Total disaster: 1. Check-in - Tried to check in at 5pm and was told by sorry there are no rooms available and there is nothing that can be done at the moment. Check-in staff was rude and when I complained about there being no rooms available they were totally dismissive and I was told to complain to the manager. After a tiring 4 hour journey this attitude is totally unacceptable. Eventually got at room. 2. Room: Room actually was ok although but not totally clean in the bathroom. However, we discovered the safe was not working just before going out for dinner. A safe is essential for us as we had our passports, cash and about $4000 worth of watches, and computers with us. Rang reception and was told that they would send someone but could not tell me when because maintenance were very busy and also they were very busy in reception. After waiting 20 minutes rang up again and was told the same thing. Several attempts later and after 40 minutes someone from maintenance arrived and had to change the safe. This whole episode delayed us for over an hour and meant we had to rebook out dinner reservation. It seems there was only one macitence person on duty for a hotel with over 400 rooms. Bar: There is no manned bar! We wanted a glass of wine but had to go to the restaurant and ask someone there if we could have some wine. After 20 minutes of waiting 2 glasses were eventually given to us and we had to drink it at a table by the entrance to the restaurant. Breakfast: decided not to have at the hotel as it looked very busy, disorganised and would have only added to our stress levels. Overall: Could have been such a nice stay but hotel was busy, noisy and clearly had seen better days. Additionally our stay was spoilt by overstretched staff who were on the most part rude and dismissive and lacked even the most basic customer service ethos. The management need to get a grip and sort this out.

Good location, but need to be renovated.

When I arrive at the hotel, check-in was a little slow, but the receptionist was very helpful giving some tips of restaurants around, for a 4 star hotel the room miss a lot of stuff like a big and smart tv, coffee machine and a electric kettle. Compared to Novotel Porto Atlãntico - Rio de Janeiro this one is way behind in quality.

Inefficient front desk service , daily rate charged twice

My Partner arrived to the hotel before myself and she paid the daily rate (in cash). When I arrived 30 minutes later, I was asled to pay the daily rate (with my credit card). After long line to be attended for check out , I've mentioned about the double charge, and the person who attended requested my bank account data and told me she would solve it in that same day and contacted me. 24 hours have passed, and no solution or feedback. I want my money back (daily rate charged twice)
