« Could do better »

Staff are generally unfriendly not helpful and the restaurant staff need to be taught how to treat customers properly our main dish was served before our first course but the waiter insisted one putting them down so we had to call a waitress over. Service was generally very slow and the food could have been better. If a hotel offers tea and coffee facilities in the room why only supply one of each and paper cups with wooden sticks!!! The room was not cleaned properly before or during our stay. It’s a pity because the location is good parking is fine views over the sea interesting and the hotel has been refurbished since our last stay but it would have helped if the reception had been clearly signposted including which desk was for the Novotel and which for the Ibis.

« Great location, poor facilities and appalling lack of customer service »

No parking facility by the hotel, but plenty where the Ibis is! Building work going on in the car park. As soon as we arrived, no welcoming message but the receptionist demanded my credit card for a €50 deposit in case of breakages (we had booked one of the top bedrooms in the hotel!).We were told that we had free minibar.Got to our room, pervading smell of bleach , watched the sunset and then decided to have a drink from the minibar, opened the door and it was empty! Rang reception, receptionist doubted my words but said he would ask the restaurant to sort it...30mns later still no drinks, rang again, once again told they would send some promptly, 30mns later still nothing so we left the hotel to find a restaurant as the food on offer at the hotel was very poor (2 restaurants listed on the website but only 1 open at nighttime!).The following morning we came down to breakfast 9.20, nobody in the lobby so we made our way to a table facing the beautiful beach and the sea, only to be told that we could not sit there, then we were told to sit in the farthest corner possible, facing the roof of the pool, and right next to the door to the kitchen.As the staff were clearing breakfast it was a constant back and forth through the door which the staff opened by kicking the door with force so they could go through whilst carrying their heavy trays (rather than pushing the door open with their backs and walking backward into the room...).They then started to set up the tables for 9.30am! So that made me even more angry/upset that they had refused us the table with the view, which is the main attraction of staying at that hotel!!! Also it was my husband’s birthday.I had made the booking over the phone with your reservation centre (took over 1hr to book 2 hotels for 1 night!!!) and asked if something “special” could be done to mark the occasion when we got to our room.Nothing was ever mentioned, let alone done! So I was extremely upset that the lack of personal attention, kindness, civility had ruined our special celebrations.I stopped at reception when we checked out and spoke to Matteo who was the 1st person to show me courtesy.He sounded very concerned by my comments and said he would speak to his manager straight away....But to date, I have not even received a message of apology, let alone a recompense for ruining my husband’s birthday celebrations....We were not made to feel welcome at all, appalling service for a 4 star hotel!!!

We've been coming regularly to this hotel for over 18 years. Given that it has become almost a family tradition, we will probably continue doing so in the future. Basically for the location. The place has recently undergone a badly needed revamp; structurally it's much better than it was. However, there's a new, much younger staff. Efficient and polite, but little passion. Hard to put a finger on it, but you now get the feeling that the only thing that counts for the management is the bottom line. No effort necessary really since everyone comes for the view of the sea and the place is always full. The thrill is gone. Dommage.

we used to stay at the hotel every year when our children were young and we appreciate the modernisation of the hotel. We thought the room pretty but a bit impractical, we thought the breakfast was good and the reception efficient

« Nice hotel but poor service from reception staff »

The hotel venue was lovely but the service was poor and not what we expected. I had to request a baby cot for my son on 3 separate occasions before it was delivered. Reception staff were curt and spoke under their breath when I complained. I also think it’s ridiculous that there is no food available in the bar or restaurant outside of strict lunch and dinner hours. We ordered room service but couldn’t have what we ordered as only half the menu was available. The pool opens at 9am which is ridiculously late for a hotel. The only polite service came from the chefs in the restaurant at breakfast.

Generally speaking we had a good experience with the people working there. A special attention for the team at the restaurant. Very good food and an excellent service. On an other hand we were disappointed with the bedrooms. The renovations done recently are really cheap and don't really improve the level of the hotel. Very small bedrooms with a mediocre equipment. The interior designer in charge is certainly not a top guy. One good point : the good quality of the beds/mattresses.

« Upgrade is terrific and food is better. Perhaps lighting in bedrooms can be augmented and situation of toilet roll holder makes entering toilet very difficult »

Very relaxing in attractive room. Staff much better than the previous 20:years. Accueil staff weakest. Public areas good but offer in Ibis bR better than Novotel.

« Not perfect but 5 stars always..... »

My first stay at Novotel in Le Touquet was 20 years ago. Something magical happened then and I fell in love with the place. Since then I have visited the hotel many times. I have traveled a lot the last 40 +years because of my job with an airline. In my experience there are a few hotels on this Planet that are perfect. This one is not but it is magical for me. That is why I keep coming back year after year....

Travelled from Dubai, anniversary stay and attending a memorial service. No celebration for us even though we told hotel via booking. Spa unhelpful. Poor tea and coffee offering in room. No help re getting towels for pool. Nobody seemed keen to sell us spa treatments. We had €1000 budgeted to spend on treatments. Poor service and un friendly reception staff. Spent €7000 on business class flights to visit France and was recommended Novotel as regulars with Fairmont and Sofitel. Complained and got 2000 points which is poor. Not happy.

Our room was recently renovated, comfortable and facing the sea so the view was wonderful. The only minus was the tight access to the toilet, sliding door in such a small space would work better. The restaurant also has a sea view and was wonderful for all meals. As for the spa, we only tried the pool, but were surprised that slippers were not included.

We arrived on Friday evening. Went immediately to the restaurant for the wonderful fish buffet. We entered the room around eleven pm. A suite for two adt and two kids. We noticed immediately that the room had not been cleaned. Small pieces of glass were scattered on the floor. One member of staff came to clean with a brush. The day after, with the day light we noticed glass was still there and that the window was very dirty. Due to a misunderstanding between the reception and the cleaning staff we had to ask twice more to fix the situation. The hotel is nice, location beautiful, staff helpful. We were very disappointed that the cleaning level of a 4 star hotel in a suite was so poor. Considering we were travelling with kids it was even dangerous entering the room at night and waking up with glass on the floor the day after. Really unacceptable for an hotel of such standard.
