I only say Mercure Hotel can provide comfortable room for guest to stay. However, my experience here may be different as I have requested to transfer from another hotel to Mercure Hotel due to the period of lockdown in UK. Though the Mercure Hotel can provide my family to have a comfortable place to stay, I got an unhappy experience due to the fact that I have kept in dark for the arrangement of transferring of hotel from occupying 3 bedrooms to Two separate rooms as my family members are all adult and there is no 3 bedroom in Mercure Hotel so it causes me to spend an extra expenses on transferring of Hotel. Anyway, Mercure Hotel is a comfortable hotel, all my family members have a remarkable experience here.

Two nights 23 and 24 December as visiting family on Christmas Day. I was upgraded on arrival and had a lovely room with a terrific view of the square decorated with lights. It felt a little like being in the film THe Shining as apart from reception personnel, I saw no other guests until I was checking out. The corridors were empty. I was disappointed that the pool was closed.

The key difference between is a nice stay and a an amazing stay is down to staff. Considering the pandemic and all the measures required, the staff at this hotel were awesome. There was one reception staff member, she was from the Manchester area (name not known) but her natural friendliness, going out of the way to help and nothing too much trouble to help made an unpleasant work trip a million times better. I will not be looking elsewhere to stay, it will be themercure every time. Thanks to all the staff!

Good staff, tired room

Staff pleasant & helpful, bed comfortable, room well laid out, but... 2 room lights not working, sink almost completely blocked, damaged wiring to towel rail, loose bathroom door handle, air conditioning doesn't really get cool enough and can't open a window, very small amount of tea/coffee provided for 2 day stay, only one lift working. Parking in nearby Q-Park or NCP is expensive ~£15 per night even with 25% discount. It wasn't that bad, but the room could have done with a bit of TLC which would have made it a lot better.

Arriving from the US for medical purposes while England was still under national lockdown, Ali cheerfully greeted me for check-in! Providing me with personal and professional attention, he advised me of the amenities and options available during the lockdown, directions to navigate through the city, and helped me with my own personally challenged technical issues. My medical mission required a substantial amount of ice, which Ali graciously supplied. When it was apparent that my medical mission was delayed, Victoria recognized the importance and granted my request for a lengthy extended stay in my room without hesitation. Much appreciated! When I inquired about taxi service that would accept credit cards, she provided me with options and offered to call and bill to the hotel if desired. When Sandeep came on duty, he parallelled the extraordinary hospitality of staff members! With doors locked, he validated my guest status to secure safety, expeditiously cared for room requests and additional supplies. He researched train schedules and printed options for me. Once it was determined that I would be checking out, Sandeep secured a taxi providing them with destination details. Enabling me to minimize complexities of payment transaction, Sandeep authorized credit card payment through the hotel. Although I had little contact with Lisa, she, too, was pleasantly responsive to my inquiries. The tireless energy of the staff, multitasking, running to open the exterior door every time a guest exited or entered, providing room service, pampering and caring for each guest's simple and unique requests ... the endless list all cared for by each staff member, vivaciously, jovially and with appreciation for me just being a guest! I want to thank the staff, and express my sincerest appreciation and gratitude for their extraordinary hospitality, and for minimizing the mental and physical fatigue of my medical mission. Blessings to all!

I was booked to stay at the Sheffield Novotel. Due to Covid 19 this hotel was closed. I was advised that their sister hotel ( Mecure Sheffield) was still taking bookings. Instead of just transferring my booking direct to the Mecure I had to spend then next 1 hour rearranging my booking. This should have been done automatically. The room was nice and comfortable. There was very little food on offer at the hotel due to covid 19. I had to order food in for diner. I had ordered breakfast from the hotel, it arrived on time but was not what I ordered, it was all prepackaged and not worth the £10 I was charged.

I had reason to stay here in late Oct early Nov, and the experience was very positive. The staff were extremely friendly, the rooms were well presented, the location is 2nd to none. Sheffiled was in Tier 3 during my stay, and this was very evident with lots of sanitizer stations throughout the hotel. The staff could not be more friendly. Breakfast selection was a little disappointing, but with Covod-19, this is a challenge. I will be back...

Disappointed to find Chef was off and only option for room service was a choice of one of four main courses - I did receive complimentary water and Judes ice cream though. I am staying with you again very soon and will have to look for alternative dining arrangements. I read in your guest letter slippers and bathrobes had been discontinued - this is not a covid measure, this is a cost saving exercise with your laundry bill. Staff were thorough and friendly, hotel was clean.

We have been offering a larger menu as this week has gone on, albeit reduced from a pre-covid menu, based on deliveries of good and staff training being completed. You will have a larger selection of food items upon your return visit. I hope you enjoyed the ice cream. In relation to bathrobes and slippers these were removed to provide a COVID safe environment, unlike towels and bed linen, guests have questioned if not used are they replaced between guests. However I would be delighted to provide bathrobes and slippers in your bedroom moving forward. Please do confirm your arrival date and I will ensure this is actioned. Felt very clean and safe. Hotel staff were friendly. The room was ok although little details overlooked for example there was still a sticky label on the bathroom sink and the toilet continuously had water running through it. Breakfast hot choice was poor and full English was very small and not great quality. Certainly not worth the money and we ended up having breakfast elsewhere the second morning. It was great to be able to book a late checkout of 1800hrs.

Staff were friendly but rooms was cold , light flashing at night on the air conditioning so I was told I have to put something over it , then the lights tripped had no lighting all night ? !! Work is in the morning to find the problem still is there , I had to get changed and then move to a different room to have a shower and get ready.
