The stay was great. I really have nothing to complain about. Would have been nice to have in room coffee ☕ other than that this hotel has everything you need to have a great trip to Trier.

Everything was perfect as usual. The hotel was spotless and the staff are amazing, they really couldn’t do any more to help with any queries.The reception staff and the 2 ladies in the bar are a real asset to the hotel. We only had one issue and that was the waiter in the bar. We thought he could be a bit more friendly. He was quite rude to our son for eating his McDonalds at the table out front of the hotel while we were finishing our drinks. The restaurant was closed at this stage, it was around 11 pm, so we didn’t see a problem with it. If it is not permitted, a quiet word would suffice, rather than telling him off quite loudly in front of the other guests. This would not stop us from returning to the hotel as we absolutely love it.

Beautiful view at the Porte Negra Room is not big but good enough Parkplatz next to the hotel At busy street but windows are well isolated

Room was comfortable, perfect size. We opted for room with a view of Porta Nigra - well worth the extra. Easy access to historic altstadt and restaurants. Parking within hotel premises was convenient as we checked in fairly late. EU 14/day for in and out access throughout the stay worthwhile in my opinion. Did not opt for breakfast as we planned on heading out early most days. Shower area was good sized. However the half partition could not prevent water from spilling out on to bathroom floor when I had to wash my hair. We did have some bizarre occurrences during our stay. My husband got locked into a stairwell one morning and had to call me to get someone to let him out. He had walked into a door someone was just coming out of thinking he could just take the stairs down from first floor instead of waiting for an elevator. The person who walked out made no attempt to prevent my husband from going in as should have been done for a door which cannot be opened from inside without a key. On the day before we left, someone opened the door of our room with a key card and walked in while my husband was there. We were not expecting room service since Hotel staff had already clarified that they will not be doing that unless we requested it. Person who entered was wearing a facemask (like everyone in COVID times), a jacket with the hood still covering the face and carried a backpack. He saw my husband muttered something and walked out. My husband went down to enquire who was given the key to our room and got the key card re-coded. He saw the same guy hanging out by the elevator on the way back to the room. Guess it partly explained why the front door was ocassionally locked even during day time.

We ( 2 Adults and one 8yo.) had a nice two night stay at the hotel. Did not have any food so cannot rate that. Parking was reasonable and the location can't be beat. We had a room with direct view of the Roman Gates it was amazing. Would stay there again.

Check in and parking were a breeze. Our view of the Porta Nigra and Trier were terrific. I was surprised that there was only one pillow per person and no shampoo or body wash, but that was fine. I slept great. The room was clean and quiet.

We were here for a one night stay on our journey from UK to the Bodensee. Trier was about half way (and safely inside Germany) so this was our first choice. Trier is a lovely city with a great history. The hotel was clean and friendly and very comfortable for us. Parking is not cheap, but it is the city centre so to be expected!

We made a quick trip for our first visit to Trier. The hotel location could not have been more convenient, being across the street from Porta Nigra and all the city's major attractions. Staff was friendly and consistent about their COVID precautions. Parking was convenient. We passed on breakfast in favor of getting an early start on seeing the city. Overall, a good first impression and likely to have us return in the future.

great location, rooms clean if a little dated, towels were clean but very worn. Staff were always pleasant and helpful. Parking charges really expensive. Restaurant shut very early.

On arrival at 1300 loca room wasn’t ready although two companions rooms were. At 1700 called to collect key and was sent to a room which had not been serviced. Eventually was found a room. You have no USB charging sockets in any of the bedrooms this needs attention as one would be sufficient as in most other hotels I have visited recently.

The hotel is directly in front of the porta nigra. Easy to reach also the city center with all the shops and caffees.Rooms are good. Breadfast too. Parking space is unfortunately very expensive.The bar opens unfortunately only in the evening 5pm.

The staff where very nice and helpful at the front desk and the hotel was clean. It is also in an excellent location. My negative comment is about breakfast. I asked what the breakfast was like since it is during COVID and was told it would be a full buffet. It was dry scrambled eggs, so kind a sausage and beans. The bread and croissants where are dry and stale. I only took breakfast as I wanted to get up early and eat before cycling for the day and this was terrible.

This is a very fine hotel. Very helpful persons at the reception. The room was fine and clean, ours overloking the Porta Nigra. Breakfast was fine and the restaurant spacious. The bar was open from 5o'clock and it is possibly to sit outside and enjoy af good german beer. It seems like it was build in the 1970'ies when you looked at the breakfast-restaurant and the broad staircase from the reception. The bathroom was also Accor-classic, which gave us a lot of space to put out things and everything worked fine and was very clean, which felt good and safe in covid-19-times

We booked a room with a view on the Porta Nigra. These rooms are more expensive but we thought it would be worth it. When we checked in and went to the room, we realised that we got a room with a 'view' but on the carpark at the back of the hotel. As we cannot imagine that the booking systems used by Mercure do not indicate the type of room their guests are booking, we assume that the very unfriendly receptionist was not paying attention or worse ... tried to cheat. Our very positive impression we got at the Mercure in Koblenz the night before, changed completely to a very negative one of Mercure and Accor in general.

I sincerely apologize for the deficiencies and human errors that unfortunately caused inconveniences for you. It sure looks like there were some major flaws within the reservations department including the check-in procedures. Sorry to also learn that the behaviour of the staff at reception was less than satisfactory. I appreciate your honest critique which will be the basis for discussions within our local team - and a careful evaluation of the root of these problems. Rest assured that we will take necessary measures so that an experience like yours will continue to be the rare exception. Rooms clean and recently renovated. Staff were very friendly and helpful but I had asked for a room suitable for disability and ended up with a room at the far end of the 5th floor = not good in event of emergency.

Great Mercure hotel from Accor group... we had superior double on 5th floor with view of Porta Nigra - well worth the extra! Very efficient and quiet A/C which was absolutely necessary when the temp was 36deg outside. Nice breakfast but pricey at E16.. Car parking was E13 per night but was right below the hotel and well lit and easy access.

Hotel overlooking the Porta Nigra was convenient to the town (just across the road) and railway station. The room was a little tired but still good value for money, and the restaurant food was consistently very enjoyable.
