Overnight to pick up a cruise

Very disappointed with the standards of cleanliness in public rooms and lack of restaurant service

Some of the seats in the bar area were filthy and one seat had chewing gum on it. Only bar snacks available a d there was a single bar menu, handled by a lot of people. Breakfast was not worth the £13.95 charged. Fruit salad comprised of browning apple only. Scrambled egg looked as if it had been fried. I have stayed in Novotel hotels before (including this one) and have never previously experienced such poor standards.

I was very disappointed. I have been staying for 20 years but not again . Kids running around everywhere. Noisy and doors slamming .

rooms need updating no aircon flashing smoke alarm @night light comes under the door bed not comfortable Breakfast dried up and wasn't being replaced toaster took 15 mins staff very pleasant

The hotel was lovely and facilities also would like to say a big thank you to Marty who was working the night of our stay he was brilliant with orders sorting us out a table etc nothing was to much for him. Unfortunately out stay was ruined by a fight that broke out right near our room my daughter was frightened that much she wanted to go home from all the screaming and shouting which was awful because she had been enjoying her self so much with the swimming etc and was her birthday to. She wouldn’t go back to sleep because she was so scared.

The reception staff are lovely! Helpful and polite . But the refugee families staying are quite intimidating , possibly because they sit in large groups outside and stare as you enter etc. I would just like to have known it would be so busy . Food, other than breakfast , wasn’t really available . Breakfast was packed and constantly running out - the staff were trying their best. There was a one course buffet for a large group , of curry which we could squeeze into at the end of the room if we wanted, we didn’t! The room didn’t have air con and it was very stuffy! The windows are then open and the noise!!!!! All night - boy racers, people talking loudly ( we were 3rd floor and could still hear them clearly ). The room was ok, a bit quirky , but ok. Sadly we plan to start visiting Southampton a lot as our daughter is studying here, but we won’t be returning to Novotel !

I booked a superior room and was upgraded to Executive. The room was comfortably furnished and I particularly liked the arrangement for changing the positions of the desk and television. Unfortunately that is where good news ends. It was all ruined by the fact that the room was too hot. There was something on the wall which looked like an temperature control, but I was told there was no air-con, only a fan stored in the wardrobe. (Clearly they know there is a problem with room temperature.) The fan did no good at all as it only moved warm air around. The area was too noisy to allow sleep with a window open. When will Accor/Novotel learn that if the room does not allow a comfortable night's sleep, whatever else they do is wasted.

Bath fittings very tired and in need of replacement, bed uncomfortable, extract vents not working. Had an evening check-in but reception not engaged and felt like i was intruding. Breakfast OK had to wait for items while no fruit replenishment but breakfast staff very cheerful and helpful.

Accor have been given the chance to reply to this, and failed. The restaurant was unavailable to guests as a party of 140 plus had exclusive use . Bar food was not of a quality to have as dinner which meant finding a taxi to go to another restaurant. Bar server did not know what customer service was, and to be charged £10 to park when the room rate is that high is an insult. I have stayed in Novotels in France, Spain and England and never had such a poor experience.

The hotel has only operated the bar area, and a limited menu since re-opening following the many enforced closures over the past 18 months. The decision to operate this way is driven by a combination of the food supply shortage, and the labor supply shortage. Whilst we continue to work on ways to combat this we are doing our best to accommodate the needs of our guests, but apologize for falling short on this occasion. As a conferencing hotel we do continue to accommodate where possible large group bookings offering basic buffet meals in both the breakfast area, and conference rooms of the hotel. Poor for what we was charged

Paid £230 for one night as they had a boxing event on, it's amazing how they could justify this. The room was poor very dull and needs painting lots of damage to the walls, the bar well that was a joke, when ordering our drinks in the event hall there was only one bar staff, I ordered three beers and vodka and was told by the bar man that the pump was not working and said the other bar pump is, I asked him if he could go and get it from there but he said he is on his own, I asked him to call another staff but no joy. I complained several times to the manager on the night but it seem to fall on deaf ears.

Always a good place to stay when going to Southampton. Well situated for theatre shops and the docks. Left my car there whilst on a mini cruise and felt it was safe. Service was very friendly and the hotel felt Covid secure.

Hotel bedroom was a bad layout. Toilet was in one part of the room and washhand basin and bath in another part of the room. After using the toilet you had to walk through 3 doors to wash your hands. Bed very hard did not sleep well. Breakfast not up to much . Would not stay here again
