« Unusually disorganised »

We have staed at Sofitel for most of our London transits, and have had excellent service (reflected in tripadvisor submissions) every time. This trip, after a transatlantic flight, we had requested our usual room with an outside view. We checked in to be told that the room had been allocated to a conference block booking, and the substituted room had been given to someone with the same surname as mine! When this was confirmed, (I went with the staff to the room and it was occupied) another room was allocated, which was inward facing. Finally an exterior room was found, and this was good. We did however waste an hour after a long flight on this, and had to wander around a number of rooms which we could have done without. We were disappointed at this charade, and from previous excellent experiences, found this a significant problem. We are using the Sofitel again in April and May, and trust that this is a glitch and not a shape of things to come Crawford G.

« Another great stay »

As ever from arriving to leaving the service was fantastic. We flew in from Phoenix and we’re very tired but check in was quick and efficient. The room was lovely and the evening meal as brilliant as always in the Vivek. We also had breakfast. Our wait staff was lovely and nothing was too much trouble even though I think you need more staff on at breakfast. The staff never stopped. The chef was great cheerful and highly efficient getting out omelettes etc. This is a really great hotel. Thanks for another great stay.

« convenient since at the main terminal. Service is abominal! »

I had a friend who was going to visit but there was no receptionist and he could not make it. He kept on trying to ring. The whole night was ruined. I tried room service at night and had to try multiple times to get someone pick up calls.

We arrived late and reception was not very helpful They gave us our room and pointed to the elevator in the far distance We couldn't find it, maybe we were tired it was 12:00 pm Finally a waiter showed us but the receptionist never told us that we needed to scan our room card to move the elevator We stood there exhausted for 5 mins No one was around We looked Finally the same waiter passed by and told us abt the room card scanning!! We got up to the room and my son was hungry so we ordered room service It took over 40 mins to arrive and the food was under cooked and cold Thank god it was pasta The room service told us that there was only 1 delivery person for the whole hotel that evening Really , isnt Sofitel a 5 start hotel !!! I have to say , i stay in many 5 star hotels all over europe and the states and i choose Sofitel for this reason Im not so sure I will again When i chked out I asked for a reciept and the receptionist said that since i booked thru expedia I wasnt entitled to one I explained i booked thru British Airways but she insisted and insisted I was so tired i didnt have the strength to discuss it so i left for my next flight I honestly was so sorry abt the whole stay at ur hotel

« Dreadful - first bad experience of Sofitel »

1) At check in, tried to charge me totally wrong pricing. 2) Then issued me with a key card, got to room, there was someone else already in the room. I was given a duplicate key card. This was very unnerving esp. for a woman travelling alone. 3) Was then reallocated another room. Scant apology, little expression of concern, no gesture of goodwill. 4) Attempted to order room service. No ability to get through to room service from 8pm for over 1.5 hours. Eventually got food at 10.20 pm. 5) No amenities in room in terms of eg. a biscuit?? Even much more basic hotels have complimentary biscuits or at least a mini-bar from which one can buy something. 6) Ended up feeling so unsafe in hotel due to duplicate key experience, that I barely slept. 7) On check out, the receptionist was much more apologetic and tried to offer me a free coffee, but my taxi had already arrived. Dreadful experience. Felt unsafe and now re-evaluating my view of Sofitel.

Overall fine, except for needing to complain on our arrival date of the 3rd February to the night duty manager over a number of issues which were resolved. On the 9th of February we also had to complain, in the bar area were a number of people with their feet on the chairs. I spoke to one person who was sitting next to me, and she took her feet off the chair. I then spoke to the Bar Manager, and he then said something astounding. He said people in the bar can do what they like as they are paying, including putting feet on the chairs. I immediately complained to the duty manager who came and said this was not acceptable. I will be complaining to the General Manager by email, as I find it totally unacceptable for people to put their feet including shoes on the chairs
