Highlights - Ashley, Millie and Olivia at reception. Phone call with customer service. The breakfast staff. The location is superb. The pool was refreshing. Low lights - Restaurant closed at lunch + dinner (due to COVID); The North Bar closed (due to COVID); The bed in the suite was awful - it sinks in the middle; bird droppings on balcony floor + furniture are unhygienic (and awful for the cleaners to clean up everyday); bathroom supplies - shampoo etc - were not replenished until I left a note on day 4; one bottle of water per person for a 5 day stay was disappointing (I had assumed it would be daily); bed sheets made but not changed for duration of 5 night stay also not what was expected; the guest laundry was not anywhere near 4 star standard.

It was our first time at Novotel, and we had the city view. It wasn’t the best view, but they were the only rooms left. The beds were comfortable & the bathroom was very well maintained & clean. Definitely will be booking again, but next time I’ll make sure to book the beach view room. Overall, we loved the hotel, it’s location and the staff were very helpful & friendly.

Staff very accomodating, and excellent room 921 was afforded on recent stay Negatives; A)The North restaurant / bar was closed for dinner with no notification on the web site or advise upon phone booking B) with restaurant closed for dinner the only alternate within the hotel was room service which incurred a $5 sundry charge which I believe should have been complimentary given the circumstances

we enjoyed our stay overall however we are dissatisfied that we paid full freight for 2 nights and the restaurants were not even open within the hotel. It was like staying in a bed and breakfast which is not he experience you pay for when you go to the Novotel. There are limited good restaurants in the area and we stay at acor hotels to take advantage of the member benefits to which we were unable to because of the bar and restaurants being closed. I understand these are difficult times however don't charge your customers full freight with half the experience. Also you managed to have enough staff to cater for a wedding however couldn't even open a bar for a few hours?

Overall the staff were nice and the facility was good, was a pity the main lounge was closed during the time we were there, also the coffee machines were not working for breakfast but the staff kindly made a barista coffee for my wife and I.

For the price we paid and the name of the hotel we were expecting much better but unfortunately we were very disappointed. With an amazing bar in the middle of the hotel next to reception does not open until 3pm. I wanted to have a drink while watching my kids in the pool and pool bar does not operate. Room service took more than an hour to bring a bucket of ice the first night, on the second night of asking for ice it didn't even make it to our room I actually walked down and got my own ice from the bar. On the positive side cleaning staff were extremely helpful and did an amazing job and helped more than the other hotel staff. Overall; hotel management needs to train staff on customer service and maybe increase staff especially on busy times like Christmas.

Is very evident that no investment is being made on staff training despite getting multiple reviews about poor service. I felt unwelcome from the time I checked in. They is nothing 4.5 star about this establishment.

Had a room with 2 queen beds - which is not common. there was still some space for kids to move around in the room. Breakfast was good, but could have been better . I asked for a omlette , but was denied by the chef in the kitchen (its okay...no dramas... but other hotels do provide that facility). Carpets looked worn out in the lobby and common areas... which gives the hotel a very dated look. Staff at Front desk and Breakfast cafe, both, were really polite and helpful. Room was clean. at the Breakfast cafe, the tables were cleaned with some kind of cloth...which still left the table wet. Considering pandemic situation... its un-hygenic. also, everyone at breakfast cafe uses the same serving spoon to pick up food at each counter, and then everyone eats with the same hands (obviously). this is an easy way to spread the infection. But then i cannot quickly think of a solution to avoid this. Maybe its a good idea to keep a bottle of Hand sanitizers on each breakfast table with a small placard reminding everyone to sanitize their hands. That will prompt people to clean thier hands . or atleast, somehow force people to sanitize their hands before they pick-up the serving spoons to pick up food at the counters. Just after the day i checked-in, we got notification that someone had been identified Covid positive around the same time in this hotel. next day, again a similar message and i am sure lot of people took home the infection from all the hotels across the country... not just this one. but some small simple measures can definitely go a long way.

Was great except our room backed onto the fire escape and there was a constant very loud fan noise that sounded like a delivery truck right behind the bedhead that went 24 hours a day and meant very little sleep both nights of our stay. I reported it twice to the front desk but the noise continued. It was also very busy with only 2 lifts to get to the rooms there were very long lines. Apart from that stay was fantastic

The location, rooms and view are first class but I can’t say that for the breakfast. I understand they were short staffed but the buffet breakfast was terrible, nothing was hot, the water for there’s was warm, then the bacon and eggs were only just warm. Very disappointing and have always enjoyed the breakfasts at Novotel until this experience. We dined at 8am and a number of other guest said the same thing. It in saying that, the staff did there best and we would go back

I can’t believe your hotel charges for wi fi & room service? Is it 2001? Also I was horrified that the cleaners walked in on me and my partner twice in the morning!

I booked a 'city view' room totaling $854 for 2 nights. The ad referred to the city view twice. When we got to our room, our only view was of the tin roof of the floor below as far as the eye could see. No other view. I spoke to the receptionists and showed them the ad. They said that was the room, despite what the ad said but tried to move us to a room of the same price. They did, but rather than 2 queen beds, we had 1 queen bed and 1 sofa bed. Two wine glasses were in the room - one was dirty and still had liquid in it when we arrived. On our second day, they still had not been replaced. There were also a number of surprise additional costs that were not referred to in the ad - internet was $11 an hour and parking $25 per day (they had also failed to put our car on their database, even though I enquired directly with reception about parking). Had these extra costs been mentioned, I would not have booked. Overall, the experience was very disappointing. Having stayed at other Novotel hotels, this was by the far the most disappointing.

It was nice only because it was next to the beach. We regularly stay with you but this time I wasn't as happy as I usually would've been. The pool was filthy, the spa was gone, 4 people staying in our room but it was equipped for only 2 people. Rationing out pool towels, breakfast had very very little vegetarian options (why no baked beans?!), a sense of frugality was around the place. Also what happened to making your little guests feel welcomed, the family friendly hotel we came to love? The play room is gone, the little extras like the iceblock freezer and sand buckets are gone. They were the little things that made us always go back to you. Sadly no longer there.

We loved the room and service provided. Parking was a bit of a nightmare both outside the hotel and underneath the hotel. Elevator had limit of 4 people (due to Covid and I understand out of your hands), so on checkout had to wait over 10 mins before taking stairs. Only knew about stairs from employee that was also waiting for elevator. I think a large sign on each level near elevators, showing where stairs are would be really great! Overall, the stay was great and beds were soooo comfy. Would stay again:)

Overall We had a great stay at the hotel, our room was clean which is standard however our balcony was filthy. We did decide to pay almost an extra $300 to have a beach balcony view. When we got our hotel the view was definitely a disappointment. We could only see a spec of the beach. The sauna was also closed and so where the dining areas. If you’re not going to provide what is promised the prices should reflect that. Instead we are charged the same rate. The girl at the reception granted the customer in front of me a discount due to this but would not grant the same offer for me.

Noone is covid safe - many people not in masks and no staff member saying anything - they simply respond with there is a sign up - its a small sign on a pillar that can easily be missed. All bar staff and hospitality staff wearing masks but around their chins - very disapointing. Patrons were seen arguing with each other about the need to wear masks and no staff member doing anything about it...and yes I now have an sms to say I came into contact with someone at the Novotel who has covid. I also think every review I do mentions the poor beds you have - the mattresses are sooo soft and worn - my husband and I spend the week with back aches... it seems feedback goes nowhere with Novotel - sometimes a note to say thanks for the feedback - but no good if you dont aspire to change

We’ve been staying at Novotel Northbeach Wollongong every year for the last 11 years and I have to say this time around was really disappointing. Management has changed and it is very evident that they are keen to cut costs at the expense of customer service. The buffet breakfast range is more limited than it used to be, and now they charge for coffee after it was previously at no charge. The kids playroom is now an empty space and staff seem overworked and unhappy. There were cockroaches in our rooms, room cups were dirty and for some reason they didn’t want to replace the body wash even though we were there for 5 nights. You’ve lost a loyal Accor plus customer because of your cost over service mentality!
