From the time we arrived till the time we left, everything the hotel could have done to make this a most enjoyable experience was done with a smile. The upgrade was more than we expected and for sure we will revisit this place as soon as we can .

We loved our stay at The Sofitel Queenstown - such an ideal location, 3 min walk to the wharf, and all the shops and dining are right on your doorstep. Wonderful, friendly staff who made us feel so welcome, especially our little 7 year old. Purchased the kids add on package, which included cookies, ice-cream and hot chocolate delivered to our room every night- our daughter felt like a little movie star with this special service, can highly recommend. We thought breakfast was lovely, definitely enough options there for everyone, whether you want a cooked or continental breakfast, love that barista coffee was included in the price (not the case in many hotels I have stayed in previously). Our room was large and comfortable, with the double spa bath and fully tiled bathroom definitely a highlight. We rated every aspect of our stay, in particular the staff, who were all just lovely. We will most definitely be back!

I recently stayed at Sofitel Queenstown - the hotel was of its usual high standard but our trip was cut short by a family bereivment = the staff were excellent, kind and immidiaetly assured me we would be refunded for the lost nights. They did this straight away and as a result I will be able to rebook and stay again at the hotel later in the year.

Overall very pleasant stay. We were a bit apprehensive about what to expect considering the hotel had only re-opened after lockdown a couple of days prior to our stay, however our room and the service we experienced were great. We booked suites with lounge access - the room was large, warm and comfortable, although we did ask for some special treatment (considering this was our 10th anniversary) but the hotel did not manage to put us on a high floor, or in a room with a advantageous view. Still nice, but friends of ours had a much better room, even though we had asked for the extra. I would have though the hotel might have made more effort in this regard but never seems to work out that way in reality. "We'll see what we can do" means 'you'll get what is available on the day'. I'm cool with that. The Suites are expensive, and I understand are larger than the normal rooms, and come with lounge access. I feel the extra charge for lounge access is quite hefty considering the frankly limited benefits that are available in the lounge. I am not sure if I am just unfamiliar with the term lounge here in NZ (I'm a kiwi), but having been in various lounges overseas the standard of the Sofitel Queenstown lounge is lacking. It is tiny - seating for approx 16 - 20 pax depending on arrangement. On our last night we were obliged to sit outside the lounge as it was full, and were constantly in-and-out to fetch drinks etc, and suffering through a number of pointed comments along the lines of "who are these people that keep coming into Our lounge" from the other guests who, quite rightly weren't to know that we had lounge access. Simple stuff, but really takes the shine off what is supposedly a lux add-on. Felt quite low-rent actually. Which brings me to the main issue with the lounge - service / amenity, or lack there-of. The staff in the hotel are brilliant, across the board, no question. Really appreciated all the interactions and they were all clipped, professional and agreeable. Magic actually. I'm guessing here, but what I think may letting the lounge down is that the Sofitel must instruct the staff to deliberately not service the lounge (to limit consumption... ? I hope not). It sounds terrible, and I am willing to believe that what we experienced are just teething problems getting re-started after covid, but the lounge 'service' was abysmal. Several occasions with no champagne, no crackers, no service utensils, repeatedly asking for refills, restock. No table service at all, although they will clear plates on occasion. I'm not posh, and I'm happy to serve myself, but our group (4 pax) had forked out a reasonable amount over and above the normal room rate to access the lounge, and I do not really want to then run around the bar trying to find a staff member to get a drink. It felt like it was deliberate. Also, there is no top shelf at all. You can buy it, obviously, but if you want a sit quietly in the lounge and grab nice gin and tonic before going out to dinner, you'll have to buy it. This did feel low rent. And, you'd need to get up and go to the bar and order it, because there is no table service. See where I am coming from - its not exactly what I would call lounging really. Can do (much) better. Breakfast and the cafe style service were brilliant on all the mornings of our stay. That barista was fantastic and remembered our order after the first day. Great work. Check in / out were professional and efficient. Greta personalities from the hosts involved. Appreciated. Trying to book was a nightmare with the Sofitel 'ALL' 'helpline' a disaster of epic proportions. Very limited info from an international (US based?) hotline that really couldn't answer our questions (specifically about the lounge) and the room types. Very difficult considering how close to the re-opening we were. Ended up booking on a platform. Not ideal, and maybe that's why we got the second rate / low floor room? Cant say we didn't try.

We arrived late Thursday afternoon. Appeared to be few other people staying in the hotel. Dinner in a temporary dining room was somewhat basic. Bedroom good, although I did have a few problems with the shower controls. Otherwise uneventful.

The room was very nice and comfortable. The staff was accommodating and courteous. This was my 1st visit here - the only constructive criticism I would have is the sink faucets - just think it’s a poor design and not user friendly.
