Absolutely everything about my Sofitel experience was beyond amazing! First. our room was always immaculate. It was our own personal sanctuary when we returned from our daily adventures. I adore the luxurious Lanvin toiletries. The hotel and grounds are stunning! The convent architecture is historic and beautiful. We loved the pool area and enjoyed relaxing at the rooftop bar that overlooks it. We stayed five nights and enjoyed seeing at least three wedding parties ascend the grandiose staircase from the pool area up to the rooftop. The wedding fireworks were unexpected and a sight to behold! We ate the most delectable meals (breakfast and dinner) in the tranquil garden restaurant. I also purchased a gorgeous bathing suit from the onsite swimsuit store. Raphael in concierge was the most professional, helpful, pleasant concierge I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He provided so much wonderful information to us that helped us enjoy our stay even more. Raphael coordinated our Bora Bora trip and our COVID tests. I am mentioning him by name because he is the best! Sofitel exceeded every expectation I had. Our stay was a dream come true!

Nice property but could've been better

Building was great; property was well maintained, room was comfortable and had a lot of nice touches, but a lot of things could've been better. Email communication with the concierge was frustrating - a bit slow and not very clear. Breakfast was pretty good but I would've expected more meat - like chorizo or chicharrones. During breakfast, our table got taken - not our server's fault, but something could be done to better indicate taken tables. Also during breakfast, my partner got pooped on by a bird. Something needs to be done to try to keep them away - maybe nets at higher levels? Bocataria was beautiful but the music was a bit too loud and needed more seats. The pool was lovely, but closed at 6pm which is a bit silly. Our biggest annoyance was that we got an unexpected call to remove everything from our minibar, just as we were settling in and about to shower. They came to our room and removed everything (I don't understand why they didn't comp it if it was the hotel's fault). The next morning after breakfast, we found everything that was removed the night prior back in the fridge. So they entered in our room without permission, AND disturbed us unnecessarily the night before. It was very confusing and annoying. At checkout, I wasn't asked about my experience, so I didn't have a chance to communicate all my frustrations.

Beautiful property… but !!!

I stayed at Hotel Santa Clara 01/07/21-01/13/21 on the 7th day of my stay I noticed a significant amount of water on the entry floor upon awakening. I notified staff and maintenance was sent to clean up and evaluated the problem. Three days later I came in after the maid had cleaned my room and noticed a small towel on the entry floor in a large pool of water. I tried to step around the water to reach the phone to call staff when I slipped and fell landing on my left hip. Staff was called and sent a doctor to my room who gave me a cortisone injection and pain pills as I was experiencing severe pain in my hip and lower back. I was given a new room and a free massage. Now that I am home and the medication has worn off I am again experiencing considerable pain in my left hip and lower back. No reduction in my bill was offered and no offer to pay for my medical expenses now that I am home.

Hello Santa Clara Team!! I spent a few days at your hotel Santa Clara Cartagena with my wife and family in June and had a great, great time. Can’t really think of anything bad, perhaps the in-room phones were difficult to use and outdated, but then again if you’re on vacation you should be by the Pool or at the restaurant or bar and not on the phone in your room! Everything else was really nice, from the reservation and booking process, through customer experience at the pool, restaurants and throughout the hotel. Not only did we feel at home but also very safe and comfortable with the family. I’d also like to make a special mention to Laura, your reservations manager, who conspired with me to make this a very memorable experience for my wife on our 20th wedding anniversary and honeymoon spent at your hotel. Her attention to detail, professionalism and outstanding service we’re just remarkable. Thank you and your team for that Laura! And also the butler, front desk and concierge teams were always available and very responsive to our needs all the time! One thing I know for sure is that we will be back! Thank you again, Jorge

Amazing service made us feel special

We flew down from New York and stayed a total of 6 nights at the hotel with our 2 adult children (19 and 24 years old). We were made to feel special by the service provided, both prior to arrival and during our stay. Before arriving, Ernesto the butler, helped us put together an itinerary and make all the reservations for restaurants, trips and transport. While we were at the hotel, all the staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is a delightful hotel, very clean and well maintained with an air of sophistication and luxury. The restaurant around the interior courtyard and garden was pleasant with a good selection of tasty food. We enjoyed the pool area during the day and the roof top bar in the evening with a view of the sunset and good music. The Spa is highly recommended. We would definitely recommend the hotel and look forward to returning.

Real Issues with Service at this Hotel!!

The staff are among the warmest, most caring hotel staff one can imagine. It is disheartening to see Sofiel let this wonderful team down by failing to provide the most basic tools the staff needs to fulfill guest requests accurately and promptly. For example, the phone system in the hotel is not working properly. A lot of static and if the callers are speaking English to Spanish, there is no chance to hear what the caller is saying. To fix this, the hotel is using Whats app. Only the concierge/butler have access to this application so all communication gets bottle-necked; In other words, the kitchen staff can't call the guest, easily, and get clarification about the order. We waited 30-40 minutes for water and when it arrived, the order was wrong. There is just not enough water in the room without the minibar being stocked, which it is not. Again, super nice people trying to do a great job. But, without the tools to do the job. I moved to the Hyatt.

Would stay here again for the pool and location. Would not pre-pay for the breakfast. Service was nothing special. Pros - Everyone loved the pool. It was clean, big, and there were more than enough lounge chairs. - Location - I like the openness of the hotel, especially having breakfast in the garden - Gym was small but adequate - Free walking fitness tours in the morning - David the waiter during our last breakfast. He should be running the breakfast wait staff. Cons - The breakfast was not worth it. The French press coffee was weak and just OK. The kids' cereal was stale and my kids would not eat it. The eggs needed to be seasoned. Overall it was very underwhelming and I wish we did not pre-pay for it. The cheese fingers were really good, though. - The wait staff at breakfast was very inconsistent. The first day they did not explain that we could order eggs how we wanted them. Most of the days, they forgot something we wanted. They seemed busy and inattentive. David was the only one whose service was what I expected. - The service was not what I expected from a luxury hotel. Our keys stopped working and we had to go down multiple times, first to be given a replacement key and then to be told that the battery in the door key receiver must be low. My husband had to go down again to get someone to actually come up to our door and replace the battery. This was ridiculous: the hotel should have automatically sent someone to replace the battery at least the second time our keys didn't work, without having my husband specifically ask for it.

As a guest, I felt very welcomed! I even requested a COVID test before leaving and the hotel was able to accommodate, right at the hotel.

When we arrived to Sofitel in Cartagena, the Hotel Perce was beautiful. We were greeted so nice and welcoming. The bell men was so helpful and during our entire stay he helps out with everything we needed. Everything was walking distance. We went for a weeding, but we are definitely coming back to more days.

This hotel is one of the most beautiful accomodations ever stayed. The building, its gardens, pools and wells, the ambience in general are all amazing. We also appreciated the warm hospitality and kindess of all hotel employees. This hotel is highly recommended!

The entire staff made our trip extremely memorable! You can find many beautiful hotels, but almost impossible to find this type of service! The concierge took care of all of our dinner reservations (Andres, Marcos, Rafael & team), but our favorite part was spending the day at one of the most beautiful pools in Cartagena, especially being pampered by Alex and the entire pool staff! We can't wait to go back!
