no restaurant ; breakfast only as room service ; no minibar ; not really a positive image for France as gastronomy

Dear TANNEKE L., You must have known before you moved that we were in the middle of a health crisis and that the restaurants and common areas in France are all closed. This is not a will on our part but an obligation of our government. So we're quite surprised by your comment. Our kitchen was open in room service which is advantageous for our guests who can't find anything else outside. Breakfast is in room service with a choice of products identical to the usual buffet. we suggest you wait until the end of the covid to look for a French gastronomic experience, the conditions are not ideal even if we all do our best. Rooms and the night stay excellent both in terms of facilities and comfort. The breakfast was a big let down considering that it's always an extra cost: to be presented with packaged food (like when flying on a plane!) and with very little choice (even less than what we presented when we stayed at the Ibis hotel in Bourg-En-Bresse a few weeks earlier) is not what I would consider an expectation from a Mercure hotel, regardless of the fact that there are evident restrictions caused by covid-19

Booked hotel due to facilities. Arrived to find restaurant closed and only bar open for food that was microwaved. It arrived cold and was 13E for a bowl of mush! No kids menu. Breakfast was not what is expected of full service hotel. Breakfast staff very unwelcoming.

The Booking an checkin was easy. We booked two standard rooms with air-conditioning. The air-conditioning in one room did not work at all and in the second room very bad. With the ac on full speed and max cold, the room temperature did not get below 26,7 degrees, which made us open the window over-night. Unfortunately there were spider-nets in front of the windows, which made our stay not very comfortable. We stay in the hotel for years now, everytime on our way back from vacation, but this time it was obvious, that the hotel got “into the years” and need strong updates. We skipped our booking in a 3-star Ibis Styles, which we regreted and will probably prefer next time....... Kind regards Axel
