I have stayed at this hotel on a number of occasions for both leisure and business purposes. There has been a recent refurbishment of communal areas. Extremely comfortable. Courteous and helpful staff. Great amenities with an excellent leisure centre. Highly recommended.

« A pleasant over-night stay for a special birthday »

We arrived at lunchtime on Saturday and found that our room was already ready for us. We enjoyed a nice lunch in the bar, then headed to the pool for a swim, followed by a one hour massage for my wife. Our evening meal was excellent (if slightly small portions). Our room was a generous size, well appointed and comfortable. Breakfast was all that we would expect with plenty of variety and good quality. Service from all staff was excellent.

Hello April:I feel impelled to communicate our response to staying with you over Christmas,especially as some feedback that may come your way maybe unfairly levelled in the wrong direction. Facilities and ambiance were very welcoming and comfortable. Almost all the staff members; who drew the 'short straw 'of working over Christmas where very professional & welcoming; especially in dealing with the problems that arose. However in booking such an experience for a festive celebration in a venue that we were informed would make Christmas feel extra special; sadly we were disappointed.Christmas Eve started well; following the enjoyment of the Carol singers we had a relatively ok nice meal; nothing special and we were surprised to see starters & desserts that we had been requested to pre order for Christmas Day replicated in the choices; including a roast turkey option. Following dinner & in the expectation of playing the usual Christmas activities we decamped to locate appropriate seating: Sadly the games room became off limits as the children present began to explore the contents of the boxes. Maybe not wise to display everything in one place.A better idea would have been to divide the room into an adult area & a family area. We could not find a place for us all to sit & utilise the games that we luckily supplied ourselves; until much later in the evening. Other people experienced a similar problem & the atmosphere crashed as folks gave up & went to their rooms. The barman was helpful however he was keen to close the bar at 12 ( Christmas evening the same was muted before 10.30). My daughter asked for a hot chocolate and was told the machine had been turned off. They said they couldn't heat the milk, when asked if they could use the microwave they said no. In a 4 star hotel I would expect to be able to have a drink in the bar as and when required. Christmas morning dawned and our expectations were high:Everything in the restaurant pointed to a special experience.The pallet cleanser was well presented & lovely.All was well until the main meal of preordered turkey arrived.The amount of meat was disproportionate to the small amount of vegetables,potatoes too firm,gravy / jus; so thick the it would have supported a spoon upright and to add insult it was only Luke warm. We requested new hot gravy which was hot but even thicker. Most of us discarded our meal. The restaurant staff quickly responded in an effort to appease the situation & the manager sanctioned our drinks being free. I guess that something filtered back to the kitchen; as those of us that chose the cheeseboard were presented with a board that could have fed three people.we all felt uncomfortable at leaving so much. The promised visit from Father Christmas & accompanying gift never materialise: we later discovered that a beardless Santa was seen exiting the car park before most of the dinners were in progress. In expectation of a light buffet in the evening we were further dismayed to see that a full hot range of food was on offer(including fish fingers & chips) & a very selective cold buffet. Not ideal for eating post 8pm; although the desserts were lovely and we soon learned why: That others who booked meals were even less fortunate than ourselves; as they did not receive their Christmas meal.Not serving turkey on Christmas Eve may have alleviated the atmosphere & disappointment. In contrast the Boxing Day meal although some options ran out: As people avoided repeat desserts, the meal was very much better, presented beautifully, hot and balanced. We even requested our thanks be extended to those responsible. On such an occasion & with significant expense we felt that the experience detailed did not meet expectation.

Hotel stay was very good. However Casino Gala reception was very disappointing. Arrival drink not glass of Prosecco as expected but alternative that didn’t taste very pleasant, I did notice several other guests left their drinks. Regarding canapés this consisted of Sauté chicken skewers or cheese tartlet, in my option not great choices for canapés.

« Quiet and comfortable stay. »

Initial reception staff were helpful and friendly. Staff in restaurant were not overly attentive, despite there not being many people in there. Hotel looks lovely and the the real fire in reception lounge is a nice touch. New Year party was held in a separate building so meant we still got a good nights sleep. Bedroom refurbishment was beautiful and done to a high standard but the bathroom was a bit dated. Bedroom and bathroom floor could have done with being a bit cleaner.

« lovely comfortable gentle stay »

Brandon Hall Hotel is a rural oasis in our busy west midland's region. Lovely grounds, not another home in sight, attentive friendly staff, cosy and spacious bedroom with really perfect bed and bedclothes. Good evening meal with the world's best ice-cream and outstanding breakfast. Staff told me that Brandon Hall puts a lot of effort into cooking from fresh and organising its meal sessions so that staff have the time to do every visitor a perfectly cooked meal. We enjoyed our stay at the Brandon Hall Hotel. Our only disappointment was the coolness of our room when we arrived. It took a long time for the heating to bring it up to temperature. Once reached it was comfortable.

« A pleasant stay - the hotel needs a little investment »

Great leisure facilities. Hotel room starting to look tired Dinner had a shorter/simpler menu than that advertised on the website. There was a desire to rush you out of the dining room presumably so the staff could go home. No offer of coffee or after dinner drinks. Bill was brought without asking at about 10:15pm.

« Ok but ! »

We had the Christmas package the room was excellent The evening meal menu on Christmas Eve was disappointing as 50% was the same food offered next day. Breakfast was excellent Christmas lunch and atmosphere was disappointing not worth the money paid. Christmas evening buffet was strange due to us having a cooked meal of halibut french fries and potatoes and vegetables with a good selection of deserts. Veg when advertised as alight buffet

« A wonderful relaxing New Year break. »

This was our 3rd visit the Mercure Brandon Hall Hotel, and once again we had a wonderful time. The staff were friendly, courteous and professional right from booking process, to checking in, and throughout our stay. The newly refurbished rooms are air conditioned, spacious and clean, our room had a large TV; complete with all the available Freeview channels, the bathroom housed a large wet room. The Hotel was set in lovely surroundings, open grassed areas and woodland, perfect for walking off the superb meals, we decided to decline the use of the Spar facilities and headed to the lounge and bar areas complete with open log fires burning, where we were met with the usual friendly greeting and nothing was too much trouble for the excellent staff. We only had one minor issue with the room during our stay; but Shelly rectified this immediately, we certainly recommend the hotel and we will be booking again for the 2020 New Year celebrations. Please pass on our gratitude to all the staff; for making our stay a truly pleasurable one.

Lovely hotel, clean rooms & friendly staff. Nice pool & spa. Great evening meal in the restaurant & New Year’s Eve party. The only negative being the drinks in the bar- Guinness had to be returned a few times over a couple of days & no Baylies at all for the 3 days we were there.

I shall work with our beverage dispensing company to improve our Guinness serving, and apologize for the short failings with this, and I am disappointed that it wasn’t mentioned to myself with regards to the lack of baileys, as I would have been able to resolve this with the hour.
