I stayed in the hotel between 6th and 20th July under managed isolation. I was apprehensive about how I might cope on my own for two weeks, but your staff were incredibly friendly, approachable, and helpful. The food was very nice; my clothes were beautifully laundered, and front desk and room service staff were always happy to help, even providing me with a sewing kit, and plasters for my blistered feet, when I needed them. I particularly wish to commend Harieta (sp?) on the front desk, who was just delightful, but every member of staff I came into contact with was just lovely. It felt like being part of a very big, supportive family! I will never forget the overwhelmingly positive experience of being quarantined at your hotel and hope to return one day as a voluntary guest!

To be honest my 2-week isolation would've been much more terrible if it weren't for the hospitality of each and every staff member that helped everyone during isolation. Very friendly and checked up on us frequently.

The Novotel was a fantastic hotel. On arrival the hotel was very busy due to an event. We made use of the bar which was nice & cozy. All the staff were very friendly during our stay.

The initial shock of learning we were to be located in Rotorua coloured our whole stay. A warning would have helped. We learned from others that their different experiences reflected the quality of their rooms, and more significantly, their age. It became clear that young people find such isolation stays much easier than old. Young people have all their days ahead of them. Older people do not. The young come with all their devices and social media networking and are in touch with others 24/7. Although we use emails we don't do social media so that's a disadvantage in such circumstances. We yearned for a radio that worked. Our laptop did help in providing morale and support with the uplifting orchestral sounds of Schumann and Schubert, but not to the extent we'd have liked. Undoubtedly the worst aspect of the hotel was the hermetically sealed air. Like breathing underwater. No openable windows. The temperature contol in our room was totally ineffective. Mostly it was unbearably hot. Nights were usually sweltering. At other times cold. The sound of the heating system in decibles was often like a vacuum cleaner. Second worse thing was the food. Not the food itself, which was generally okay, but the system. If only we'd know to bring our own plates and cutlery. When a cardboard container has an envelope opening and the opened sides don't fold down. and the sauce inside has coated the whole thing, then eating from this three dimensional envelope means sleeves touching the sauce-coated flaps. Having our own plates and cutlery would have made a huge difference. We had to eat on our laps. The same sauce or gravy that coated the cardboard flaps also leaked out the bottom onto our clothes. Only after a week did we discover we could obtain chairs that would enable us to eat on the bench. There were other things, less of concern, but I'll move on. Now for the positives. All the hotel staff were pleasant, obliging and friendly. All the security staff likewise. Army personnel were a delight. With the exception of one unhelpful person in Aviation security we could not say enough in favour of the staff. We think they did a wonderful job.

A shambles when I first got off the plane on the 2oth June 2020 Wasn’t impressed that had to travel to Rotorua with one stop to go to the bathroom and only water no food. Food hot chips and salad at midnight not satisfying. Not very organised. Felt like I was not a New Zealander but almost a bad person.

It was an unfortunate time for the industry but the staff were still great - friendly and helpful and in good spirits. Nice location, and enjoyed the move to the Novotel at the same price.

Everything is goes very well, even we check in quite late around 9:30 pm. The guys who run night shift serve us very nice, we are very happy. Only small thing on the next day, we requested late check out (1:00 pm), but at 11:00 am the reception call to remain us time to check out.

We visited in the heat of the covid 19 outbreak so that I believe made a big difference. When we arrived hotel staff were cleaning everything. Which ment hallways had heaps of linnen and pillows and empty trash cans every where. This is good and bad to see. Good to know everyone is cleaning and out linnen we're spotless but not so nice to dodge while carrying your baggage. The room was good nice view and everything we needed. Only problem was the TV remote didn't work. Over all not to bad.
