ibis budget Dortmund Airport 1 star

Having completed online check in we expected a speedy reception. This was sadly not the case. Our passports were demanded. My photo driving licence was not accepted as proof of ID. The receptionist was abrupt with my wife later and at breakfast the following morning I was given a frosty reception, by a suspicious receptionist ( the same person as the night before). I have stayed at that hotel many times over the last 20 years, but will not be going back there again (at least until the management changes).

Weird smell of new materials. Uncomfortable thin pillows.

Nice and clean

As usual, Ibis budget is worth considering for 1 night at a suitable location. From this perspective everything ok. Wgat is not ok is the arogancy of the front desk manager. I do not find appropriate when hotel staff mentors you in language when self being foreign and not speaking flawlessly.

Not the first stay at the hotel, normally it's better. Close to the airport and clean. This time at 4:00 o'clock and cold weather the water was cold. Couldn't take a warm shower. This is really not acceptable.

The hotel is close to Dortmund airport and the check-in, check out and payment process was straightforward with the automatic machine.

Very helpful and kind staff. Hotel is budget in price and name but its clean and quiet - everything what you need when traveling. The only downside is smell of cigarettes on the corridors

My experience was good. The location of the hotel near the airport is exactly what I need in case my flight is early in the morning.

- Had explicitly asked for accessible room as my mother is in a wheelchair but got room on second floor! - no lift - no reception

It did the job. Good clean room to sleep night, a great wifi, decent breakfast. This is all i expected and needed and i got that.

Great experience! Just smell in the bathroom was not pleasant.

As an English person not having tea/coffee in the room was a shock but there was a hot drink as well as cold drink and snacks vending machine in the lobby. Hotel was clean and quiet. Very good night's sleep. Would definitely use again

Budget hotel aimed at people like me travelling on a budget. But it was clean, functional and all I needed.

We arrived shortly before 5pm so had to wait for reception to open. When the man arrived he was not at all friendly and barely greeted us. I had requested in advance at least one, if not both, rooms be on the ground floor unless there was a lift (there wasn't) so when I was given both rooms on the first floor (and there was no handrail) I pointed out my request when booking for ground floor rooms, explaining that my mother was 98 and could not manage the stairs easily. The receptionist's reaction was one of irritation and he changed the rooms with no sign of good grace, saying nothing other than giving us new rooms. One of the 2 rooms would not open on the door lock number and I had to go back to request a new key number. There was no apology, no smile, he just allocated me a different room with a new number. My mother's room smelt musty and we had to open the window to air it. The shower had no grab rail or non-slip mat, so my mother could not have a shower (this was the same with all 4 IBIS Budget hotels we used during this trip to Europe), despite the fact IBIS considered having disabled guests as there was a disabled parking place (though this was used by someone not displaying a disabled badge, so it is clearly not monitored). IBIS should state on the website that the hotels are not suitable for disabled people. We had a further problem with the door codes - the following morning I attempted to open my mother's door to see if she was up and packed to find the door code would not work, despite half a dozen attempts to open it. I had to shout very loudly and bang on her door until she heard (she is very hard of hearing) so she could open the door to me. Had my mother had a problem and been unable to get to the door, I dread to think what might have happened if the door could not be opened.
