I’ve stayed at La Cloche many times for when I’m in Dijon for work. It has beautiful interesting rooms to stay in, cool art and architecture. It’s within east walking distance to tons of places to see and experience in Dijon. The team that supports the hotel, bar, and restaurant are incredibly nice and helpful.

I booked the room directly with the hotel. Unfortunately I was not given the details of what was included in the room rate. I assumed breakfast was not included and we decided to find breakfast in the town centre, but on paying the next morning I was told breakfast was included in the room rate.

Smelly room

The room smelled like someone had their pet dog in the room and it relieved itself on the carpet. We had to have the windows open day and night otherwise the smell built up and became overbearing. The room overlooked a very busy street so we had constant noise day and night. We informed the front desk and they offered to send up housekeeping but the smell problem persisted. The air conditioner didn't work and engineering was sent to fix it but we couldn't use it even after it was fixed because it didn't defeat the smell mentioned earlier so we resorted to having open windows. I had to run back to the room one evening to close the windows as a rain storm was approaching and I didn't want rain to come into the room through the windows. The curtains are torn where they contact the window corners - probably because other people have done the same thing but snagged the curtains in the process. The half wall in the shower is useless in keeping shower water from soaking the bathroom floor. You need a door, a curtain, or a much longer wall. The current setup is ridiculous. The towel warmer in our room is broken - I forgot to mention it to the staff. You may want someone to look into that. The hallway carpet is worn and the brown and black color scheme makes it look dirty even if perhaps it's not. There are seat cushions stored at the bottom of the staircase/ fire escape. That could lead to a tradegy should a fire break out. It would be safer to store them elsewhere. We had a great stay at this hotel five years ago and on this trip I recommend it to our friends who travelled with us. Sadly the experience this time will make me look elsewhere for lodging on my future visits. Oh, in closing, I must complement the staff at the front desk. Everyone was kind, friendly and professional. That still doesn't overcome the other issues we experienced though.

Pleasant stay in the centre of Lyon. Courteous staff. Lovely clean hotel with great view from the room overlooking Place Darcy, but peacefully quiet. Good bed, shower and toiletries. Secure parking. Nice bar with lovely snacks. Recommendations: Reception could do with more staff for check-in/check-out. Sofas at the bar could do with some vacuum cleaning ... Beautiful property steeped in history and the location is fantastic. Staff were friendly. The room we were given was aesthetically pleasing however what let if down was the plumbing. Sink spout splashes everywhere and the shower was a joke. Overhead shower head was clearly broken and half of it was blocked, the other half was spurting out from the seams upwards then the water was dripping down from the ceiling. I asked the hotel staff to have a look but they never did. Not what you expect from a property like this.

Beyond the location and the breakfast buffet, the room was georgeous with view of Darcy park and plaza as well as the foothills in the distance. Staff were most helpful. Car, which they valet park, was always available at requested time. Location, just across the tram tracks and where both trams intersect was perfect. That plus the most pedestrian friendly city center made everything accessible. We only used the car for sorties out of city. Of 4 different hotels in our 16 day trip, the breakfast buffet was the best by far. Range of options. Service. Etc. And in actual fact, the room was the least expensive of the four

The location of this hotel couldn't be better, whilst its garage was useful as we were on a touring holiday in the car. The hotel is smart and comfortable but rather expensive. The only complaint is about the bathroom which has a strange design - the shower is over the bath which is quite difficult to get into if you are not tall, and does not provide an overhead shower, only hand held. Ultra modern and beautiful but not very functional. There was some difficulty getting sufficient hot water for a shower in the morning, which is not what you expect at this quality and price of hotel.
