We called reception at 6pm on Saturday 25th June as I had left my makeup bag with $400 worth of make up and skin care on the front passenger floor. Reception were indifferent and told us to contact the Concierge. We went downstairs and the Concierge wasn't there so my husband asked reception again. They said they would let us know if it could be retrieved. The next day at 10am when the driver delivered our car from Valet Parking there was no make up bag on the floor. I asked why the passenger window was all the way down and had someone stolen the bag. The concierge said they would check the cameras and that it would take sometime. We were from Ballarat and said we needed to head home. Half way back to Ballarat we received a call to say the makeup bag was with housekeeping. Clearly someone had delivered it there Saturday evening and noone bothered to follow it up. We drove back to the Novotel and all the Concierge said was sorry for the inconvenience. Extremely lazy service.

Checking in was painful, it's like the staff don't know what they're doing, I travel a lot for work, this was one of the slowest check ins ever, they're slow, 3 people took 30mins to check in. staff could have called other staff to help process check-ins. found the same when i went to breakfast, waited for ages people looked at me and walked past. finally got served and taken to a table, that server was good. Concierge was professional, clearly told me the wait time when i was about to check out. As a manager myself i would start again, spoke to a colleague and they said they had the same experience in their words "it was like the staff don't care". On a positive - Room was nice. Also we checked luggage in because we were going to a show, when we came back we asked for our bags and they couldn't find them, we told them where the bags were put (another room next to the normal baggage room), when we told them that they said - oh no we don't use that room for storage, we saw them use that room, my wife told me it looked pretty empty. anyway it took them 45 mins to find our bags and we had to leave to go to dinner, i bags arrived as we were walking out the door.
