« Helpfull staff and great food! »

The hotel has a very good location and is well maintained inspite of its need of refurbishment. The staff was very helpful with all information needed. The assisting manager quickly solved the issue with non working AC and offered us a new room. Food was excellent and well balanced international cuisine. We were not happy with very high prices of drinks, especially wine. Simply way too expensive which turned us away of ordering just one bottle in 10 days stay. It's a pity as we would certainly order wine on daily basis if prices were normal.

Had a lovely week at this hotel. Beautiful location, wide choice of food, immediate beach access, lucky to be granted an excellent sunset view - though the mauritian flying foxes fascinated me more, rooms maintained twice a day. Nothing was any trouble if asked for and kindly prepared a honeymoon gift.

« 5 stars hotel who forgot to evolve from the 90s standards with big quality challenges. »

I was sad. Sad because I decided to invest 1200 Eur a night for 2 nights to access a 5 stars hotel quality and I end up in a room (212) with humidity issues, terrible smell problems, only able to checkin 2 hours after the official checkin in time. It was a surprise for my wife who was disappointed so very very sad... I felt trapped

Simply awesome as usual . Very courteous staff. Great location. Wonderful beach . Great food , even the buffet is fantastic . Great variety of choices for breakfast ( the best ). Only thing is that this resort does not have the executive lounge Sofitel offers in most of its hotels worldwide . Hope soon

We had a great time. Our room was large with a terrific view. Half board was worth it because we had great food for breakfast and dinner. The staff were excellent and the beach wasn't too noisy or busy even though it was just prior to Christmas.

We stayed as a family of two young children in Sofitel Mauritius L'Imperial Spa for Christmas week. It's a beautiful hotel with great beach and location, and staff was in general helpful. Food was amazing all over, even the buffet being of great variety and taste. We had a problem with our room's mini bar fridge. We really needed it for my sons special yogurts (he has dairy allergy). The problem with the fridge was that it wasn't cooling down, so obviously we couldn't store anything in it. It took several phone calls and three days (!) for the hotel to fix this, which we found frustrating and disappointing. Another disappointment were the restaurant policies in hotel. We had a half board, so we had breakfast and dinner included in our stay. For dinner one can eat at the buffet or in one of hotel's special themed restaurants. I was really waiting to dine in the Japanese restaurant (Japanese is my favourite kitchen) but it was already fully booked when we got to the hotel. We stayed for 8 nights so I find it very weird that this restaurant was already fully booked. Are guests supposed to book restaurant already from home? This has never happened to us before. Staff was not really helpful with this, we asked if there would be a cancellation list or any change to eat at the restaurant, the answer was just no. Another thing was that at the breakfast/buffet restaurant you couldn't book a table, it was first come first serve type of place. Or so would one think, but in reality best tables were booked several night and mornings "for our loyal guests who return here every year" (exact quote from a waiter). We were always early for dinner and breakfast as we have small children, and there were all this empty tables that we couldn't sit in because they were booked for these loyal guests... This made me feel like a second class guest, especially as we don't speak French and these loyal guests were all French speakers. This was our first time in the hotel but being made to feel like other guest were more important than us really left a bad after taste in my mouth. Hotel made good job at the kids Christmas party, I think it was very well organised and my kids loved the presents they got from Santa. In general we enjoyed out stay but it could had been a great week without these issues I addressed above.

« Disappointing »

The service was very poor. During the breakfast buffet which ends at 10:30 am, coffee took way too long to be delivered, as we finished our breakfast the coffee finally arrived which took over 20 mins. Also, at around 10 am when breakfast is still going on, there was no refill of plates or certain dishes even though it is the hotels risk to keep everything going wether guests eat or not. The towels for the beach or pool were very dirty, there was brown/red spots on the towels. Last time we had to wait an hour to get a towel because they didn’t care ahead of time to organize more towels. However, I could keep on going and I would (if I would get payed for it) but this is not my job! Therefore you should invite a hotel inspector to rate and comment on the hotel. Overall Sofitel In Mauritius does not even reach the 5 star rating. Very disappointed and afraid to book Sofitel again.

« Perfect pool, horrible service and rooms »

I stayed for only 1 night, the AC was not working in my room, I needed to go 3 times at the front desk as the phone didnt answer. The relation customer suggest to change the room, the other room AC was nice but a impossible mold smell. I was tired and just give up to complain. Was 3 hour lost in my trip. Your hotel is not 5 star , anywhere in the world.

we were not impressed with two stray dogs who were obviously being fed by residents lying on the lawn and attacking people who were walking either way .although residents reported this to the hotel nothing was done to have the dogs removed.
