On the positive side the hotel was very well located and comfortable, however there were many issues: 1) On checkin we were advised that our account had been paid in full 2) We received the wrong room type 3) We were woken up twice by hotel recption staff asking who we were and if we were 2 different customers.... 4) the sink in the bath room did not drain 5) the shower did not work 6) We were asked at checkout to pay a balance that we had believed had been paid on reservation Please feel free to call me on 07…31 for furtther information

Having stayed in your Cardiff hotel I was so impressed but think Bristol one is a little tired on comparison. We stayed second floor and carpet on the landing was market and there was worn places the bathroom again looked tired and only had one of everything which was not a problem but there was two of us sharing so had to share soap. We had not planned to stay over in Bristol so was pleased there was room for us We ate in g the he restaurant the meal was ok but nothing special but the breakfast and staff were lovely Thank you

Nearly everything we tried to do at the hotel was more complicated or convoluted than it needed to be and guests were left to try to guess how things worked as they were being inconvenienced. The worst example was when we were thrown out of the dining room in the middle of the three course meal we had booked and paid for in advance because the kitchen had apparently closed at 2130, which meant we only got to have the first two courses. We had no idea this was going to happen. After a four hour drive to the hotel followed by glacially slow and forgetful service (despite the fact there were only four covers that night yet two members of serving staff), this was very disappointing, and it ruined our evening. There were many other examples like this, and it left us under the impression that guests are somewhat in the way at this hotel. It clearly runs to suit the staff and senior management at Novotel, with guests as the collateral damage. We won’t be staying there again.

The hotel was well located and the staff were all helpful. However I was extremely disappointed that we were not informed about the building works taking place next door. We were woken up at about 6:30-7am by huge bangs and very noisy drilling work next door which continued until check out. We were staying for a relaxing night away as we have two small children. Being woken up like this ruined the break and we were very angry we were not informed before booking our stay. We won’t be booking again!
