The staff made me feel very spoilt. Any assistance I needed re television and air-conditioner was promptly and cheerfully attended to. My room was perfect, the balcony gave me space to set up my small easel so that I could enjoy a little watercolour painting. Meals were very good and, again, any small changes to the dish I ordered were cheerfully done. Hope to come back again before Christmas. Thanks everyone.

Lovely place to stay, great location with a short walk to War Memorial and then an energetic walk up Mt Ainsley. Central to everything. I was staying for work reasons but I will definitely bring my husband back for a weekend away.

Twas a decent enough getaway from the city. Very good location with free parking included & that’s hard to find in the heart of Canberra. The welcome bubblies was also most appreciated. We can’t fault the warmth & friendliness of the staff. They were genuinely nice people. However, the place REALLY REALLY REALLY needs a massive facelift. The dirty rickety lift, the stinky carpet in the lobby by the fireplace, the furniture, are sooo dated. We even requested to see a vacant loft room, thinking of upgrading. But upon inspection, the room was in the same state — pretty dated, and even dirtier ... the kitchen cupboards had cockroach poo at the sides, and the bathroom was moldy. The state of the hotel borders the fine line between “character” and “run down”. We understand, Olims may be an icon in the community. However, if Accor acquired it, then rebrands it with the prestigious “Mercure”, we expect a lot more. One more thing, although staff friendliness is faultless, numbers are left wanting. To have only 1 person man the front desk all the time, is not a very good idea of customer service. No one can help us with bringing luggage to our room, because that one person can’t leave the desk. No one will be left to check in the other guests. Again, no one can help us with luggage checking out. Same reason: that one person can’t leave the desk. What’s the point then of having the big luggage trolleys in the concierge entrance, if no one is available to man it? A good night’s sleep and pretty decent meals is what we had. A bit disappointed, all else, though. If there will be a major refurbishment, contact us for the re-launching and we’ll be more than happy to come back.

We had quite a long stay and it had a very homely feel. The room was large and comfortable, the gardens and common areas elegant and attractive. All of the staff we dealt with were excellent in their communication and friendliness.

An overnight stay to visit family, the only issue I had was the water was not very hot in the morning. It was only just warm enough to have a shower with the hot tap on full.

This is the 2nd stay I’ve had here this month and am looking forward to my next stay. The front desk staff are friendly And extremely helpful. And have surprised me with several special extras on arrival which was amazing! I’ll definitely be staying here again. Only minor fault was the bar didn’t have any fresh lemon or lime for drinks.

We really enjoyed our stay at Mecure Canberra. The room was clean, very spacious and comfortable (we were in the loft room overlooking the lovely courtyard). Staff were all wearing masks and the hotel was adhering to COVID safe practices. The hotel is very centrally located and only a 10 minute walk to the shopping center. There were no problems parking. One thing that really stood out were the staff. From reception to the bar and restaurant, all the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. The only thing is that the hotel is looking a little tired and it would be great if it was restored to its former glory. Overall though a great stay.

Mecure Canberra is a favourite hotel for our family to stay in while in Canberra, this was our fourth visit as gold Accor members. On arrival we were allocated room 703 - deluxe courtyard room with sofa bed and rollaway. On entry to room all beds were ready and made up as requested which was great . The overall cleanliness / appearance of this room was not up to the usual standard at Mecure Canberra. Dirty carpets, very worn stairs/ woodwork & the loft balustrade had significant movement which I was not comfortable with, with children in the room. We asked reception for a room change which was promptly organised and we were moved to a much better quality room next door - room 705. We were very happy with the quality of this room compared to 703. Please can 705 be looked at and possibly tidied up, especially the balustrade that is moving /unsafe. Overall, we had a lovely stay apart from the first room we were allocated. Staff very accomodating, lovely meal in Olims for dinner and very COVID safe.

We travelled to Canberra from Shellharbour, NSW for a 3 night getaway to celebrate my birthday. We have stayed in Canberra many times over the years but this was our first stay at the Mercure Canberra. It can be said that it is a grand, older style hotel with a touch of modern. We were not disappointed. Our room was comfortable, clean and well maintained with a balcony overlooking beautiful gardens. The staff were very attentive, helpful and friendly. They remembered our names and would ask 'how is your stay going ****' 'what are your plans today?' or 'is there anything we can help you with?' The adjoining Olims Bar/Restaurant/Pub where we enjoyed coffee, drinks and meals a couple of times was of the same standard. Personal touches like remembering it was your birthday and seeking you out in the lounge area to give you a birthday cocktail added to our experience of our stay. We would stay there again and next time we will take our little dog as this is also a 'dog friendly' hotel. Thank yo to all at the Mercure Canberra for making our stay a memorable one!

Have stayed with you more than once previously. Given the situation created by COVID I must forgive a lot of issues, however I should mention a couple: >> Breakfast was appalling. I accept the difficulties of the time but would have been far better not having breakfast at all. >> the property is c[early in need of some work and when restrictions are lifted further, I trust minor issues will receive attention and Mercure Braddon will get back to its usual high standard in all respects.
