On the positive side the hotel was very well located and comfortable, however there were many issues: 1) On checkin we were advised that our account had been paid in full 2) We received the wrong room type 3) We were woken up twice by hotel recption staff asking who we were and if we were 2 different customers.... 4) the sink in the bath room did not drain 5) the shower did not work 6) We were asked at checkout to pay a balance that we had believed had been paid on reservation Please feel free to call me on 07…31 for furtther information

Having stayed in your Cardiff hotel I was so impressed but think Bristol one is a little tired on comparison. We stayed second floor and carpet on the landing was market and there was worn places the bathroom again looked tired and only had one of everything which was not a problem but there was two of us sharing so had to share soap. We had not planned to stay over in Bristol so was pleased there was room for us We ate in g the he restaurant the meal was ok but nothing special but the breakfast and staff were lovely Thank you

Nice building but poor service

Nearly everything we tried to do at the hotel was more complicated or convoluted than it needed to be and guests were left to try to guess how things worked as they were being inconvenienced. The worst example was when we were thrown out of the dining room in the middle of the three course meal we had booked and paid for in advance because the kitchen had apparently closed at 2130, which meant we only got to have the first two courses. We had no idea this was going to happen. After a four hour drive to the hotel followed by glacially slow and forgetful service (despite the fact there were only four covers that night yet two members of serving staff), this was very disappointing, and it ruined our evening. There were many other examples like this, and it left us under the impression that guests are somewhat in the way at this hotel. It clearly runs to suit the staff and senior management at Novotel, with guests as the collateral damage. We won’t be staying there again.

Well located but not informed about noisy building work!

The hotel was well located and the staff were all helpful. However I was extremely disappointed that we were not informed about the building works taking place next door. We were woken up at about 6:30-7am by huge bangs and very noisy drilling work next door which continued until check out. We were staying for a relaxing night away as we have two small children. Being woken up like this ruined the break and we were very angry we were not informed before booking our stay. We won’t be booking again!

When arrived booking had been cancelled without any notification. Luckily had rooms available and managed to pay the same rate as of the time off the original booking. Very noisy doors banging and waking early everyday off the trip.

Stay spoilt by regular noise during the night leading to virtually no sleep

Unfortunately the whole stay was overshadowed by an intermittent loud clunking noise occuring every 10 to 15 mins and lasting 30 to 40 seconds. Noise could still be heard with earplugs in. My wife and I weren't on top form for our son's graduation the next day. We were in room 420 which was near elevator (?source of noise but seemed to come from above.

I think this is the most impersonal hotel we've ever stayed at. Positives; nice room, comfortable bed, excellent sound proofing, decent breakfast, quiet location, close to train station for those needing to consider this. Negatives; Perfunctory check-in, staff simply not interested. Breakfast experience left us somewhat underwhelmed; We put our things on the table and went for coffee...came back to find someone had thrown our pills in the bin! Eventually, one girl said oh yes, she had seen them and they were retrieved, with the comment "is that already then"?! The coffee machine was not working as it needed to be emptied of coffee grounds...staff needed to be asked to do so. We were brought a pot of tea, which we don't drink by the girl who threw away our meds.... It turned out this was for a different table. She found it all quite hilarious. Would we stay again? No Definitely not worth the prices charged.

NKAE2008 TripAdvisor review

Great hotel tucked away 15 minutes walk from the city centre. The hotel is easily accessible by road and accommodates an underground car park with limited spaces. The service at check in and check out was pleasant, proffesional and efficient. Room service was speedy although the pre-authorisation hadn't filtered through to them. The bar was modern and ambient, offering a friendly service. Breakfast was what is expected of Novotel. On the whole we felt acknowledged by staff with warm smiles and attended to sufficiently. A pleasant and memorable stay at the hotel.

The beds were very comfortable. Rooms dated and didn't look like the pictures of the room on the website when we booked. It was pretty noisy - A lot of door slamming - Maybe could do with close shut doors to rooms. Expected better quality rooms from Novotel brand

I stayed for one night last week and had to leave in the middle of the night for a family emergency. As I was checking out I mentioned to the receptionist / night manager that I had booked breakfast for the next morning and if it was possible to get a refund then that would be appreciated. I had to rush off so didn't push it. By the time I got home, I'd received an updated invoice with the breakfast refunded. I was very grateful... it's the small touches that make the difference.

Welcoming and comfortable stay

Liverpulian TripAdvisor review

Stayed one night recently to see a show in Bristol. Staff were welcoming and helpful and my request for a high floor away from the lift area was fulfilled. However a 'girly weekend' arrived in the two rooms next and opposite ours and the noise was loud and distracting. I asked reception if we could move rooms and they did so with no problems. Breat customer service. Our breakfast the next morning was of good quality and tasty with a wide range on offer from continental to the full english.

The hotel is in a very good location for both the main shopping area and the marina / port side area and just a short walk from the railway station at Temple Meads. The staff were friendly and it’s only the other guests who sometimes ignore the COVID rules. The breakfast is exceptionally good and sets you up for a day of exploring.

We were going to a family wedding and booked Bristol Novotel as being convenient . Reception was well managed and we enjoyed our stay. Bedside lights would have been good to have. Parking was available which is always a bonus. Breakfast and service was good. Would definitely stay again.
