We booked this hotel for its central position and most importantly CAR PARKING. Unfortunately on our first day we were given less than 24 hours notice to move our cars out of the car park so that Tour de France teams could move in. The management were not very helpful in suggesting alternative parking or providing any recompense for any extra charges Incurred. Presumably part of the fees we paid the hotel initially included a portion for parking. We were extremely cross at this unacceptably discourteous behaviour. As a result we would not recommend this hotel to others. We booked the hotel back in July and were never informed that parking would not be available, if we had known this we wouldn’t have booked this hotel. The room was acceptable in size and the position was very good.

Have stayed before. Well situated near to the town, about 5 minutes walk away. Plenty of free parking on site. We had a privilege room, a bit smaller than some Mercures but fine. Staff very good. Breakfast, despite the covid problems, was very good, extremely well organised and the full fare was available. Look forward to our next stay.

We booked this hotel a week before our stay and booked it because it had private parking. We asked for a parking space when we booked.The day before our arrival we were informed that parking was not available as the Tour de France was passing through and that was to be given priority. We did find parking in a public car park - and had to pay 15 euro for it- but were disappointed we were not told when we booked The service from Accor is usually much better than that, especially as we are Gold Loyalty card holders.

We booked your hotel because it had private parking and I asked for a space when we booked- almost a week before our arrival. I was therefore disappointed to receive an email the day before our arrival to say car parking was not available as the Tour De France was passing through. If we had been told this at the beginning we would not have booked. We managed to find a space in the public car park- and had to pay 15.60 EUR- but that is not the service we have come to expect from Accor hotels, especially for Gold Loyalty card holders.

Want went well: Location of the hotel was superb. The meal we had in the restaurant in the evening was very good , as was the service. The break fast was also good. The precautions taken re Covid were thorough and very reassuring. Overall we were very pleased we selected the hotel for our stay. Even better if: We had requested an early check in and were disappointed to find that our rooms were not ready on our arrival, although alternative rooms were found and the fee for the early book in was returned (the staff were helpful in that respect). Major disappointment: The mechanism in the wash basin was completely broken and unusable. We contacted reception and a technician was dispatched to resolve the problem. He could not fix the problem but did remove the mechanism so that the basin could be used i.e. for the cleaning of teeth. The following day the maid who cleaned the room was unaware of the problem and put the mechanism back in the basin with the result that once again the wash basin could not be used. We contacted reception and a very helpful member of staff attempted to resolve the problem and later called for a second colleague and between them they managed to remove the mechanism again (this was just before 2300 hours). The most disappointing aspect of this situation was that the technician was aware that the problem had not be resolved on Friday afternoon and yet he failed to report the problem, so that on the Saturday evening we were faced with the same problem again. Overall we were pleased with our stay at the hotel and the staff we contacted were polite and helpful in attempting to sort out the problem with the basin; it is just disappointing that there was a problem in the first place (which was never properly resolved).

Well situated hotel. Overall good service. Small Windows in room and very short bed with a shelf over, where you Can hurt you head, when sitting up in bed Reading. We would recomend to move that shelf.

Despite the situation regarding COVID-19, we did not find our room (203) particularly clean. For example there was hair in the bath from a previous occupant. Also, the shower was difficult to control in terms of water temperature. So one shower taken was cold, the next too hot.

We had an excellent 5 nights. We were very pleased with the service we got in the restaurant and bar from the staff and we were impressed with the precautions taken in light of the Covid 19 problems. It is some years since we have stayed at the Mercure, La Rochelle and the only disappointment was the smallness of the privilege room compared to others we have stayed in in recent years. Other than that it was good to be back in a location which is one of our favourites.
