Quick check in , friendly & polite staff, good safe parking , comfortable clean rooms with good bathroom. Terrific breakfast with very nice staff. Only small thing was the a/c could have been cooler. But everything else was very enjoyable. Thank you .

fire alarm caused by asian cooking in rooms,very noisy traffic in hallways. company preferred hotel and don't always get the best rest.

Happy with the service received for our event. Lily the Events Manager was attentive and understanding of processes working in a government department (e.g approvals for invoices/contracts). Clients were happy with the venue on the day. Would recommend this venue to my clients in the future.

There were a few problems when I first got into room 349. Globe on desk lamp not working. Safe not working. Shower door getting jammed and amenities not stocked properly. Next morning I reported it to reception and it was fixed by the time I got back to my room later that night. When I checked out I was greeted by Ray. What a lovely ray of sunshine she was. Nothing was too much effort. She told me she had a late shift the night before and was called in to start an early shift on Sunday. She checked me out promptly and even helped me to load my suitcases into the car, parked in the basement. She even helped me to locate the petrol lever as I had a hire car and couldn’t locate it. She came prepared with her torch to find it. Which we discovered was just a touch of the petrol cap. What a gem she was. She made my stay very enjoyable.

Rooms were small and stuffy. Windows blocked out with no view. Bar closed on Sunday afternoon and public holiday without notice although still issued with drink voucher for overnight stay. Food very ordinary. Not up to usual Accor standard.

I wish to inform you about a recent change to our hotel operations; it has been decided that our Federal Restaurant and Bar will be closed on Sunday afternoons, following our morning breakfast period. In-Room dining options are still available to all guests 7 days a week. This was a recent change and we apologies for any inconveniences this may have caused. I do also sincerely apologise about the fire going off and the announcements not being heard in the room, please know this is being followed up by our WHS team for improvements to be made. I had to change the date of my stay and even though I am an Accor member i had to book within 3 months or lose my money. This was not possible

TWO VISITS: TWO CONTRASTING ROOMS

Despite being Accor members and having stayed at a lot of different Accor Hotels, we have NIL points due to not booking on line. The issue has been taken up with Accor directly and their reasons were pitiful. Our recent visits at the Mercure Grosvenor saw us given two sharply contrasting rooms- 224 on the first stay and 448 on the last stay a few days later. 224 was great. By contrast 448 was tiny and we nearly asked to be moved. A fan had to be asked for in room 448 and this only reduced what little space we had. Reception and Dining staff did a very good job- this included breakfast. Offering guests a reduction in the cost of breakfast for advance bookings , is excellent. Another plus is the guests laundry on floors 2 and 3. Having laundry facilities for guests was the main reason for staying with you.

Friendly and quick check-in/out. Neat and clean room. The only minor issue was the wait for the lifts (especially if you needed to go down to the car park).

While the staff were great, the room was basic. No aircon, the fan was noisy and there was a a silverfish in the bathroom.

We have a strange layout here at our hotel, being that we were built 100 years old we have a different structure compared to modern day hotels. Unfortunately, being an older hotel, we do have a centralised air-conditioning system at the hotel, due to which we do not have individual temperature controls in the room. I have been an Accor silver member for about 20 years and this is the worst hotel I have stayed in. It really needs an urgent update. The room was poky and dark. You couldn't look out the windows as they were blocked out. The only good thing about it is the location and service.

We booked to come down for WOMAD, so we knew it was a long weekend and very busy, our first room was in the Ibis, very small budget rooms, which is fine, but we were their for 3 nights. We have been Accor members for years, we went to reception to see if we could upgrade to a bigger room.... it was not a problem at all, the staff were fantastic to do this for us. Breakfast was great, close to trains and Center of city... perfect, we love Adelaide and Grosvenor Hotel.
