The first room was depressing and felt like a prison cell plus it smelt of cigarette smoke. We spoke to someone on reception who was very helpful and moved us to another room. This one felt much cleaner but was still not the standard I would expect for this price. It was hot and noisy and we couldn’t sleep so we cancelled the rest of our stay. We received a refund without a fuss, can not fault the staff just not our choice for hotel in the future.

Disappointing. Used for many many years but let down this time. Bathroom door, my wife got locked in. Door wouldn't open it was jammed. Eventually got out but then wouldn't lock. Changed rooms, but bath light very dim and sink blocked. Needs maintenence work.

Covid hotspot in the making

No effort to minimize the spread of COVID-19, I have stayed in a selection of other hotels during the outbreak and the IBIS at Thurrock is by far the only one I have actually felt exposed and unsafe.

Please rest assured that I have personally addressed that issue with smoke smell in the room to my head housekeeper. And also in regards to AC not working I have addressed that to my maintenance manager as well and he is already getting engineer over today to look into the air con issue thanks for your feedback and this will help us to prevent future occurrence. I would appreciate if you could elaborate for my learning on the feedback you have provided in regards to Covid-19 . As we have stringent public area cleaning procedure in place with hand sanitation station, floor marking in the reception area and visible signage for all our guest advising them to follow government advise in public area. Our hotel has obtained the ALLSAFE cleanliness and prevention label, verified by Clifton Environmental Services. This ensures that our hygiene and prevention measures meet the highest standards. Terrifying night and morning

Friendly staff on check in asked if we would be needing help if there was a fire I said yes as my husband is unable to stand or walk and is a full time user During the night there was a fight outside of bedroom I tried to use the phone in the room but it wasn’t working so I found the telephone number on the internet and rang reception they said they would help It went quiet but we couldn’t sleep eventually we fell asleep and woke up at 6 we needed to make an early start and were at the lift about 6.30 am But it was out of order I left my husband in his wheelchair and went downstairs to ask for help . The staff did everything they could but the upshot was my husband was trapped until finally the lift engineer turned up . I think it’s absolutely disgusting that wheelchairs are allocated the 3 rd floor Why ? I also think you are being robbed by the so called 24/7 call out cover for the lift because no way was an engineer available until ordinary working hours

The hotel is so noisey at night . I didn’t sleep a single wink. Noisey water pipes , corridors and other people late at night . Literally no sleep and left feeling awful . Please provide ear plugs for guest and or sleeping tablets!
