Hotel Mercure Paris Gare de l'Est Magenta 3 estrelas

The Mercure Paris Gare de l’Est Hotel is within easy walking distance from Gare du Nord Train Station and Gare de l’Est Train Station. We stayed in a family privilege room that included a complementary minibar and breakfast. We arrived early in the morning after a Eurostar from London, obviously it was too early to check in but the friendly receptionist stored our cases for us until we came back later in the day. Our room was clean and consisted of a king bed and sofabed that was made up ready. Even though we were overlooking the street there was no discernible noise at night. We made use of the complementary minibar, it was only soft drinks and water but it was very welcome. Breakfast was served in the basement, there was not an extensive selection but it was more than adequate. The area has an abundance of restaurants as well as a McDonalds just a few steps away. In summary I would highly recommend staying at this hotel.

I don't want to give any star for the rude manner of this staff. The hotel's lift isn't working from the ground floor to the 1st fl. And a woman at the reception when I check-in was so kind to help us for carrying our luggage to the 1st floor but when we would to check-out a staff who is a young lady she refused us to help for carrying our luggage to ground fl. I have to beg her for help and we’re not prepared to go to the hotel without an elevator like this. >>> Yes, she helped us, but she refused at first and we have to beg her twice the time for helping, she showed a very displeased look on her face. It made us feel terrible having to ask her for help as we had to rush to the airport because we had reserved a taxi. So, should we be shown this kind of service from the staff that should? Do you have more service mind? Please note that this hotel is strongly not recommended to stay with because the elevator is out of order from ground fl. to 1st fl. and staff does not have the service in mind.

Front of house staff were friendly & helpful. Housekeeping was sloppy, extra pillow cases left in our room after changing the linen. Used bath towels removed but not replaced. Toilet seat & toilet paper holder needed repair. Lift broke 5 times during our 7 night stay, the last time was told would take days to replace a part.

The Mercure Paris Gare de l'est Magenta was a relatively present surprise at the end of our 3-weeks summer vacation. It's relatively low price for a property in this area may make people think that this is a deal too good to be true... but it isn't. Pricing could be that the property itself is slightly off a main street (bd de Magenta) on a small street without much flashy signage... So yes, it is a little bit hidden. Check-in was easy and I was provided will all amenities that comes with my ALL membership. I was assigned a Privilege Room, which comes with upgraded toiletries and a fridge stacked with juice, soda and water (all complimentary). I found the room size to be quite adequate by Paris standards, and especially how affordable this place is. Air conditioning was working perfectly. The washroom/bathroom was also well designed with sufficient space. No issues with water temperature or pressure and the toilettries were of decent quality. The bed was a little bit on the hard side, but this may have been due to a request to remove anything in the room containing feathers. Comfortable pillows. As with many hotels in Paris, this location has a bit of a boutique feel,,, small hallway corridors, small # of rooms, tiny elevators... but modern upgrades in the common areas, including the breakfast area that have a more contemporary look and feel.... So yes, it is a little bit of a gem. The breakfast on site was a mix of a hot "american" breakfast (eggs, bacon...) and more traditional French (baguette, pastries). The kitchen has a bit of a hard time keeping up on the hot food - but overall, quality was there and the breakfast experience was good. Location wise, it is near two of the main train station in towns, and there are plenty of food options nearby, including a famous American quick service outlet that may feel like just the right thing after having thoroughly enjoyed high quality multi-course dinners for an extended period of time. The only minor drawback during our stay, which was outside of the hotel's control, was construction noise early in the morning. Other than that, this is actually a very quiet property. The hotel is in the ideal location for visiting Paris. It’s a 3 minute walk from the nearest Metro Station (Gare De l’est). Close to restaurants and bars. The staff were friendly and helpful, letting us check into 2 out of the 3 rooms we have booked early. The rooms were small, the bathroom small but we had a good deal for all 3 rooms with breakfast included so can’t moan too much about the size. The one thing I will say though and we found this a problem with all our rooms - the shower door did not fit/close properly so when you were in the shower it would pour all over the ballroom floor! Apart from this, excellent stay and would return without a doubt.
