I booked this hotel on my way to Melbourne whilst evacuating the East Gippsland Fires. Upon arrival, reception couldn't find my booking but upgraded my room anyway as I had an email confirmation. By 10pm I was settled in, I received a phone call from reception stating that my booking had been cancelled and I would need to pay immediately for my 3 nights. Being too tired to argue or sort it agreed to using my cc on file at reception. Whilst checking out I remembered my car.... I had forgotten to get it out of valet parking... ouch... I asked if they could waiver some of the valet parking fee so I could buy other evacuees items to take home. To their credit, the duty manager waivered the entire fee of $180. So THANK YOU Pullman Melbourne on Swanston. Although donations of goods were no longer needed, the $180 went to our local CFA, who have been working tirelessly to keep us safe.

« Great room and loved the lounge »

Our stay was thoroughly enjoyable from check-in to check-out. We chose the Pullman due to its location and access to a lounge. The staff at check-in were very helpful and welcoming and we were pleased that we could get into our room early. Although we couldn't get a room upgrade we were very satisfied with the high floor and the room we had was very well appointed and clean. The most pleasing area was the lounge with the staff being very attentive without being intrusive. The food and drinks were on a par with the better lounges that we have visited around Australia. First time we have had a daily cocktail available and the cooked appetizers were delightful. The only things that you may want to look at in terms of matching other lounge offers would be to offer some spirits in the evening and barista made coffee. Views from the lounge were great and the seating arrangements meant there were a few little nooks where you could feel a bit in your own space. A special thanks must go to Kevin (Lounge manager I think), Diana who took care of us in the lounge both evenings and the lovely lady (sorry I didn't get the name) who made our lounge breakfast (Wednesday 8 Jan) so pleasant. Also thanks to Kevin for getting our information tablet sorted. There were a couple of negatives but they were only what we would consider minor and in no way detracted from the overall experience. These related to the Accor privileges that are meant to be given. For our loyalty we usually receive a small gift (mostly a few chocolates), also we usually get a fresh bottle of water each night (we only received on the first night) and there is sometimes a turn down service as listed in the privileges. As I said these were only minor things that didn't really bother us as we understand that this is a new and developing hotel and some things may be missed in the early stages. All in all staying at the Pullman was a wonderful experience and we will certainly be looking at staying there on our next trip to Melbourne. Location great, Lounge great, standard of service great. Thank you.

« Room was perfect very clean and tidy. Bed very comfortable »

The only problem we had that our room was directly across from the lifts and been New Year's Eve people were coming in and out after midnight and making a lot of noise up till the morning. On the hole beside that I can highly recommend this motel, for it nice big room and cleanness and most comfortable bed. Ensuite very clean and tidy would stay there and highly recommend it to my family and friends and being in the heart of the city made a big difference. Thank you

« A comfortable stay in the CBD »

Easy to locate the property on Swanston St. New lobby was lovely. Check in went quickly and the lady was very helpful. I felt she was very personal in giving me all the information I needed to have a good stay. Room was well presented and clean. Bathroom products and glassware all of a high quality. Telescope in the room was a little strange but understand the designers may have felt the room needed an extra 'something' along with the chaise day bed and dining setting.

Receptionists were only friendly when they found out that we booked the club lounge. Concierges were veey friendly, as well as the waiters in the club lounge and the chef. The choice of snacks and canapees was a little limited but very tasty though. Breakfast was exeptionally good

The hotel was great - good location and okay service. Would have expected more of a warmer welcome as an Accor Plus member. The room was nice, clean, spacious and well appointed. A few niggles though - there was no soap in the shower dispenser (which was very disappointing). Other than that the room was great and the staff friendly.

Great hotel. Close to everything. Recently renovated and it looks great. Helpful staff. Breakfast was fantastic- order a la carte or buffet. Rooms large and comfortable. Situated close to China Town but walking distance to Lygon Street as well.

« Absolute joke. »

I paid top dollar to stay at the Pullman as the web site stated city view and images also showed a view over Bourke st. Upon arrival I was told the room we had been allocated was on lower ground and was offered to pay an additional $60 per night for a bigger room. I explained to the lady on the desk - Hayley, that I had booked a room at the hotel based on the city view and paid extra online to have the view. Nothing was done and I was told I’d still need to pay the extra $ per night for a room on a higher level. Upon check out when I had to make this additional payment, I queried again to ensure it wasn’t a mistake. I was again spoken to in a rude manner and was told more or less the website was wrong about the view and it was too bad. So how about if this is the case update your website ? Don’t advertise a City view and accept more money for a king room with a view if you’re only going to rip people off when they arrive and have paid upfront for a non refundable room. Absolute disgrace. I had already paid top dollar of $550 for two nights given the holiday season and really could have done without an extra slap of $$ per night. As for your staff. They should also learn customer service and how to speak to people. Also ever heard of compromise or meeting in the middle ? I’d of taken the additional costs much better had I been spoken to in a professional manner or some sort or compensation for tour hotels inability to advertise correctly.

Our experience was hard to fault, except for the fact that our room looked onto a concrete rooftop (same level). It would have been helpful to have had this pointed out to us at the time of booking, with the option of upgrading if that was what was required to have a more appealing view.
