« Great hotel for families. »

Glad we booked this hotel for Christmas day after a 15 hour to London. Rooms were big for London and we were able to rest and re-charge before touring London. Great for families as the sofa bed comfortably sleeps 2 people. Breakfast was very good and free for children eating with paying adults. The hotel is also great for people wanting to visit Borough Market. It is only a few minutes walk to the market allowing you to explore before the bus loads of tourists arrive.

« Overall a good stay. A few issues »

We were there 7 nights and overall it was fine. It was clean, the beds pretty comfortable, and facilities were in good working order. We had a suite to accommodate our family of 4, and our first suite was on the 5th floor, directly under the gym. Our ceiling shook early in the morning (before we planned to be awake) due to the use of weight equipment right above us, but it was 2 nights before we could be moved due to availability. Our second suite was much quieter, which we appreciated, but was missing a tv. For the amount we were paying per night, I was surprised to find the electrical cords just sitting there on the wall, but no tv. Our children were disappointed to not have a tv, esp after having had one the first few nights. The positive about the suite is that it is spacious, esp for a week stay. I do find the toilet, shower, and sink in room situation odd (esp that the “mirrored” shower is pretty see through) and that you cannot lock the toilet room for ensured privacy. The food quality was good, but the lines for breakfast were ridiculous. We even tried going at the “yellow” and “green” time slots, and only one day did we not have to wait. One day we had to go ahead and leave to get breakfast elsewhere on the go so we did not miss an event to which we had tickets. Dinner in the restaurant was tasty, but we only ate there once because it took 2.5 hours despite not being very busy. We had to flag down staff at every step to order, get the food we did order, get our check, etc. several staff members were super friendly and helpful (unfortunately don’t know names), but staff particularly at meals (Esp dinner in the restaurant) were often unpleasant or even rude. We did like the location and felt safe, but would likely not return because of breakfast wait times and somewhat lack of value for money paid.

« Good location hotel with nice staff »

I like the location of this hotel as it is very close to Borough Market to enjoy eating and shopping. Also the staff & manager are very nice since after knowing that I missed the chance of free room upgrade due to high occupancy they agreed to give me complimentary breakfast for all 3 nights stay. The fitness club at the top floor is also fruitful equipped so I was happy to exercise en route my trip. Some disappointment also experienced. One night when I had some drinks in the hotel bar and asked for some nuts the serving lady told me that I can take some crisp which laid on the counter so I took some of them just to learn later that it not for free but expensively charged to my bill. Another thing is that the room is a bit too small and no any free bottle of water given in spite of high room rate and also the TV screen is out of order so I was not able to watch TV throughout my stay. Breakfast is rather satisfactory however if the hotel add more variety of food (such as oriental foods) it will be perfect. Check in was not a good experience for me as the hotel does not provide fast lane for ALL-Accor members and it's terrible because there was only one staff attending a long queue of guest. Check out was fine, some staff and Manager John mutually assisted me a lot of help until completed.

After initially turning up to the wrong Novotel ( Tower Bridge instead of London Bridge) our actual stay at this hotel was fantastic and we were very impressed with the whole check in process, staff were very welcoming and our room was very good. We really loved the fact we could have our young children in the same room as us ( a fold out bed was provided) The furnishings were lovely at the hotel and we were most impressed with the bar area/ check in and the breakfast area. Breakfast was impressive especially the fact that vegetarian sausages were already cooked and out with the cooked breakfast rather, as in a lot of hotels, where you have to ask for them or they don’t cater for vegetarians at all. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and we would stay there ourselves again.

« Well located for central London, although Southwark Bridge rather than London Bridge »

Modern hotel, where we had a recently updated room. We used the hotel as a hub to explore London, and found it well based for that. Not sure why being able to see in to the bathroom from the be dis a good idea, even with the ability to apply a 'privacy' screen; and disappointed to see evidence of water ingress from one part of the shower partition in to the sleeping area. Surprised that, for an updated room, that the media hub did not work (no power, so could no use to charge devices or use Bluetooth speaker) and the landline telephone was in a poor state of repair.

Plus points : Friendly staffs, decent breakfast , great location to London undergroud, access to Tesco supermarket and pharmacy Points for improvement : The food quality is par below. The room which I was darkish.Insufficient lighting. On top the bathroom glasses were transparent hence if you are with family it is very disturbing.

1) They charged me wrongly. 2) They lost I bag, I am still awaiting for there reply. 3) Very poor service. 4) Room was very noisy because gym was just above our room. 5) We have half board reservation but they did not fulfill it.

Check in good, beds a bit hard for wife's liking. Cleaning lady woke us at 08.30? Large crowds at breakfast which overwhelmed the staff, understaffed. Shortages of cups, glasses and some foods. Staff doing their best Reception ladies totally over stretched, 2 ladies having to multi task for 3 or 4 peoples jobs. Phones, checking in and out, luggage , taxis etc etc. I have noticed lack of staffing in many Novotel's this year, properties looking dated and lacking investment.

All good, except the bathroom sink does not drain fast enough (so it's dirty after first use) and the electricity problem : the hotel could supply only 2 power adapters for 3 people, and all those USB sockets in the room are useless, as everything today uses USB-C.
