I just can not believe it. Travelling with a young family, asking over the phone a connected room...done Prices ...in line with a four star hotel. Thank god that we show up middle of the day. Hotel totally out dated....70’s Dirty Stained Carpet with bleach stains, communicated door had a fight with Jim Morrison on a bad day. Honestly, a total disgrace, we turned around and found minutes later a five stars, same price and very decent. I do not recommend, I fact I recommend for the Hotel Mercure to be closed and demolished. With a young family, a total horror to think that we could have show up late that day and left with no option....scary . Group ACCOR do something.....disgraceful....

Dear Sir D., The majority of our guests appreciate our friendly and helpful staff. You on the other hand practically tossed your room keys at our Front Desk Assistant even though she’d been nothing but helpful and efficient. We agree that our décor is looking a bit tired and we are eagerly awaiting renovations. But I can assure you that, no, our carpeting does not date back to the 1970s. Over the phone I encouraged you to book a Privilege category family room with a king size bed and living room area large enough to accommodate the two cots you requested. As I recall, you were adamant about wanting two entirely separate connecting rooms. As it occurs, we only have Standard category connecting rooms. It is indeed a shame that you were so upset by a bleach stain that you did not seem to notice the large corner room with a harbor view. You also make no mention of the 50% discount on the second room or that the cots were in place when you arrived despite checking in less than 30 minutes after booking. When you came back downstairs only moments after arriving, it was clear to me that you were determined to check out in a huff. You left us no chance to show you a different pair of connecting rooms or a Privilege family room, which you would likely have found more aesthetically pleasing. If you demand five-star perfection, I think you will agree that it is far easier to simply book a five-star hotel at the outset instead of booking a four-star and expecting a five-star room. Should we have been lucky enough to welcome Jim Morrison in our hotel, we probably would have enshrined any evidence of his passage. We did have Pete Doherty once and he was unusually well-behaved. Was reasonably pleased. Decent room. Good shower. Excellent breakfast. Two things disappointed me. I checked in on line and therefore expected just to pick up my key on arrival but was asked to fill in my details again. Secondly our room lacked sockets. There was none my side of the bed to charge phones.

« A practical stay with a very pleasant staff »

The hotel room was very conveniently located downtown and had all the facilities (including a very clean fitness room) expected. The extra (coffee and drinks) in the privilege room were well appreciated and justified the price difference with the standard room. The staff was very nice and attentive. However the room could have been cleaner: it was smelly, could have been better vacuumed, bathroom and toilets could be cleaner, dirty window.

« Short stay in city centre. »

Your friendly and proactive reception team made our short stay quite pleasurable. Our room was quiet and the beds were reasonably comfortable. We have never liked foam pillows however and a choice of something with natural fibre would have been better. A large bottle of mineral water in a glass bottle would have impressed us more that the small plastic one, especially as it was not offered on our second day. The garage however was a bonus and easy to access and use. Being quite light eaters at breakfast, we opted to take this in a local bar and wonder if a similar option of a cafe and croissant deal in your café would have been acceptable to us. The price of €18 each for breakfast was not an option we could afford. We have stayed in this hotel during the last 40 years and are pleased that the atmosphere and attention to clients needs is now an active part of your regime. Best Wishes Kenneth

I stayed at the Hôtel Mercure Caen Centre Port de Plaisance as my parents (B.) were staying there when my father was taken seriously ill in Caen and I had travelled to assist them. I would like to place on record my thanks for the care and attention given by your staff to my mother while my father was hospitalized. Both have now returned home to Montgardon and are recuperating.

Generally good but inconsistent breakfast in the room (sometimes not as ordered), particularly good US receptionist but a French receptionist didn't listen and answered randomly when spoken with! Great guy in the bar. No chair in the room on arrival but quickly dealt with.

« Excellent city centre hotel »

One night stay in the city centre met all my expectations. As ever with Mercure hotels, a warm welcome was received along with the voucher for my welcome drink. The bedroom was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast buffet style was again excellent. Underground car parking (12 euros) ensured no worries about my car. I will return to this hotel

« A bit disapointing »

Had just stayed at the Mercure in Cherbourg the night before...and had a lovely room with view and big windows and free parking . It was also cheaper than your hotel. We found our room very dark and depressing and one very minimal window...also the lighting was so dim my husband could not read his book. Bed was very comfortable and staff polite and helpful. Except night concierge did not give us a ticket to get out of the car park in the morning. Thank you anyway Maggie S.

I have to say our one night stay at this hotel was a pleasure. We had plenty of everything in our room for hot drink making , a nice thick dressing gown, slippers, a bath and a shower. Breakfast was fresh, hot and plentiful. Location was ideal for exploring the town.
