Difficult to get hold of someone regarding refund. First phone call regarding refund, the lady (I didn't get her name) who took the call has an attitude problem and not helpful at all. Final call regarding the refund, the lady (Olivia) was professional and helpful and whole thing was sorted within 5 minutes.

The cova virus impacted our overall experience. Good to see hand sanitizer there. We enquired a week early about safety and if the recent tourist who was infected had stayed there and had No reply so were very disappointed. In light of things and having paid we felt pressured to use up the stay. Restaurant was okay, food was great but waiting staff very inexperienced. We were charged drinks that weren’t ours and when requesting a cocktail was suggested we go elsewhere yet the ingredients required behind the bar.

Booked into Novotel as the Mercure Abel Tasman could only take us for 2 nights. In hindsight, we probably should have stayed all 3 nights, but a bit expensive

Stopping overnight on way home

The staff were friendly and helpful. We had a problem with neighbors in the next room, young boys kept us awake until 3am. We complained next morning and the Manager told us later in the day that these people had been spoken to and if it happened again for us to let them know. The next night the neighbors were very quiet. Food in the dinning room was exceptional one of the staff Christopher was a lovely young man who made us smile he was very attentive and friendly

Hey Team, Overall it was a really positive and comfortable stay, my only dissapointment was around the food quality, it would be nice if you were able to offer a la carte for breakfast in the restaurant rather than just buffet. There appeared to be an eggs station but no engagement from the chef to say "would you like some eggs?" or anything like that. I had breakfast included in my booking, but chose to eat at Sterling down the road after two average experiences. The pizza we had was nice but the spanokopita left much to be desired, I will be travelling to Wellington often as part of my role (once covid is over) and it would be nice to have Novotel WLG as my home away from home, but the food quality needs to be lifted substantially.

Parked car in 5 minute zone went into lift to go to reception, the lift was absolutely filthy. Not a great first impression

I've stayed several times at the Novotel Wellington and have previously provided feedback that the options for non-dairy consumers at breakfast were lacking, even in comparison to other Novotel hotels in New Zealand. It was great, therefore, to find Soy milk and non-dairy spreads available at the breakfast buffet this time. Thanks for taking on board the feedback!

I enjoyed my stay at the Novotel. The facilities were clean and the room comfortable and well-serviced. The only negative to my stay was a restaurant staff member who made several comments to me in passing during my stay. The staff member was not Asian but was short with dark hair and male. He called me 'wanker' amongst other things when I was walking through the restaurant area to the lifts to take me down to Lambton Quay. I was not disruptive or rude and in no way felt this was warranted. The reception staff were friendly, helpful and happy to help when I needed it. I would recommend this hotel and would consider staying there again despite the attitude of the single staff member who is letting the team down.

Well located, but restaurant down stairs is too cold

The restaurant down stairs by the lobby is too cold. We have stayed a couple of times now and everytime we have been really cold while eating our meal and have decided that we will not stay there again as it is not enjoyable to be cold while eating your meal. Which is a shame as the food is great.

Being charged a 2% surcharge from such a large corporate company is disappointing - it's certainly not cheap to stay at your hotel. I travelled for over 5 weeks in New Zealand and you were the only hotel that charged me this and I stayed at a lot smaller and larger hotels than yourself. I will be feeding this back to the travel agent.
