I enjoyed the hospitality, the service, the excellent breakfast and the facility as a whole as for location I would have expected not to have ibis Mercure and Novotel within 200 meters of each other a better selection of location around the city would have been better

« Too hot - Otherwise, good stay »

The stay itself was eventless - nothing drew too much attention. However, we had the idea that the hotel had AC. The hotel had only heating, with the option of merely turning off. Our room, with 3 people (me, wife and daughter) got extremely hot. The staff suggested we open our window - and then we had a lot of noise from the airport and traffic. The heat in the room was very uncomfortable. I honestly don't know how other people deal with it - we were 3 Brazilians (from a hot weather country, min temps around 18 C on winter, 22-24C on summer), having issues with a room too warm during Portuguese winter (min temps around 3-7).

Easy checking in process, very friendly staff. Spacious rooms and bathrooms, plenty of storage in the room and bathroom. The water pressure of the shower could have been a bit more stronger, but only minor remark. Super lovely breakfast with many healthy options.

We arrived late evening 3 couples after a long drive only to struggle with our luggage and be confronted by a man and woman at reception that were not service oriented. the man especially was not interested and neither offered any welcoming whatsoever! they also requested for the city tax to be paid in cash upfront which we found astonishing as this was not requested by any f the hotels through our trip with Accor and others until we checked out! They said to park across the road but did not give us any warning on the limitations of where you can park. As it was late , dark and not reading Portuguese, we parked one bay into the Taxi stand and got a fine the next morning of EURO 130.00. Our bedrooms had the sofabeds pulled out unnecessarilly and when we contacted reception they said that they did not know how to put them back and we would have to wait till the next day. The next day nothing happened. Based on this and the initial attitude we refused to utilise any of the facilities that is breakfast, dinner or our welcome drinks. Very disappointing as I have never experienced this in any of the Accor hotels in any of our other travels.

Receptionists at the check-in counter need more training on how to greet and deal with customers. e.g. no smile, not enthusiastic enough with customer dealings, very laid back and unwelcoming. Also, I was unable to contact the reception from our room as there was an issue with the phone line. So, I had to walk down to talk to them and made a request to provide some tea bags as there was none provided. Person {a girl} on duty on 7/1/20 evening promised to send me some tea bags to my room but they never arrived. So, I went to reception again on 8/1/20 morning to find a tea bag. Which I thought was unacceptable. Also, a man on duty on 8/1/20 morning was rude and his attitude is abrupt. I organised a hotel pick-up to go to the airport on 8/1/20. Since the pick up time provided by the company was too late, I asked this man if he could call the service provider to change the pick up time. His answer was, "no, absolutely not ( very harshly). This is the time you will be picked up and there is no change to this arrangement", So, I explained to him, since it is an international flight, we needed to be at the airport at least 2 hours earlier and insisted to make a call to the service provider to pick us up earlier. He hesitantly called them and abruptly 'told' me to 'go' and pick up the phone at a corner of the room to talk to the service provider. I was shaken. His attitude was totally unacceptable and his reaction to my polite and reasonable request was way below what a customer would have expected from a receptionist working for a well recognised hotel brand. As a member of the Accor Live Limitless, and a unit owner of the Accor chain in Australia, I found it difficult to ignore this kind of attitude from a staff member who is employed to serve their customers. I regret not talking to him to express my concerns about his behaviour then and there.

« Confortable staying and suitable ubication »

We stayed 3 nights, two adults and two kids (5 and 3) in the executive room. The room is comfortable, quiet and spacious. The room was cleaned every day, replacing towels and shits. Although the location is not central, it is close to two metro stations: Sao Sebastian and Placa do Spanha, both achievable by foot. Room service can be better, it does not include too many options. The breakfast was very good. Special thanks to Joao at the reception (young guy during morning shifts, we hope we spelled his name correctly). He gave us great info during our stay (e.g., shuttles, discounts, recommendations, etc.). For a family with relative small kids, there are not many options in the game room, but there is a great option to take the free shuttle from the hotel to the aquarium or to Pavellhon Du Conocimiento (thanks Joao!!).

« Staff was very friendly and the beds were extremely comfortable. »

The staff was very friendly and helpful. When I left a bag at the hotel a few days before checking in the staff was very kind. There were two negatives, one was the noise from planes, the other was that my wife became ill, after eating a salad in the restaurant. Beyond the negatives we enjoyed our stay, the breakfast was excellent with good choices of both hot and cold food.
