Great staff, bad room quality

Our couple travels a lot, and we have chosen Accor brand hotels. Sadly we booked many times with another platform such as Booking.com so you cannot see the record, but we prefer Accor hotels to other brands. But this is the first time we were very disappointed with ibis and Accor. The staff was very welcoming, and I had some questions before check in so i called the front desk. I was amazed by the front desk staff when i arrived to the hotel, since she remembers and recorded my question and she prepared the solution for it when we checked-in. The thing is, when we entered into the room, the cigarette smell was very strong. And it was definitely from carpets and walls, like so many guests were smoking in this room and it has stayed and stained the wall and carpet. And whatever you do for cleaning, this kind of thing doesn't go away easily as I know. We called the front and asked room change. The staff was very kind and she changed it immediately, but new room that she offers was same, it has strong smell of cigarettes smoke again........ After this, we started feeling very uncomfortable since we didn't want to insist for changing rooms again and again. and It seems like it might be same every room in this hotel, even though all rooms are non-smoking rooms. So we took the room and she gave us air purifier for the room. It seems like they have gotten a lot of complaints about room odor, since she offers this solution. After check out, all my clothes and bags has same odor as the room. I really think it's time that Ibis ambassador Myeongdong needs to remodel all the rooms and changes all the carpets and wallpapers. If it was not ibis brand we wouldn't stay here with this kind of odor.

Had an enjoyable stay at the hotel. Staffs at the counter were helpful throughout the stay. Best location anyone could wish for. Reasonable rates and room is to satisfaction. Will stay here in my next upcoming trip either in Nov or Jan 2023.

Location is good. 2nd stay within 2 months. Housekeeping was not up to expectations during 2nd stay. Why cant the property prepare a Make Up Room door?

Check in was swift and the staff was efficient. The guest room was a bit too dark due to its small windows compared to the previous room we’ve stayed in the past. The Beddings were comfy and the double bed was good sized. The only problem was the internet. Never had such slow internet connection in Seoul.
