« Top class service and food near centre of town »

The Mercure hotel is a short walk from Blois’ historical town centre, with a lovely view from the restaurant over the Loire river. Excellent local wines in the bar, delicious food and very friendly and professional staff throughout the hotel.

« Everything just fine except dinner. »

The hôtel is very good, the room is very clean and well appointed, breakfast was good but the whole experience was spoiled by dinner. The staff on reception were first class. Slow, slow service, some staff who didn't know how to smile and a main course that was supposed to be a steak but was overcooked, only just warm when served. What is worrying about this is that I had to make exactly the same complaint when we stayed with you at the end of October 2018.

« The worse night I have spent in a hotel in 50 years »

SErvice was friendly, but the bed was the worst bed I have slept in EVER. The first night of my stay I was unable to sleep until 3 am, and then only managed that because I lay on top of the duvet and wrapped myself in it. When I complained at the reception the next day, they acknowledged that this was a problem, and that they would start changing the mattresses in ... January. In the meanwhile, I was left to beg for an extra duvet to lie on, and had to take sleeping pill in order to get a reasonable night's sleep before my six hours drive the next day to my next destination. No word of apology, nothing. A TERRIBLE experience. My daughter too was unable to sleep, and slept the whole day in the car the day of our departure.

« Very Pleasant Stay »

We had a very pleasant stay. Our room was spacious, clean, nicely furnished and we appreciated the extra pillows. The staff were welcoming, friendly and spoke very good English. We also liked the restaurant. One of the power points near the bed wasn't working well and that's the only (minor) problem.

One night booking whilst driving through France. Enjoyed pool and jacuzzi facilities. Room okay, would of liked a warming towel rail in bathroom. Remote control for TV was not working - batteries flat - but Receptionist helped with supplying new. Additional coffee supplies in room would of been appreciated. Evening meal at restaurant - food tasty although not a lot on the plate, prices high. No breakfast, too expensive.

« Overall good experience, comfortable room, warm welcome »

The room was comfortable and the staff very helpful and welcoming. However I had a problem with the water in my room (it was boiling hot) on my last night so I was not able to take my shower and had to wait until the next morning. The issue was solved, but still was annoying

« Spoiled, by my dinner and forced to buy swimming trunks. »

The room and ambiance of the hotel was very impressive. But being made to purchase an approved pair of black swimming trunks, when I had brought my own, was inexcusable, particularly when other guests using the pool, were wearing their own...! I felt distinctly discriminated against. Also the evening meal - where I’d invited my two companions to join me and paid for - was very average. Although, we all choose differently from the menu, all three of us left most of what we were served with, making it an expensive waste of money. Although the waiter service was very good, the next time I visit, I will eat elsewhere. PH.

« Solid 3 star hotel (not 4) »

This is a nice hotel with rooms that are good for a solid 3 star hotel. The rooms are simple, a bit small and clean. The bathrooms are renovated with showers. The beds are small with cheap mattresses that are thin and not comfortable. The bathrooms have only soap, no other toiletries. Our shower was nice but didn't drain correctly and flooded the floor. The aircon/heat in the room didn't function correctly. We lowered the temperature 4 times during the night but it never cooled off. Breakfast was good with a large selection. Location was good.
