I have stayed with the hotel for the past 20 years. Recently things have started going down hill. During my last stay ( 29/11/2019), I checked in around 5 pm and the room was still not ready. When it was finally ready, the bed was not properly made, general cleanliness of the room left a lot to be desired and the linen was either too old or dirty. The breakfast was also horrible with very limited choices. I ordered omelette but they could only fill it with onions and green paper- nothing else. The bacon seemed like reheated left overs from days ago. The walls in the reception area could use fresh paint. What a let down! A huge step down from the high standard that I had grown accustomed to at this once-fine establishment.0

This is the perfect place to relax .. so calm.... just hearing the noise of birds... the hotel is so close to Illanga Mall were you can get anything.... i strongly recomend this all that want to go n relax for couple of days..

Although the mattress was satisfactory, I don't want to sleep on a single bed when I pay R1150 a night. The bathroom like I was in a school hostel, the TV reception was appalling. I had the air conditioner on 18c but it never came close to that temp. The breakfast for a R165 was terrible. the selection was poor and overall no value for money. I will not stay in the Mercure again.

We had a good stay, except neighbors where noisy. We fell a bit uncomfortable as Windows are without security bars. That's a security issue needs to be addressed. Imagine a scenario a female's neighbors is male, the female's will obviously fell uncomfortable. Everything was relaxing except the issues of security

The hotel needs to assess its rooms as my room required some maintenance. The shower pressure was low( It was fixed after i reported it) some lights required light bulb. Aircondition unit was not working properly. TV remote was also faulty.

« problems with booking in, asked a long time ago for suite 200 but previous guests had left late room not available »

I have stayed at the Mercure many times over the years. The rooms are looking tired. we stayed in 518. The carpet is marked and dirty, for self catering it is poorly equipped. the swimming pool looked green! We like the Mercure being central and previously always good. I specifically asked months ago for suite 200 as it is easily accessible, however this room was not ready as the previous guests left late and the suite had to be cleaned.
