« It was truly am exceptional stay! »

« nice with some bad experiences »

Dear Mr Bertho Dear Patrick We thank you for the beautiful room you gave us. The service in the room was excellent; for the cleaning and the evening turn-over. Your new chef, Mr Stephan Remon, he is an excellent asset for your hotel! We know his work from Sofitel Budapest. We had a few un-pleasant moments during our stay, some of the staff were very cru, I did my complain to Ms Magali, Guest relation, but I’m not sure if she really care. I told her “When the cat is away, the mice are dancing on the table" Finally when we paid our bill, I found an cost that I really did’t know about. When I came to the reception desk they could not give me an explanation neither. It was “only” €19,80. If they tried with me, are they doing this also with other clients? Sincerely François @ René

Late Summer break - Chose Corsica due to short flight time from UK - stayed at Sofitels before and this one lived up to our expectations - convenient for Ajaccio but out of town - good on site facilities and helpful friendly staff

« Expected a bit more customer care »

I was overall satisfied with the Sofitel but thought they could have better hosted their guests, for example providing a complimentary shuttle given its relative isolation, providing USB charging ports, complimentary small items like matches, lighters, and would have added the finishing touches to earn a luxury label.

« Good service, staff & panoramas but hotel needs renovation as it's not up to brand/luxury standards »

Excellent service and helpful staff especially Ms. Maya who helped us change our original room which was too small. General location, great panoramic views, good breakfast, pool & a cosy beach. However, the standard rooms are too small for a 5 star luxury hotel brand like Sofitel and they need to be renovated. Reception, the Spa and corridors are not up to usual Sofitel luxury brand standards - therefore, the price (value for money) does not correspond to the general quality of the product.

« The best in Ajaccio »

Sofitel is a good upscale hotel in ajaccio. It has beautiful views from the room overlooking the bay. Decent breakfast, friendly staff and family friendly facilities. The waiters, receptionists and concierge are great team members. Hotel could improve on the below: Very basic room service menu after 10! Just cold cuts and cheese! A five star hotel like sofitel, especially in a high season when the rates are too high, they should consider offering a bit more varieties like salads or sandwiches in room service during night menu when guests are coming from time zones and countries. They should have a chef at nite, when they charge a min of 500 euros per nite in high seasons. I lost my branded cap at the hotel terrace bar. I forgot it on our sofa it at night and enquired about it next day. They couldn’t find it till now. A resort with fully secured access and secluded from public, they could have checked on CCTV or security cameras to know who got the cap. They didn’t take any initiatives for searching it and I feel the hotel doesn’t care about safety and security matters! It’s not about a cap but a security concern in a luxury hotel that charge min 300-500 euros per night!

« Calm and relaxing »

Welcoming atmosphere, extremely clean and well maintained amenities. High quality food, however in spite of big variety of breakfast dishes i wish there would be slight variations in them, like different vegetables stew, etc on daily basis in breakfast buffet. Well maintained pool, and gym amenities. However, twice during our stay pool was closed for maintenance well after 8am opening time, and reception staff would't be aware of when it would be open. It's slightly inconvenient if your routine include swimming before breakfast. Lunch and dinner are excellent quality. Again, for a week stay I wish there would be more variety. Concierge service for booking trip and daily adventures were very efficient and knowledgeable. Overall, we enjoyed our week stay.

Excellent place to enjoy the sea and sun. Building is outdated and needs renovation. Hotel’s staff is not good at all - not welcoming the guests, not pleasant experience with front desk to get car, book the restaurant etc.

« Really nice hotel but unfortunately poor service to be five star »

The hotel is definitely not a five star hotel, very much because of the poor service. The location is wonderful, the classic room is rather spacious, nicely decorated and with really comfortable beds. The big salt water pool and the small beach are above expectation, though the beach is small. The pool deck is large and has plenty of deck chairs (those could, however, been of a better quality, they were not five star standard!). The food in the restaurants was very good and nicely presented. Both inside and outside lounges are very cool and elegant, and having a drink in the sun set at the garden/outside lounge area is a treat – if you get the drink! And here you have the hotel’s big challenge that made me and my travelling friends (we were nine in the group staying for one week) both disappointed, frustrated and very irritated. The service was extremely slow in the bar, the pool area, and in both restaurants. We had breakfast, dinner and lunch in the main restaurant (a disappointment was that the table setting was the same for lunch and dinner - you would have expect of a five star hotel a least table linen for the dinner!), and for lunch and dinner, from ordering to getting the food on the table (one course) it could take more than 45 minutes. One day at lunch we mentioned that we had an appointment at 14.00 (we arrived at 12.30) – still we had to wait and wait (also after talking to the maître d’ about the problem but no action was taken!). The same thing happened in the bar restaurant where we had several lunches. From ordering to getting drinks and food it could take up to an hour. And back to the outside lounge area, drinks were even forgotten to be served! This is not what you expect from a five star hotel. Even though the food was good, the prices for both food and drinks are stiff and with this kind of poor service, exaggerated. Claiming to be a five star hotel and having such a high price level, the service must be impeccable and it’s not. I don’t want to blame the personnel, they were kind and pleasant and tried hard but seemed to be inexperienced and and having their first job with no training. The total lack of supervision, maître d’ and management throughout the hotel was astonishing. I've seen similar complaints on Tripadvisor and what’s really surprising is that the management of the hotel and of the Sofitel group have not to picked up these obvious challenges the hotel has before the high season started. Also, when checking out the hotel had charged us 200 Euro, 18% more than we should have been charged - mainly because of lack of a good billing system in the restaurant for breakfast, dinner and lunch. The receptionist was not very kind and did not offer any excuse for the mistake. All nine of us really liked the hotel and, despite what my review might indicate, we want to come back. However, to do so I would like to see reviews during the coming year that tells another story that the hotel really lives up to the its five stars.

« Horrible customer service/Nice grounds »

I chose this hotel because of the Sofitel brand and because I wanted to spend my Birthday in beautiful location in a luxury hotel. While the grounds were great the room and the customer service was seriously lacking at the hotel. I had dinner in the restaurant one night and the servers were very neglectful. It was like I was not in the restaurant! The concierge and the front desk service was amazing.

« Beautiful hotel, but a need to upgrade service level »

The hotel is absolutely beautiful, and we would love to come back. However, in some areas the service did not fit with the price level of the hotel even if the staff in general was friendly. Some examples: 1) Wrong pricing on the bills on one meal, and charged breakfasts we did not order. Had to control everything, no compenastions offered for mistakes. 2) Too slow delivery of food and drinks, the staff was not always enough "on". 3) Should have a more healthy express breaksfast offer, not everyone likes high carbo croissants for breakfast or a big buffet. 4) Mostly the food was good, but sometimes not good enough and not for such a price level: Example: Cecar salat with very dry chicken and not chrispy croutons. Maybe the price lever could have been reduced on some types of food to more in line with expectancy. The soft drinks could have been reduced from 7 to 5 euro, and we would probably not have bought in the shop. We can for sure afford it, but it exceeds a critical level when it feels too much when we stay for one week and drink a lot. 5) Needs one more therapist in the Spa do do strong massage. 6) The guy in the training center could have been more active asking if we needed help.

« Beautiful location. Awful noises. Not according to a 5 stars hotel »

The location is certainly incredible . But in my opinion you cannot have a five-star hotel On the landing and taking off path of all the Planes come in I’m going, during the planes Carmen I’m going do you are in the night in the early morning night and early morning. We were not aware of this condition. it should be described. I stayed at many Sofitel’s ( Rome, New York, Montevideo, Vienna and Buenos Aires). I always book a classic room. This time, it was below standard. On the plus side: the location and the personnel. All of them nice, helpful and very courteous. I hope to have a better experience on my next Sofitel at Saint Petersburg in August.

« A week vacation »

This is a great location and within a fair distance from Ajaccio by car .The rooms are fine but not really very modern .Staff have been very nice but sometimes lacking of seniority.Overall a very enjoyable place with the advantage of having access to a so called a private beach .

« A lovely resort spoilt by poor air conditioning »

We found the resort great, for the most part. The location was outstanding, facilities were excellent, breakfast very good. But what a shame that something couldn't have been done about the air-conditioning in our room (154), which was almost non-existent. During the hot weather that prevailed at the time, this made the room quite uncomfortable. Opening the door to the very pleasant balcony wasn't an option, because this only let the mosquitoes enter.
