« Room 27 should never be let. The noise from the boiler room next door was terrible. The room was too hot ( the pipes in floor) and unbearable. »

Disgraceful that you consider this room suitable. I am a regular customer but cannot believe you feel this room is useable. I complained twice to the night manager

« Avoid at all costs »

Room was really nice, bed was not a double but two singles zipped together which you could feel. Beds where really uncomfortable and woke up several times due pain. Pool was freezing cold, they ask you to turn up early for treatment, which I did but I was still left sat there 10 minutes after my treatment time. Me and my partner was the first people there but yet the five couples who turned up after us all went before us!! Not happy. Food was ok, service was a joke. We waited 1 hours and 40 minutes for our main course. People had eaten all three courses before I got my starter. We came down at 8pm for our reservation and did not finish until 11:30pm. This was not by choice !

« Really enjoyed our stay »

Me and my partner really enjoyed our stay it was worth every penny for what we got, The only downfall I would say is that the drinks are expensive! But apart from that it was nice, we also got upgraded to a suite after asking to change rooms as I wanted a bath. The room we originally had was really nice but outside in the hallway was like a building site and dated so glad we got changed to a nicer room.

« Amazing stay! »

It was a wonderful weekend which I throughly enjoyed. We got room service and despite it being quite expensive, I can’t fault the food or customer service one bit. It was fantastic. The food was outstanding and the rooms are clean and very spacious. Overall, I would 100% recommend staying here, we’ve been twice now and we are already planning our second stay here.

« Nice location - great stay. Just a couple of small factors stopped it from being a 10. »

Liked the hotel, the accommodation and the courtyard. Food, restaurant an bar were nice too. Generally much enjoyed. Here are the negatives. Voicemail left from a courtesy call a week prior to stay. Addressed by my first name on message (inappropriate). When I returned the call, the receptionist I spoke to did not speak very good English, and overquoted for the Valentine's event (£85 instead of £65 per couple). Mix-up over treatment availability in Spa. I had pre-booked, they thought my slot was not available and just as I was about to go to the pool they decided the slot was available. Also official first name used in spa, as opposed to preferred name. Please keep it formal until the customer says first names are OK. A few things were mis-charged on the bill. The discount on the Camden Ale was forgotten for two of the four drinks I had ordered. However this was nearly compensated for by only charging the tray fee for one person for breakfast room service. At the restaurant, condiments not offered with food, and had to ask for knife for cheese and biscuits dessert. One of the waitresses was also inappropriately dressed (very short skirt).

« Fantastic stay »

My husband and myself had a lovely stay at this hotel. Lots of free parking. Nice friendly staff. Food was of good quality and a comfortable quiet room. Used the swimming pool and spa which we enjoyed and there is a bus stop very close which we used to go shopping in Blackburn. Would stay again and recommend.

« Valentine Stay »

Nice stay at the Dunkenhalgh, my wife and I headed back there as we got married there in 2006 and were keen to come back, especially as Russell Shaun was singing that night (he sang at our wedding). The staff were lovely and the food was good. My only complaints are the fact that we upgraded to room 1, the Bridal Suite and that room is very tired. The heating did not work in the room and so two plug in convection heaters were needed to heat up the room. Also, we booked the valentines package and those people who did not upgrade had rose petals and towels folded into swans in their room. We paid extra to upgrade and were forgotten about, more of a downgrade really!!

« Unusually poor stay »

I stayed in room 46 and was woken with water hitting me on the head that was leaking through the ceiling at about 4am. I put towels on the bed to catch the water and slept on the far side of the bed as I could not be bothered changing rooms at that time of the night/morning. I reported this to reception upon my exit but have had no contact since.

« Business »

Room was dingy, and very small. Pleased I was only there for 1 night. As a solo female guest, I felt uncomfortable walking to/from the room across a dimly lit courtyard and up steps, again poorly lit. Food and restaurant service was good though.

« nice setting »

good spacious room, comfortable bed, charming staff. the bar and dining room are slightly lacking in charm but the staff an food were both good. the cutlery was unusual as it felt cheap but may not have been. getting to my room (5) could have been easier if the signage had been better. i had some water issues in the bathroom in the morning.

« Poorly organised and rushed »

Firstly to start with the food was lovely. Itniery provided arrive at 7 for 7.30 service music and bar until 1am. Arrived at 7 to be told food would be served at 8. The room was beautifully decorated and full of empty tables so not quite sure why every one who had come to enjoy had been shoved in the back corner of the room so the singer could sing to empty tables! Singer finished at just after 9 ish and the staff then started to pack the tables and decorations up around us we felt pushed out . Good was lovely but a disappointing evening.

« very relaxing stay »

Lovely food, attentive staff, comfortable bed. The decor is dated but pleased to see they are refurbishing some rooms, Would definitely stay again.

« Beautiful room »

We have stayed 2 nights in the newly refurbished room, very clean. The team has prepared a welcome chocolates for us which was really nice. Breakfast is really old fashioned typical English breakfast in regards to the choice, I would like to see not more of a healthy items such as smoothies, avocados, hummus or freshly squeezed juices. It’s probably a personal preference. I loved the gym and spa facilities, especially in the storm weather it’s nice to relax in swimming pool and sauna. The team was friendly. We will definitely return and recommend.

« Lovely hotel »

Great experience, spa was lovely. Only marked 9 out of ten because we requested more toilet paper and we did not receive this. Thank goodness for tissues!

« Value for money »

Good value for money and good facilities. Good breakfast. Our room and the part of the hotel we stayed in was run down and is in desperate need of a revamp. Expensive to dine at the hotel so we chose to eat out.
