I like to book this hotel because of its location, the service on our last visit was really good too, off the train and you are straight into the hotel, the lobby staff were really pleasant and helpful, check in and check out were easy, I gave 8 the point deductions were for the size of the room which is quite small, And the price can be a bit high for a budget hotel. Everything else was great.

Over all a good experience only one downside the hotel had work ongoing and we were woken up every morning with drilling directly above our room started at 8.10am

It was very disappointed because they offered a brand new room, and there was not cold water and the room, rails and windows were absolutely dirty, there was dust everywhere. Maybe since it was new the house keeper never git to clean ut. Sheets and pillows were ok, and we only had 2 towels.

Absolutely Horrible/Horrifying Check In Experience

We unfortunately had an absolutely horrible check in experience with your check in employees at the night of the 3rd of March. Firstly, we were given the keys to a room that turned out to be a double room, despite us clearly booking "One Room with 2 Single Beds". That wasn't an issue, we went back downstairs to explain the situation to another check in employee (the other employee that initially gave us the wrong room was busy with other customers). We were given the keys to room 319, which to upon our horror when we opened the door, there were people sleeping inside!!! That we woke up by opening the door at 11:30PM!!!!!! Can you imagine how horrifying of a situation that was!!!!!!!! Incredibly angry by this I went back downstairs to the check-in employee which calmed me down and tried to explain that it was a mistake where he intended to give us the keys to room 329 instead of 319 and mixed up the numbers. What kind of mistake is this!!!!!! With a huge hotel chain like Accor/Ibis????? I would expect it from some small motel that no one has ever heard of, but Ibis???? Finally, we were given the key to a room with two single beds. Upon entering, we realised that it is not even the room we initially booked, since we were given the keys to a "Cozy Room with 2 single beds" which is smaller and costs less than the room we initially booked (One Room with 2 single beds). Since it was past 12 AM at that point and I was exhausted from a 6 hour train ride, I decided to talk to the receptionists in the morning shift since the ones I have been dealing with were absolutely clueless and completely incompetent and careless in doing their job. Upon talking to the receptionist in the morning, he was incredibly understanding and moved us to a "room with 2 single beds" which is the one we initially booked, and even had the amount for the first night waived due to the horrid experience we went through, which was very nice and professional of him. Which is why I decided to give this review a rating of 3 instead of 1, since while it mitigates the horrors of opening the door to a room with people sleeping in the middle of the night, it doesn't completely eliminate it. That unfortunately wasn't the last of it, since our part of the building had some construction in it, so we were constantly woken up ever morning for the remainder of our stay at 8 am by the sound of drilling above our heads. I found it unprofessional in general to occupy the rooms adjacent to the construction happening since you know that this would impact the overall comfort of the customers. But I chose not to mention it since I was already fed up with the hotel and decided that I will never ever under any circumstances stay in Ibis Amsterdam City Centre again, and I will make sure I deter every person I know from staying in it and avoiding it under any circumstances. This isn't my first time staying in Ibis, I have stayed in your hotels across the globe from Paris to Karlsruhe to Dubai. In some cities I only stay in your hotels because of convenient and professional they are. But what happened to me during checking in on the night of the 3rd of March is completely unacceptable under any circumstances and is not something anyone would expect from a hotel chain like Ibis or from a company like Accor. I really hope this review is read and action is taken upon it to fix the lack of professionally that occurs at the hotel. Once again, credit where its due, the receptionist on the morning of the 4th of March was incredibly professional and accommodating and arranged us moving to our correct room while waiving the fee for the night before; but yet again, the whole situation the night before shouldn't have happened in the first place.

The stay was what we expected. Quite basic but clean and suitable. There was some work going on which was a small convenience, 1 morning I was woken by drilling but all the contractors seemed friendly. Staff were very helpful with knowledge of the local area. Shame there wasn’t any chairs in the room or kettle. But they have tea and coffee making facilities down stairs which is good.

Due to air traffic strikes I was unable to make it until 2 days into my stay. There was zero flexibility In moving these dates around even though there was plenty of availability. I then had to call twice to prevent my stay being flagged as No Show as the first person did not add a note to my booking as they said they had. I will go to the Roomate Aitana next time.

Checking in continues to be a problem at this hotel due to a poorly organized lobby. There is no clear check in area and guests are left to sort themselves out and wait to get the attention of staff who are working at multiple stations. First-time guests are often kept waiting as other guests push pass them to get to staff. No effort is made to provide a sequential service. This could be easily solved by reinstalling a traditional front desk operation.

Stayed for one night after getting the ferry to and fro Amsterdam. It's a great location with the centre just a few minutes walk, or a longer walk for some attractions, but worth it for the sight seeing! Room was very clean and fresh when we arrived, shower was great and had a comfy bed. Only downsides is 1) the shop/restaurant downstairs is very expensive compared to what you can get if you take a walk in the city. 3 euros for a tiny bottle of water. And 2) I booked late checkout so we could keep our bags in the room until it was time to get back on the coach at 5pm, and staff didn't tell us we'd need to reset the room key card. So when we came back on our last day in the city after being out all day we got to our room and had to come back down to the lobby as the card didn't work. But they are small points and overall I would stay again and recommend.

As for your room key, this should have been programmed already at check in for you, or at the moment you arranged the late check out. My apologies for this inconvenience. I chose Ibis Amsterdam Centre because of its proximity. I am not able to walk long distances and it was so close to the train station I could just manage the walk. I rented a mobility scooter which was delivered to the hotel and am happy to report that the entrance to the hotel is barrier free! My room was an accessible room with a shower room. It was very easy to accommodate my rental scooter. I was very impressed with the emergency pull cord in the toilet area. Instead of hanging from the ceiling, it was strung around the room about 2 inches off the floor. I’d never seen that before, but if I had fallen and required assistance, I would have been able to reach that cord from everywhere. I thought it was very innovative. During my stay, I had two dinners: a tomato soup with some wonderful bread and some chicken. The soup was homemade and superb! The next evening the soup of the day was Onion. It was amazing, also served with delicious bread. That evening I opted for just soup so I could enjoy the Apple Pie with ice cream and whipped cream. Again, it was delicious and beyond compare. Last, but not least, the staff are among the most pleasant and helpful I have met in my travels. From the moment I walked in, I was treated like a friend, by all staff, whether they worked the front desk, the restaurant or were charged with keeping the hotel clean and tidy. I highly recommend this hotel!

In general is was good, very good staff service, a bit overpriced but, I guess, it is because the location, some discount should have been applied due to area of construction, having some drilling noice and one lift, some time, was not available.
