I was there over the Xmas 2021 weekend with my son whose has recently started a job in Hungary. It was a very pleasant stay, the staff were all helpful, Travel COVID Testing arrangements and with finding restaurants; particularly on Xmas Eve. They were also particularly patient and tolerant of some very rude customers. So, a big thank you to all the staff that gave up their Christmas Weekend to make sure our stay was the best.

Everything was great! Marton at the front desk was so helpful in getting us situated and preparing us for the things to see in Budapest. The breakfast and snack lounge were amazing as well! We will be back to visit!

Best Mercure in Budapest, excellent staff

I stayed at this Mercure and also at the City Center one and this one wins hands down due to the availability of suites and the wonderful staff at reception, in the restaurant and in the housekeeping department. It took half an hour by taxi to get there from the airport which is 20kms away and it cost €22. Make sure to buy your ticket at the taxi booth outside the airport. They will give you the licence plate number and call the taxi to pick you up. A nice young man on reception called Gergo checked me in and told me I had been upgraded to a suite as I'm a Platinum member of the Accor loyalty programme, the best one out of all the programmes I belong to and I definitely recommend it to all frequent travellers. He explained that I needed to request the room to be cleaned and I did that every day. It was very clear so I don't understand the complaints about that. My suite was in the annex building so I had to take an indoor footbridge on the 3rd floor which is the one you can see in some of the photos. The small swimming pool, which was unfortunately closed due to Covid, although the CDC is not aware of any scientific reports of the virus that causes Covid spreading to people through the water in pools or hot tubs, was on that side. I entered the suite which was carpeted and went down a corridor to the living room which was after a guest toilet on the left. The living room had a very comfortable couch and two armchairs and was quite small but I didn't mind that. What I did mind was that there was no light except for a small lamp above the desk and the minibar and that there was no TV. You can see the lack of light very clearly in my photos. The bedroom did have a TV and a bathroom with a shower in the bathtub. I always prefer a walk-in shower and don't know why hotels bother with bathtubs. The bed had a 160cm wide mattress and I always ask for a double mattress. I also ask for an extra double sheet as I usually get too hot under the duvet cover. The bed was very comfortable. The Privilege lounge was closed, also due to Covid, the universal excuse these days for what is really cost cutting in disguise. Gergo had told me that I could get the service at the lobby restaurant from 5-8pm and I just made it down there in time at 7.50pm. A waiter called Adam brought me a glass of white wine then a dish of hot and cold finger food. I was pleasantly surprised when another waiter called Zoltan arrived at 8.15pm and filled up my glass again.

Room was completely clean, modern and had good design. It was small, but I had programs outdoor, so that is ok. Breakfast was delicious and meeting standards. It could be found easily.

The hotel staff is extremely friendly and helpful, from the first contact to the check out. The location of the hotel is excellent. The breakfast was good and the choice very nice presented. For dinner there is a restaurant in the lobby that is also very delicious and the prices are very fair. The standard rooms are nice but a bit small. Also the very old and heavy used looking carpet floors do not fit into the all around modern and cool ambient.

A two night business trip. Didn’t spend much time in the hotel. I had a single room which was a bit small but perfectly adequate for my stay. I really only slept, ate breakfast and left. I did manage a walk and was pleased I could get to the river quickly and easily. There were a number of street cafe’s and restaurants nearby which was nice.

- Within 5 days garbage wasn't taken out, towels never changed, no cleaning - very small room (standard): you can't close the bathroom door when sitting on the toilet - average breakfast + great location + friendly staff

The hotel has a very central location in Bucharest. The rooms are well appointed and clean. Bathroom was clean. Great noise insulation from the busy street outside. Excellent breakfast. It has a parking place, though the spaces are narrow and it is an extra charge. The rooms look more institutional than with personal charm, but they are fine. Whatever they management says, please keep your masks on inside the hotel.

The breakfast buffet was pretty good but not great. The bed was too small. The pool was closed (due to covid?) 2 of the 5 elevators were out of service for most of the week. We had to repeatedly ask to have our room cleaned each day - they only do it if you specifically ask when staying multiple days. The reception desk staff was very nice and helpful and the location was convenient.

We were moved form Mercure City due to some unforseen events, which we totally understood, but we expected better quality services, at least to compensate 1 hour lost for moving from a hotel to another . It was farther than we booked initially, the rooms were very small, in the parking area we were blocked 2 times and needed help from reception. Breakfast- ok, near to metro and bus station- could be an advantage

Used to be better...

Bought a privilaged room with breakfast included and i must say "it used to be better", towels were dirty, minibar empty, hotel restaurant menu was missing so they had to bring me new one upon calling them twice. What used to be a privilaged breakfast area , is now just empty space with nothing in it and everyone has breakfast in the same area now. So if you want to sleep in a bit , dont expect full tables anymore, since rest of the hotel usualy eats it out early in the morning. Also, i dont know what it is still with the windows, if you want to open them you have to call the reception first and they send someone first to unlock the windows...otherwise you are pretty much stuck with just the AC. Conclusion ? "Privilaged" status is useless now , if you want to stay there , just buy normal room and save yourself some cash, on the other hand, i dont know how those look like these days.
