at ground level totally scratched. Painting in the rooms very dark and poor lighting. Didn't like at all to see dogs in the restaurant area. I like animals but not where foods and drinks are served. No excuses.

We have been staying at the hotel for 3 nights during the Christmas holidays and left before the 3rd night as it's nothing to do in the area if you have no car. In our opinion the experience was poor for a 4-stars hotel. The building overall is required renovation, despite the bathroom in our room was refreshed. The sauna is pretty old and also needs to be refreshed. There is no sound protection made so you can hear clearly from the hallway what happens in rooms. It was a pity the hotel has almost no connection with Chamonix city center. It's just a couple of buses (5 times a day, no strict schedule) and a train (once an hour) going to the city, all the stations in 15 minutes away from the venue. And you need to walk all the way along a road (no pedestrian zone is provided).

« Good breakfast, otherwise disappointing »

Breakfast was great, but I'm sorry to say that the rest of the stay did not meet our expectations. There were numerous issues we brought to the attention of the front desk and management and nothing was done about them. None of these were over-the-top requests, they were all very basic, such as fixing whatever was causing a high pitched whistling sound in our room that seemed to be caused by the HVAC or plumbing systems, yet no one even attempted to do anything about these issues. My wife was bed-ridden on New Year's Eve due to a severe injury suffered on the ski slopes when her snowboard instructor fell on her and cut into her leg down to her bone with his snowboard, and we were told that there was no ice in the entire building that she could use per her doctor's instructions to ice the wound. We were also told that there was no room service on NYE and our only option for dinner was to go to the hotel restaurant. I attempted to book NYE dinner before the 1830 deadline posted by the hotel and was told that dinner was no longer available and we requested it too late. I went to speak to the restaurant manager and explained our unfortunate situation was told that they would not accommodate us and therefore we had no food option other than for me to go out and bring back sushi from an outside vendor. This is totally unacceptable and we expect better from an Accorhotels venue. I travel often for work and have stayed at many of your hotels from Sofitel to IBIS to Mercure, and never expected such an inconsiderate experience. Additionally, the accommodations were in great need of a renovation and not accurately depicted online. The bathroom was obviously renovated, so someone at the hotel is aware that the accommodations are old and in need of an upgrade. The rest of the room needs that same treatment. There were no towels provided down at the pool area, lockers required a euro to use them but we weren't told this in advance so we were down there without any change on us when lockers should be provided free of charge, and the "hot" tub was maintained at a barely warm temperature. Additionally, the parking lot was not cleared of snow which turned to ice quickly a day after it snowed. This was never cleared and no salt or sand was put down, making the walk down the stairs to our car very dangerous. You had elderly customers, many children there, and my wife is pregnant. However no one seemed to care about anyone's safety here. Totally unacceptable.

This was my first stay at this hotel, and it was disappointing. I tried to change hotels during my stay but couldn’t as the room was prepaid. The room was very dark, and with the sofa bed open for my daughter there was no space to walk around. When we asked at reception to change room, we were told that all rooms were the same. The safe in the room was faulty and we had to call reception to have it opened. they could not fix it and We were asked to check with maintenance the following day. At dinner, I ordered a burger at the restaurant. I specifically asked if it had any pork which I didn’t eat. the menu didn’t show any, but I just wanted to make sure. When it arrived, guess what: it had a big piece of bacon on top! When I asked the waiter, he wasn’t very happy and made me feel as if it were my mistake! He then took the burger away to the kitchen, removed the bacon, and brought the same burger back! When I complained, he seemed very annoyed, and reluctantly accepted to make another one. In terms of the hotel itself: the location is not ideal if you want to go to the center. The closest bus comes only 4 times a day, and the next one which is a good 10 minute walk (uphill) comes once every half hour. If you want a taxi, that will cost you 25-30 euros each way - assuming you can get one in busy Chamonix! My feedback to the hotel is that they really should consider having a shuttle. Other hotels closer to the center have them. The steam room was out of service for 3 days out of our 5 day stay. I met the hotel manager as I was doing the check-out and shared some of this feedback. To be fair, he seemed genuinely concerned and wished we had spoken to him earlier. On the positive side, some of the staff members were very nice, in particular the breakfast chef, and the breakfast waitress. They genuinely care for the wellbeing of customers and made us feel welcome.

Overall a good experience. In general Mercure hotels I have stayed in are slightly more luxurious, but based on the price I would recommend this hotel. Location is good, near city centre and free parking. Staff is nice and helpful. Breakfast is very simple.

« Good hotel, good staff, overall just good »

The hotel is nice, rooms are well decorated, location is good, staff is friendly. Not really up to normal Mercure standard in my opinion, but slightly cheaper so price wise it is worth the money. Breakfast was a bit poor. Overall opinion is positive and I would recommend the hotel for people who are looking for a hotel in this price range.

Vanya if I remember well didn't do a check in properly. As my boyfriend and myself are in Hospitality business as well we can see this. He didn't explain how the hotel is functioning and when we arrived in the room there wasn't any menu for the room service or for the breakfast in bed. On Sunday morning we were woke up by someone coming in the bedroom without knocking. The safe locker broke up and locked itself on safe mode which is when someone is doing 3 wrong passeports I guess but we were out for the day so this is also strange. For the breakfast in bed of Saturday the bread was from at least the day before, it was hard. I think the price is expensive knowing that when we arrived of Friday the pool was closed (but we knew about that and the opening was Saturday) but on Saturday the sauna wasn't working either and we weren't aware of that. Also, when we arrived at the spa it was really peaceful we were 3 couples but a family with 4 kids (from 2 to 15 years old) came and disturbed the whole thing shouting, splashing around and coming IN the Jacuzzi (which is a 2 or 3 seats) while another couple was inside and the parents did NOTHING. To enhance their reputation the hotel could be more careful about those small details and react faster when something is not working. and moreover they could put the prices a little bit lower considering the situation of the spa. I really wouldn't recommend the hotel or come back there. The only 2 persons here who are doing a good job is a young and blond girl who was really helpful for the ski rental and the head receptionist.

Good stay, the hotel has potential. The view on Montain is amazing. The restaurant is very good. Some point to really really improve : the swimming pool: - the water is way too cold. It has been said at the reception that it is at 27degrees, it is clearly below. Everybody is complaining of ir, even on TripAdvisor. The water of the jaccuzi is kind of ok, but its water stream is cold ! I have never seen so cold water in an Accor hotel... Which is not cool when getting back from cold outside... The sauna was broken ( like this for months according to TripAdvisor)... - the personal at the breakfast could be a little more polite and less rude. It would have been great to get a shower instead of bath. The room was nice and quiet, i like the redesign of it. The bed was very confortable ! I wish to use my drink voucher for a cocktail but it is restricted to too few choice. Overall good stay with area of improvement.
