87 bedrooms including superior twins, doubles and privilege rooms overlooking the ornamental lake and beautiful landscaped grounds. Bedrooms are divided into Main House 29, School Masters House 10, Stable Wing 16. All bedrooms are non-smoking and have WiFi access, 24-hour room service, complimentary parking, hair dryers, ironing facilities, new flatscreen TVs with international channels, complimentary toiletries, and tea and coffee making facilities.

Stayed here as part of a coach party 8th to 12th August: Pros: The rooms were clean and comfortable although more consideration could have been given to the allocation of rooms with regard to peoples ages and requests, eg; one of the senior members of the tour group was allocated a room on the third floor in the eaves of the hotel where there was no lift available. People were allocated walk in showers when they hadn’t requested them and those who had requested them didn’t get one. Reception dealt efficiently with our request for a bath mat which hadn’t been provided, although at the same time (9th August) we did report the trouser press was hanging from the wall and this was still the case when we left on Friday. The hotel is in a beautiful location and the setting is stunning. Cons: Mealtimes: We were treated like second class citizens, moved from room to room dinner in one room and breakfast in another with no allocation of a seating plan which meant on a few occasions parties of 3 and even a couple were told to sit separately. (The instruction was there are enough seats just sit on one of them) We had to pre order our evening meal for the following day before we had even been served that days evening meal, and they were unable at that stage to tell us what the soup of the day might be? We have had to pre order on previous trips at other hotels but this has always been either the following morning or after dinner has been served. Unable to order any drinks with our evening meal as we were informed that we were not A-la-Carte. If we wanted drinks we were told go to the bar and bring it in. Unfortunately, there wasn’t time to do this as we got back to the hotel around 5ish dinner was 6.30 and there was only one member of staff on the bar and service was extremely slow. We realise he was new and training but he should have had someone with him until fully trained. The majority of staff that waited on us in the evening appeared untrained, with unused cutlery being collected from tables for use the following day without being washed. On one occasion we had to ask for cups and saucers for the tea and coffee serving and the waitress brought these but handled the spoons by the bowl not the handle. This is unacceptable with Covid still being around. Cold desserts were served on hot plates melting chocolate and sorbet. Evening meals were taking between 2 and 2hours 30 mins which is not acceptable for a pre ordered 3 course meal. Bar in the evening: Again slow service with preference being given to other guests, the barman’s knowledge of drinks was non existent, (didn't know what a bitter lemon was, and had to be told that Martell was Brandy!). And there was a lack of appropriate glassware. We have to say we have never known coach parties to be treated differently by hotel staff in the way we were at this hotel. We appreciate that arrangements such as pre ordering meals etc. have to be made and that sometimes separate areas are needed for guests but the sarcasm and communication from the person who seemed to be in charge at mealtimes was really not acceptable. It reminded us of Faulty Towers and Basil. We were not the only people from our group who were unhappy and I see from a previous review that someone the week before on a coach tour felt the same way. Second Class Citizens in the restaurants with service like school dinners. And to top it all the pool is still not open.

One complaint the room 15 was right next to the air conditioning unit which was very noisy. As it was very hot and we had to keep the wine Dow’s closed due to the noise it made the room hot although there was a fan. Also didn’t like the blacked out windows so you could not see out. Understand why because of the ugly units but not ideal.

nice room pity the spa facilities were not available

one night business trip , i only booked this hotel because of the leisure facilities and this is the 2nd occasion the leisure area was out of action within the last 12 months as the manager told me it is being refurbished, but it should be highlighted on the hotel website or any other third party booking agent.

Good but some disappointments

Overall the hotel was good and as I would expect however we were only advised the pool was closed for renovation after we had checked in and gone to our room - despite booking over 3 months in advance I was not notified by email and there was nothing on the website or when I did online check in. There was also an issue with having no hot water at certain times of the day. Neither of these issues can be blamed on Covid.
