I highly recommend everyone to stay in this hotel, it has all you need and more. If you can afford it, do not doubt it! It is the best option to enjoy Aswan and its surroundings. It was definitely the highlight of my holidays. I am very grateful with all the staff working in the hotel.

Cannot recommend enough. The Old Cataract is beautiful, so peaceful, and has the best views of the Nile. Everyone is so nice, the facilities are great, and I loved the pool. Wish I had more time there.

My stay at Sofitel was a dream come true. It was perfect. The hotel guest relations, lounge waiters and security personnel were very attentive, pleasant and friendly. The food was delicious. My room was superb. The location and view of the Nile River was breathtaking. Also, the hotel trimmings for my birthday left me in awe.

I’d like to thank all of the staff from Old Cataract Hotel for the smiles and happiness they gave us. Both my husband and I very much appreciated the care my they were providing us gros those 5 days. The service was perfect from the first dinner to the last breakfast. The staff made sure we felt comfortable during our stay. Never did we see such perfect communication and organization. We also enjoyed the long talk with Ahmed and would have enjoyed it even if we had stayed longer. The view from our balcony was unbelievable. We mostly would like to thank Ahmed and are certainly coming back with our family. The setting is of course magical, the pool and the terrace restaurant are marvelous. However the service can improve. One day the room was being cleaned when we got back from breakfast (where we had spent nearly one hour), and the cleaning could therefore not be completed. Another day we called for the room service meal to be cleaned, and the person took the plates but not the dirty napkins, and did not clean the table... All the other experiences (pool, food by the pool, lunch on the terrace, drinks on the promenade, 5pm visit of the hotel) were impeccable.

We visited this beautiful historical hotel. We enjoyed everything. Very beautiful room with beautiful Nile view. Quite and comfortable room, with beautiful balcony. Tasty breakfast on open terrace and great French restaurant. You feel like in Orient Palace. Staff is very friendly. And all measures for Covid are in place. There is no evening live piano music, but is missed.

Disappointed

Sadly. There were too many things that outweighed the quality of other things. We were both very disappointed with what should be good quality. But in fact was very poor, service and value for money. 1902 menu was poor. No menus in the rooms, they were using QR codes which was great, but waited 1 hour for a code to arrive for a menu. Phones not working in a signature suite so had to phone using a mobile. Door handles falling off the door to balcony, many of the shutters couldn’t be opened. Satellite stations all bad connections. Bar cocktail charges were fine, BUT, then found out they were using local spirits as didn’t want to pay charges I was told by the management. That is a rip off when behind the bar you only see the imported spirits. Service fit breakfast and lunch was incredibly slow for an empty hotel. Sat waiting for 20 minutes etc lobby, bar, grounds etc all superb. But that’s it.
