Stayed often due to location and family nearby. Eat in the restaurant for dinner with friends and the food has sadly dropped in standard, very basic and poor quality ingredients . Never took the breakfast as its normally below average and judging by the quality of the food at dinner this would not have improved. Really wish this can be impoved as now we will not eat there anymore .

The hotel is decent for a 3* property. It does lack a decent restaurant as the food we ate there was at the lowest level. Service in the restaurant was weird as The food was delivered to the table but we had to go to the counter to pay .. Room is of a good size, well equipped and really appreciated the USB plug. Horrible pillows but cozy overall. The cleaners did a good job however Housekeeping supervisor knocked at least 3 times on the day of our departure. Polite reception but not the most knowledgeable for the surroundings. Can not complain overall as I got a pretty decent rate so I would say it was a good value for the money.

« A little disappointing »

Food was of variable quality and restaurant food was overpriced considering the quality. Evening staff had no idea whatsoever about what was available. Hotel was generally a bit on the tawdry side with hardly a single picture anywhere to brighten the ambiance and give the establishment character. Staff were generally exceptionally friendly and helpful. But reception desk staff sometimes forgot to mention about the need to register vehicle number causing great inconvenience subsequently in getting penalty refunded. No face flannels in rooms and on one day tea, coffee, etc not replaced. All in all disappointing given the hotel's four stars and the price.

« Very convenient for my business trip. »

Overall, it was a convenient and pleasant stay. My only criticism is that the toilet really needed a good deep-clean! They was a significant amount of brown lime-scale all around the underside of the rim. I noticed this because there was no toilet brush and I was cleaning the toilet using toilet paper. The light fitting in the toilet also looked like it had had a hasty repair.

« Uncomfortable beds and very noisey air con/heating »

Not a good experience other low cost hotels are much better the Toilet smelt of cigarette smoke, the air con was very noisey, beds are comfortable and pillows need replacing.

« friendly, but air condition unit noise in rooms still an issue »

Staff are helpful but issues remain with the air condition units in rooms suddenly coming on between 11pm and 5 am; resulting in disrupted sleep, even when turn OFF. This has happened to me on two occasions and to others in my party, resulting in those involved advising my business (Morrison Utility Services) not to use the Novotel. Each time it is reported at reception, it is treated as an isolated issue, and a promise made to tell the "maintenance team" No refund of any part of the bill or goodwill dispute the disturbed sleep. Please take this feedback seriously and do something meaningful about the issues.

« Nice hotel, could do with TLC »

Thus is a nice hotel with a great reception. The rooms are a bit tired. Paint on walls scuffed and stained, floors in rooms dirty, bathroom had limescale stains. Good WiFi, comfy bed, but duvet cover torn. Chair and sofa in room tatty. Good ammeneties, tea coffee soap etc. Rooms need TLC by staff asap .

« Overcharged »

I have been extremely overcharged. If I had not picked up this admin error it would have gone unnoticed and unresolved It happened because I was forced to use fast check out (no one was available on reception at 05.30am when I left) and as such the money was simply taken without any discussion of charges/payments I regularly use Novotel - and this Novotel in particular - but this error now has me questioning whether I will again and wondering if I have previously had the same admin error and not noticed it..... not a good experience at all

Our stay was absolutely first class following a bad experiance at . another hotel in Stevenage. it ws such a welcome to walk in to your hotel which was warm clean and very welcoming. the staff made us feel at home and were so helpful. the romm was of top standard clean spacious and was more than we could have expected. the price was amazing as it was a very late booking. allow me however to make a few observations that you may wish to look at and possibly address, they are as follows. 1. The wardrobe can I ask why a second rail is installed making it very difficult to hang clothes as you can only use the top rail hangers. 2. The fabulous level access shower I think has a problem with the fall towards the drain as when you use it the whole bathroom floors. You need to use it to see what I mean. 3. When entering and exiting the hotel we had to fight our way thru guests smoking immediately outside the main entrance which was not pleasant asan asthma sufferer. As i said these are only observations as the room and service was absolutely first class..
