Checked in on line with txt confirmation of key waiting. Parking at the door. Kaitlin on reception kindly met my booking requests of an upgrade and very generous next day late check out of 2pm. Room service delivery was friendly. Nice to be served by Maori staff with "Kia ora" and "Morena" the next day. You were pleasantly reminded that you were in Aotearoa / New Zealand with Rotoruas' specific brand of hospitality. On departure, Leia kindly assisted with luggage, despite reception being busy. She also appreciated a tip, with a jar of M&M's gifted in return. Kia ora Novatel for a very pleasant and warm stay. If you are visiting from overseas (or anywhere else) I strongly recommend this hotel for the location, facilities and their exceptional hospitality and service. They will look after you.

« Paid for two rooms only got one. »

We had a fabulous time in Rotarus despite our accommodation. I was travelling with my husband and two children (11 months and 3.5 years) so believed that our travel agent had booked us two interconnecting rooms so that the boys could sleep in one. At check we were advised that the room allocated to us was unsuitable and we were moved to a standard double. A travel cot was then brought to our new room by a member of staff who commented that it had been taken from 2 interconnected rooms and wouldn’t that be more suitable for us and perhaps there had been an error. I immediately returned to reception and asked whether there had been a mistake and that we were suppose to have two rooms. I was told repeatedly and in a condescending tone that I had only paid for one room. At check out we were told the same thing. So my husband and I were forced to go to bed at 8pm as this is when the boys go to bed and we all had to sleep in the same room. The room was so small a chair had to be put in the corridor as there was no room for that an a cot! Now on return to the UK my agent has checked and we did indeed pay for 2 rooms! I therefore am owed money and an apology for the room I paid for and wasn’t used, The patronising treatment from your staff and my negatively affected stay.

« Tiring, unable to relax, poor service. »

We came as part of our trip for my partners 30th birthday. Firstly after a long drive we were greeted at check in by one of your staff that was not welcoming and had a bit of an attitude problem. Then once we got to our lake view room on level 1 it was hardly a lake view and was mainly old rooftops. We paid more for this lake view to begin with. After this we noticed an awful noise, we thought it may be someone doing some work outside so went out for dinner and thought it would have stopped by the time we got back, it hadn't. Went down to front desk after trying to call and no one answering. The lady who arranged for us to move was nice and did give us some drinks vouchers but then we had to wait for apparently 30min for the room to be ready. I went down around 7, I called at 7.45 no answer at the front desk. I called again at 8.30 someone finally answered but room wasn't ready. Called at 9 no one answered again so had to go back down to the front desk for a different person to say oh I was just about to call I highly doubt that after the service we recieved so far. We get to our new room which is a downgraded rooms with no compensation although actually has a view this time and no noise. We waited over 2 hours for a call on the night of my partner's 30th that we should of been able to spend relaxing but this didnt happen as we couldn't even unpack. I'm really disappointed with our stay and the only reason it isnt a 1 star is because of the 1 kind staff member. Wasn't worth the money and wont be coming back or recommending to anyone.

« great room average customer service »

Arrival checkin was very slow and so was all other interactions. The front desk seemed under-staffed. if you walked past reception, it seemed your staff went out of their way not to ensure eye contact. In fact the staff seemed disengaged, bored and as if customers were an interruption to their day. I thought maybe it was just me but I noted the same expression for others. What is gong on with the workplace culture there??

« Disappointing »

We received a text message at 13.31 to say our room key was ready to be picked up. We arrived approximately 2.50 to check in and were told our room was still not ready which we found to be unsatisfactory as on the internet it states check in from 2pm. We were finally given the room key at 3.20pm. We found the staff on the reception desk to be unfriendly and not helpful at all.

Staff at reception were excellent. Whitney T in the bar was helpful and friendly. The room had a wonderful view and was comfortable. The breakfast was a little disappointing with no fresh fruit. But overall we would certainly stay again.

With a couple of exceptions it was excellent. The hotel is in a great location and the room was very good. The front desk service was also good. There area few things that need to improve with the buffet and checkout system.

« Disappointing »

We paid extra for a lake view and spa to end our holiday - so that we didn’t have to walk to the Polynesian Spa (because the upgrade costed about the same). What we got was a majority of our view was looking into the next hotel rooms, and the spa was a tub with jets, which we didn’t use because we couldn’t fit in there together. Our air conditioning didn’t work either - not good in a 33deg heat. Most of the night there was a sound above us like someone was polishing floors on and off - whether this was the air con or not, I don’t know. The best thing about our stay was our comfortable bed and location. But other than that, I wouldn’t pay to stay here again.

it was so much better than last time, poles apart in fact, I purposely opted for a cheaper room as I thought why bother as last time It was so disappointing , however I was pleasantly surprised, the room was fine, the staff were excellent and the food service was good enough to stop us going elsewhere looking for dinner, thanks.

Our stay was for a conference, from the moment we checked in to our leaving we were happy with the service. Loved the extra effort that went into recycling - down to the glass drink bottles. Loved the juicer at breakfast. Some much choice for the special $1 breakfast.
