Recently refurbished, guest rooms at Mercure Brisbane offer a range of accommodation options to suit all guest requirements, including Superior, Privilege and Deluxe options. During the refurbishment, Mercure and WMK Architecture collaborated to create awarm yet modern space filled with bright colour, which is both inviting and comfortable. The work of local artist Kelly Fielding was also incorporated into the room design, which includes her range of headboards designed to resemble the Brisbane River.

Only an overnight stay and left early the next morning so no real time to experience the facilities. Ended up having breakfast in the restaurant and, unfortunately, that was my only mistake.

We had a lovely night in Brisbane, booked in to the Mercure as it was tried and tested previously and very comfortable since the refurbishments a few years back. Upgraded to a lovely room with a fantastic view over to Qpac and Southbank. Service was great no matter where we were in the hotel.

Parking was a little too confusing and it took two attempts from different staff members to explain. Perhaps, if the Mercure is working in conjunction with this third party, allocated parking spots could be allocated to Mercure guests. Also the room was not to a high standard upon checking in. Three guests were booked and only two towels were ready in the room. Front desk immediately rectified this once called. There was a hair tie and bobby pin located on the floor upon immediate entry, which did not belong to us. Standard of Cleaning was immediately questioned.

The bar staff at Platinum were excellent and provided service way above expectations. Although the corridors and exteriors of rooms were very old and tired the rooms inside were very good. My only bad experience was that my Amex authorisation was activated on the Friday at 1500hrs before my check out on the Sat. I was not advised this was going to happen or when it did happen and was not impressed.

The room was good, as per the booking. However, the coffee machine did not work which I did not discover until the morning when I needed it. Also breakfast was so poor, I walked out and went elsewhere. Minimal choice of cheeses and savoury cold food for the continental, and the coffee machine was not working and the attendants didn't seem fussed about it. For $23 (which is already ridiculous for a Continental Breakfast) I was not going to stay!
