well located to the conference centre

Found the bed to be quite firm for my liking. So I asked staff for an overlay to be put on the bed for comfort. They were very helpful and eager to please with my request.

Few services, small room, overpriced

One elevator broken meaning long queues in front of the elevator every morning, breakfast disappointing (especially considering the price), room quite small. Positive side: the room was overall clean

Staff were friendly and helpful, however this hotel is in desperate need of a refurb. Although the room was clean, that was about the extent of the luxury. 2 slow lifts (one was broken - asked reception how long it had been out of order and was advised "3 or 4 months"). Aircon unable to be adjusted in room. Aircon was warm. Pedestal fans and heaters placed in room. The fan was needed to be run all night. Water pressure in the shower was non-existent. I've had much better showers in third world countries. Fridge rattled all night.

Dear Joel, Thank you very much for your feedback; I am glad to hear you found our staff friendly as they are truly an asset of our hotel. I am however sorry to read that you had troubles with the Aircon, water pressure and the rattling fridge for which please accept my sincere apologies. It is somewhat of an awkward situation as based on the age and condition of the hotel, it was initially earmarked to be closed early 2021 for a complete redevelopment but due to the impact COVID has had on the building industry, this has now been rescheduled for early 2024. A reflection as to why being the general condition of the room and the out of order guest lift that will remain out of order while we await for the motor generator to be completely re-built due to the fact it is 80 years old and such replacement parts have not been available for a very long time. Having to admit we have a variety of rooms where systems such as the air-conditioning have recently been overhauled and therefore more effective and less noisy; we will certainly make a note of this to ensure we allocate you a room that addresses the issues you have raised for future stays. Good location. The beds where the best, comfortable. We stayed in the middle of the hotel so was quiet except for a couple of Pigeons lol.

It was a nice, simple hotel and a spacious room. Would've liked the bathroom to be slightly bigger and the lifts to run a bit more efficiently and smoothly, but overall, a positive experience
