« Houskeeping come 3 times in to my room »

First of all, when I entered the room I smelled a strange smell. I opened all windows before I left to an evening event. However when I came back the smell was still there. In the morning, housekeeping came in 3 times without knocking on the door or announcement. The location is very convenient and the front office staff was friendly. With best regards Julio

« Location excellent - we had no car - staff very helpful. »

My wife has reduced mobility, so that having a room with a disabled shower room, as well as a 'normal, bathroom was extremely helpful. It would have been very difficult for my wife to step into the bath to use the shower in the latter. The hotel had clearly taken note of my comment on the booking webpage of the reduced mobility problem. It was not so good that the disabled room filled with water on showering - apparently a problem with levels rather than a blockage - and needed the loan of a squeegie (?) to get the water to the drain. The staff were very helpful in every department. Location excellent for a lady of reduced mobility to go shopping! Having the entrance to the hotel on the 3rd floor, with a big-ish step to get into the building, was a little odd.

« Hotel in the right place »

My wife has reduced mobility, so it was brilliant to have a room with both a 'normal' and a disabled shower room, otherwise she would have found it very difficult to climb over the side to use the shower over the bath. We were here from England for a family occasion, but shopping was also on the list. For this the location is excellent. Slightly odd having an hotel that starts on floor 3, but the staff were most helpful in seeing to our special needs. Happy to recommend.

I was given a very good room with separate seating area and plenty of luxuries - bathrobe, tea/coffee facilities, a bath as well as a shower, that you don't always get in medium-class hotels like this.

Unfortunately the front of the hotel is being renovated, which impacted our visit slightly. The hotel is very convenient for the city centre. Parking (and finding the car park) was a little challenge first time due to the road works in the vicinity. Service and room was fine.

The owner of the property informed us that the construction site in front of the building shall be finished in 11.2019. I am sorry for not beeing able to promise this, but we look really forward to it. If you visit Dortmund once more we can recommend the parking lot "Parken am Freistuhl" in the street am Freistuhl. It is located in the next street of the hotel and we are able to open the public parking lot 24/7 for hotel guests. Just ring the bell at the entrance of the garage. « Could do better »

Actually getting to the hotel is a challenge. I had read other reviews so I was prepared. However if you are parking a car and have luggage it is very challenging to make it through the heavily constructed vacant building that The Hotel resides in. The room itself was very comfortable and a good size. However it is very noisy outside and even on the fifth floor I have been awoken every night. I was a little disappointed that water was not included with the room even though I had their top-tier room. Additionally the staff as a whole is not too friendly. On the positive side The hotel is in a great location with lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance.

Staying in Mercure hotel Dortmund was a very good experience. Located directly in City Center of Dortmund and very close to Metrou Station "Kampstraße" it gives all opportunities to explore Dortmund. And the day starts with a good breakfast!

« Nice place to stay in central Dortmund »

Room was value for money. I think the cost of the breakfast was far too high - especially with a bakery below. So we never had breakfast. We had an issue where the fire alarm went off at 1.30am on a Saturday night.

« Quick trip for football »

I have stayed here many times and it is a good hotel in a great location for train station and restaurants. On my last night the fire alarm was set of at 01:15am I was shown the fire escape and we were all let back in around 2am. This was a false alarm that someone set off, the staff did their job well but as I only got a few hours sleep to get up early for the airport it would be nice if the hotel chain gave all a voucher or something for the inconvenience.

« Room a bit dated and cigarette odor present »

The moment I stepped into the room I ended up wondering if that was a room where smoking was allowed, because there a was a definite odor of cigarette smoke present, which of course it was a non-smoking room. The scent didn't seem to disappear over my two nights stay and came from the bathroom. In the end it didn't bother me too much, since I only stayed two nights but if I would have stayed longer I would have asked for a different room.

« A fine stay but somehwat hectic and unorganised at times »

The room was great but finding out there was a bed missing was a bit of a letdown. There were only 2 towels prepared too for a three person room. Our cards got blocked on the last day after noon so we couldn't go up anymore until we went to the service desk to reset them. Julia and the other employees have been very kind to us though, very helpful and a good chat..

« Dortmund Pokemon Go fest stay »

We were staying in the hotel due to our attendance on the Pokemon Go fest and I must say that the Hotel and the Staff were very well prepared. The Staff wearing Pokemon tshirts, the pokestop in the hotel lounge/bar area were very nice touches. Room was big, clean and well equipped, I think there was something wrong with the AC as it was not cooling down the temp but since we were not staying that much in the room the electric fan was just fine. The hotel is very well located so we had no trouble getting there from the Hauptbanhof and also no issues getting from the hotel to jest Westfalenpark. The only minus I could find was the lack of vegan options for breakfast so we had to stick to fruit and coffee. All in all it was a very pleasant stay and if we come next year to Pokemong Go Fest in Dortmund we will definitely choose the same hotel again.
