« The reception and room cleaning services were excellent. »

We were very happy about reception and room cleaning services. They did a great work. The only thing we couldn't understand was paper cups rather than using glass ones. Also, a wine opener in the room is also a necessity for us.

Stayed one night for business in this Mercure hotel a little old but clean. Quite difficult to find for the taxi arriving from Roma Termini. Typical Mercure breakfast like everywhere else - could have had a little italian touch.

« Lovely stay, great room, poor restaurant. »

Room 200 was wonderfully spacious and comfortable. Good to have kettle & teabags. Lovely bathroom. It was noisy outside during the night & early morning (through closed windows). During online checkout we requested a baby cot but none was available on arrival. Very nice reception staff fixed this for the next night. The lady in charge of the restaurant was abrupt and hard to get hold of. Prices seemed ok but portions were small and the food arrived quite cold. We chose to eat elsewhere every other night. Breakfast was very nice indeed.

being close to the metro station was perfect to get around and back to the hotel. Hotel staff were very helpful and although we only ate breakfast at the hotel we were very satisfied with the variety offered at breakfast time, just what was needed for long day trips around the city.

« Quiet location with easy access to public transport and neighbourhood restaurants nearby »

This hotel was recommended to us as I had an engagement at the nearby university. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel seems to be undergoing an (overdue!) refurbishment at the moment - there were workmen in the two rooms adjacent to our room on the 6th floor. However, any noise was kept to the advertised hours. We eagerly await the refurbishment in the hope that the hotel will have a more contemporary look to it, in line with the bright breakfast room. Our room was fine; the bed perhaps a little bit bouncy. We didn't need to use the airconditioning (it is October). The bathroom was fine, although the toiletpaper was almost transparent - not exactly a good way of minimising use. One thing that did strike us was that the walls between the rooms seemed to be very thin (we could hear every brushstroke of the decorator in the room next door), so perhaps the refurbishment might include improvements to sound protection. Breakfast was good, too - there was a good choice. Perhaps less than one would see in other Mercure hotels, but still a lot more variety than we would have at home, so nothing for us to complain about. A fruit salad might have been nice, although fresh fruit was available. Staff were friendly and efficient. Overall, we liked the neighbourhood location, away from the busy city centre. A metro station is nearby and only 4 stops from the centre/Termini station. This is a hotel we would definitely consider for our next stay in Rome.

« Don't ask staff to call a taxi for you »

I was leaving Rome from the Ciampino airport at 6.30 am. The evening before I asked the staff at the reception to arrange a taxi for me and got the price of 60 EUR! However, in Rome the price of a taxi ride from the city centre to Ciampino is 30 EUR, which is set by law, and the hotel is located about 10 min drive from the centre. So this attempt to charge me extra 30 EUR is an outright fraud.

Let me explain about the taxi. First of all when we call a taxi, than he goes on meters so the Hotel is outside the control of it. The Hotel is outside the Aurelian wall, that means there is not fix rate for the airports but the taxi have to turn on the meter (the machine they used). Inside the Aurelian wall the rate for Ciampino is €48,00 and for Fiumicino is €48,00 (not €30,00) But, I repeat the Hotel is outside the Aurelian wall so the taxi does not have fix rate. But consider that from our Hotel to Ciampino in normal working ours (06:00am to 10pm) is about 50/60 depends how much traffic you meet on the way. We do have private car for Ciampino with fix rate of €55,00 reserving in advance. I hope i have been clear and I'm at your disposal for any further needs. Ugly, old, dirty rooms. Very poor breakfast - low variety and quality. The bed was very small. The Wi-Fi was barely working - hard to load a regular page, not to mention streaming music or video. Location is ok, close to metro station.

1 Immediately after making my reservation online I received a phone call from one of the hotel employees urging me to guarantee my reservation with a credit card number, on the grounds that the hotel was almost fully booked; I found this unacceptable, non compliant of the rate's specific terms and conditions, and I did not oblige. 2 The room (room 510) is ugly. 3 There is not even a chair on the widely advertised balcony. 4 There was a 100% plastic mattress pad on top of the mattress, in other words, I was expected to sleep on a plastic mattress with only a bedsheet separating me from the plastic sheet. 5 The rest was Mercure standard. We usually do with the non guarantee reservation but only to confirm they arriving before 6pm. I'm sorry you did not like room 510, but is one of our balcony room. I'm very surprised to read about the chair because in each balcony there are two chairs with one small table. I went to check room 510 and there is a small table with two chairs on the balcony.
