« Never disappointed such a good stay »

I had a few extra needs this time taking my brother to hospital, but of course reception in particular were fantastic and smoothed the whole thing for us. special thanks to them for Tues and Wednesday.

On checking in i was told the hotel was over booked and that a room had been secured for me at the Apex hotel Then, rather strangely, when I said I wasn't happy about that I was told I could actually stay in the room I had booked. So, not a great start. I would descride te room as OK. It could do with new windows and a better clean but otherwise what I'd expecct.

We stay at the Francis hotel at least once a year and always enjoy the experience- there was a small issue of the window lock not opening in our room - I cannot be the only person who prefers to have a little fresh air in my room overnight- otherwise lovely as usual.

« Disappointing. Website and pictures oversell the reality »

Staff are friendly - but bottom line it is overpriced and under delivers. The website and room photos oversell the experience. Much nicer options abound (in London / Stratford upon Avon and a Cheltenham) at same price point. We loved Bath - but probably won’t return to McGallery

« A very comfortable and central place to stay. »

We arrived very early and although check in wasn’t until 2pm there was a room available for us. Parking was a bonus although £17.50 seemed expensive for residents. We had a newly refurbished room which was lovely. We ate in the restaurant that night and was very disappointed as the food was stone cold. They took the wine off the bill. Therefore we ate at a local pub the following night. Breakfast was lovely with a huge choice. Overall a good hotel and the staff were very helpful.

« Lovely hotel - few issues with restaurant and bar »

My sister and I came to stay for the weekend to visit her son who is studying at university. The check-in staff were friendly and efficient and we loved the decor of the hotel. The room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was excellent. We also enjoyed a meal in the restaurant - good food. However, there were lots of mistakes with the bill - firstly we were given another table's bill, then our bill arrived with 9 billings for sauces, salads and french fries (when there were just 3 of us). Clearly, someone had inputted the order incorrectly into the till! This was eventually sorted out. We retired to the bar and had an upleasant encounter with a very rude barman. We spoke to the manager at the hotel who sent the bar manager over. She apologised, but perhaps didn't have the most professional attitude, describing the barman as "her brother from another mother". This episode in the bar on the second night of our stay did put a dampener on what was otherwise a lovely weekend.

« Vry small room 316 »

we were given a very small room 316, the wardrobe door hung open obscuring one side of the bed. the room was not clean and debris was visible on the carpet. The staff found us another room and when we returned to the hotel after dinner, it was only chance that some one heard us chatting in the bar and advised us they had found th eother room. we then moved our suitcases etc after midnight into a much better room. Not impressed at all. for £257 i would expect a lot nicer and at least a clean room. 316 is not worth that money.

Lovely exterior. Nice lobby and bar area. The BB restaurant was excellent. The room was very poor for nearly £300. Overpriced. Felt like a budget room offer. No heated towel rails so cold damp towels in the morning. No additional water for the coffee machine. Minimal coffee pods so no second cup of coffee. We skipped breakfast although as it was provided by BB at an additional £30 probably would have been good.
