We had a lovely room and the reception staff were brilliant. We, for some reason, were unable to book a double room just a twin room online, when we arrived we were asked if we actually would prefer a double so that's what we got.

Stayed 5 nights and found rooms to be comfortable, small hotel but with necessary amenities. Generally quiet, which suited us.

The room was tired and faults I have indicated on the next page. The faults were not reported as they were major issues which would have already been flagged up in such a hotel The breakfast was good and plentiful

Excellent. Good reception and restaurant staff. Only downside, could not open balcony door in room 110. I am not 6 years old. I do need a security lock to remind me not to throw myself out of the window.

The room and bathroom were a great size and both spotlessly clean. I don't normally sleep well in hotels but I had a really good night's sleep. The breakfast buffet had everything you would want for breakfast and I was also lucky enough to arrive on a day where there was prosecco and canapes offered at check in. Great hospitality!

Hi Stephan, I have been charged for a room at the Ibis city centre hotel that I did not book and require a refund for. I called to book a hotel room at the Mercure Brigstow Hotel at 9.56 on 3/3. I was asked to create an account and provided my card details for the booking which took almost 30mins. Shortly after this I checked my email and have received a confirmation for the Ibis City Centre under booking reference JFFDDFKX. This is not the hotel I wanted to book at all and called back, where I have been told me they would cancel the incorrect booking JFFDDFKX and would rebook at the Correct hotel Mercure Brigstow Hotel. This took another 30mins The second correct booking was made under booking reference JFFLDBPQ which was paid for on 7th March at the Mercure Hotel when we arrived. On the 9th of March I have been Charged £125.05 by the Ibis city centre hotel, a hotel that I did not want to book in the first place and was told was cancelled. I have tried to talk to the Mercure Brigstow Hotel who have said they cannot refund as they haven’t taken the money and to contact the ibis, which i can understand, what i cant understand is not being hung up on 2 times with no real explanation of what has happened or what will be done to rectify the unwarranted charge. I was pretty much told it was my problem, they couldnt give a number or email address for someone at the Ibis central hotel or central reservations who according to one of your employees "Must of made the mistake" no one from your hotel made any real effort to explain how this has happened and also tried to blame me for making a mistake which if you listened back to the calls i have made is not the case. I really want someone to take ownership of this issue and arrange my refund. Please can you refund the money for the booking which you or a member of your organisation has incorrectly booked and advise on where this has gone so terrible wrong? I have been using the Accor hotels for years and feel like I have had money stolen from with no regard and when trying to find out what’s going on I have been left disgruntled by poor handling of the issue. Please advise when I will receive the refund for the incorrect charging to my card. Best wishes Ben

The Ibis in the City Centre is not part of our management company, so we would not be able to deal with the refund for a different hotel and company. I am sorry you have had a poor experience whilst trying to book a room through central reservation, for the Mercure Brigstow, which clearly has been handled incorrectly. Booked a twin room overlooking river back in mid Feb. Checked before setting off that this was correct. Arrived to find no twin available overlooking the river and because my husband has a heart condition and sleeps upright we had to agree to a twin room overlooking a building site at the back for the first of our three night stay. We did not get a reduced rate for this room. The following night at about 2 am there was a worrying fight and chase in the corridor on floor 3 between a couple. Not your fault I know. No doubt the reception staff sorted it out!

This has always been one of my favourite hotels to stay in, lovely rooms, good facilities, helpful staff, good location. the only disappointment on this occasion was that there was a couple of issues with my paper delivery in the morning. ie wrong paper delivered on Wednesday and no paper delivered on the Saturday. Both times this was rectified by the staff, but I would certainly be asking questions of the supplier, as they seem to be quite unreliable.

The lifs didn't work was the only problem, apart from that hotel reception staff were very polite,kind and definitely deserve recognition of how they invited people in! Bar staff not so much, but not a problem, I've stayed in lots of hotels in Bristol and this one by far wasn't the worst. Thanks Simon.

Room on 6th floor, lifts still broken months after problem occurred. Paid for an upgraded room but in reality room is shabby with dirty walls and fixtures and look very much like a regular room. Needs a good overhaul throughout the whole hotel

Stayed for three nights, asked for an extension lead as there are no plug sockets by the bed, never arrived despite asking for one twice. Safe was faulty in the room, and was never repaired. Had to ask for someone to open it every morning and waited over half an hour each day. receptionist told us maintenance would be straight up to the room, but after waiting half an hour on the third day, the receptionist came up to the room, and said Maintenance were not even in yet (10.30am) She couldn’t open it with the master key and ended up doing it myself. Breakfast was good, but service poor. Hotel very tired, dated and rug in the room thread bear.

It was unfortunate that the lift was broken when we arrived. Not helped by having been shopping all day and having walked 5 miles around the city. The lowest floor we were offered was floor 5. We’d treated ourselves to an upgrade and booked a prestige room. The toilet was dirty and had a poo in it with toilet paper on the top. To be fair, your employees were excellent and offered a room change and a complimentary breakfast as well as a full investigation into what happened but regrettably both issues affected my visit and the subsequent appraisal I’ve given
