« A fair price, but I'd rather pay more for a better stay »

The staff were very friendly and the room was clean, but both building standard, room, soundproofing and breakfast were not what I expected. - strong draught through window frames - no heating in bathroom - loud a/c unit right in front of room's window - noisy event with loud music right under room until 1am - breakfast was alright, but quality and selection could be better. Nice touch though: coffee available to go

My stay in this hotel was ok and the room could of done some work on it as the paint by the window was pealing and the desk was awful needs a new one and needs more bins in the room and needs a good paint work..

« It`s Stevenage, it`s an Ibis! »

Another good stay met by some very nice staff. Centrally located for all things Old Town, shops, buses, trains and road links. Clean and despite some of it`s reviews by a n other the hotel is tired and in places in needs of a makeover.

« Fine for a one night stay but a couple of comments »

The room was fine except that there was a coffee mark on the window sill and something like coffee splashes on the bathroom door ( both would wipe off easily based on a quick try ) - surely room cleaner should spot this. Signs in the lift saying refurb work would be finished in October on November 22/23. Glad I wasn't staying the Saturday night with music until 2am

« DISAPPOINTED »

On arrival the receptionist was polite checked in etc, went to my room 502 on the 5th floor, the room was VERY hot and had a strong smell of urine. I went to reception and advised the receptionist who was going to get a member of staff to spray the room which I declined. The room was changed to room 206 on the 2nd floor, unfortunately this room was cold constantly blowing cold air (not happy) I went back downstairs to reception and advised we have no heating, she checked in the back office and apparently turned on the heating, I did advise from my booking online it was my girlfriends birthday I also advised the receptionist on my first visit to reception as I wanted it nice as we were out all day and were due to go out for dinner later (this was just a stop over) I reattended reception again as there was no shower cap in the bathroom which is pretty much standard in every hotel. When I asked the receptionist for a shower cap by this time she was pretty pissed off with me as this was my third visit within an hour of checking in. (I ended up purchasing one from tesco across the way)

In relation to shower caps it is not a standard in a 2 star ibis hotel to provide such. « Below normal Accor standards »

Rather disappointing - whilst staff were okay the hotel itself was below average and my room smelled of damp, not particularly clean or pleasant and what I would have expected from a independent cheap hotel. For the price it was not good value and not up to usual Accor standards. I’ve stayed at Ibis Budget hotels at a third of the price that were better standard. Notices on site said that refurbishments had recently been completed in October? Certainly didn’t feel like that. Will always use Novotel, Ibis Styles & Ibis budget elsewhere but if working in Stevenage again will look elsewhere, sorry.

Brendan at reception was very polite and helpful. Room was clean and well equipped, two single mattresses pulled together though which was the only negative point. Hotel has recently been refurbished and interior was smart.

« Very disappointing, will not return »

I stayed at the Ibis Stevenage on Monday 11th November in room 520. The room was extremely poor with stains on the walls and carpet. There was paint peeling off the walls, a stained throw on the bed and despite no windows open there were 2 flies in the room when I arrived. The whole place felt dirty. On leaving the following morning I voiced my concerns to the person on reception who seemed more interested in telling me two people had left without settling their account and said "See you mate". Very unprofessional in my view. Overall a very poor service and stay and I won't return.

« Good hotel, strong refurbishment, one major hiccup »

I had a good stay in the hotel, in a recently refurbished room which I was very impressed with. I was particularly grateful to your receptionist who put me in a room at the end of the corridor when she saw I had a late checkout - to prevent noise etc. The main let down was that, having booked a late check out, I was still woken by a member of staff knocking on my door 15 minutes after the regular checkout time informing me I had to check out, despite a "do not disturb" sign. I had prebooked the late checkout at time of booking so I was very unimpressed (I can understand how it might have happened if I had chosen it on a whim). One of the most stressful things about staying in a hotel for a lot of people is the fear of being woken by the "housekeeping knock" so this was really disappointing.

« Great except the parking »

Having got there late evening and having to leave early morning dragging my case up and down 2 flights of car park stairs with beer cans and needles it not something I would ever want to repeat.

We had a nice room on the 4th floor. Room looked "tired" with wallpaper that has been ripped, but I understand they are re-vamping the hotel, new carpet had already been laid in the public areas.
