The room was okay but a bit run down. Carpet needs replacing etc. Also no restaurant on a Sunday night for guests and then had to go out and try and find somewhere to eat. The menu needs to be a bit more extensive as well. However, it was good and we enjoyed it but for myself if I had to use it twice I would have had to have the same items again. Service was excellent as well as reception. However, the parking on Saturday night was terrible. Cars were backed up and it was very unsettling waiting with barriers etc. Also I did not leaving my cars keys with valuables in my car as well but everything was okay.

Rooms need a upgrade, great location, rooms needed a better clean as their was grime on the bath tub & hair on the bed sheets as well as the bins weren't empty from the guests that were in the room before my check in.

The location is great and the large heated pool, spa the best kept secret. The rooms are large but unfortunately dated with some maintenance issues. Our bathroom did not have a sink hole drain and we lost our toothbrush. Bathrooms don’t have exhaust fans and become steamy. The reception desk is often very busy and required to wait. The bar and restaurant has friendly staff and service though dinner food quality needs to be improved. The breakfast buffet is quite good.

It has been sometime since we have stayed and we were really looking forward to our short break.We have stayed in the one bedroom apartments on our last few stays but this stay was very disappointing.Usually all cutlery and crockery are fully supplied but not this time.Went to reception to see if all the shortages could be supplied and was told these items had to specified when we booked.Why do you have to specify to have dinner plates and knives in the drawers.The problem was solved with 2 paper dinner plates and one knife to be able to eat a meal.

We have asked for late checkout over phone and the person agreed with an extra charge which we were happy to pay. But on check in they said it is not possible. Again after multiple discussions they said it is possible with an extra pay. But on next day, a women barged into the room asking why we did not check out. Again we had to explain yesterday's conversation and then she way like sorry etc. Can they maintain a log or leave proper notes for their other team members?

This hotel in a great location in heart of Canberra and staff were very pleasant. However it is looking very tired and dirty. The foyer, carpet hallways and paint hallways needs upgraded. Rooms very old looking definitely not Novotel standard. Breakfast was very good but dinner menue lacked options. 2 lamb dishes but no steak at all. Restaurant area quite pleasant Overall still had a pleasant stay.

Poor service at reception and in the restaurant marred our stay. Waited 45 mins for room to be ready. ( priority member booking) Also waited for dinner even though booking was made, and many tables remained empty throughout our dinner period. Walk ins were accommodated if they argued enough, while we calmly waited. Dinner service slow, restaurant noisy and had the feel of a cafeteria, especially when we had to fetch our own table water and queue in the middle of the room at the cash register to pay the bill. Room was large but tired and worn, with the bathroom door rotting and hard to close. Plumbing noise from next door disturbed our sleep. The whole place had the ambiance of a badly run coach tour hotel, not of the standard I expect of a Novotel.

My colleges and I have been staying at the Novotel Canberra for nearly ten years and requesting the same room 428 and it's in my file notes as well. We normally book about four to five weeks in advance and book directly with the hotel. This could be up to five to seven times a year. I auto check in online the day before to make it easier. On my arrival on Sunday evening I received two swipe cards for another room, 423 to which I didn't notice until I couldn't get into my normal room. At this stage I seen it was room 423 and opened the door and it was smaller to what I have booked prior and I was charged the same price as well. So, I came back downstairs to complain that this isn't good enough and that I have booked this over a month ago to my requested room 428. The male receptionist told me that they were 99% full and were unable to move me to the requested room that I booked or a similar size room. So, I asked to speak to Adrian the GM he told me that Adrian was on annual leave and mysteriously they found me a room after mentioned that I wanted a refund. After fifteen to twenty minutes of this at the counter and being embarrassed at the same time in front of many people behind me either checking in or out the receptionist guy gave me two bottles of water which he said, for any inconvenience. Which Novotel probably get them for free isn't good enough, furthermore when they downsized my room at the start of the evening I was still being charged for the bigger room as well. In the past I've had contact with many issues and resolved issues with Simon McGrath Chief Operating Officer - Pacific, I'm hoping that I will get the same outcome and service from you.

Sewage smell in bathroom. Party music and people laughing since we checked in on Saturday until midnight. Broken phone in the room, webspiders and dust all over the window, tv unit. Unwelcoming young Asian female receptionist, rude and annoyed when asked questions. Helpful housekeepers, we were missing hangers in the room, brought them very fast.
