Great location, in the heart of Bath! Hotel and staff were lovely but our room was in the basement and it had damp smell and we’re looking over the bins and car parking. Breakfast wasn’t worth £20. Sausages and bacon weren’t of the great quality. Served filter coffee which was charged about £4.50. Definitely was expecting better quality especially as it has a lots of little cafes and restaurants in the area which offer fresher and more exciting menus. Was very surprised that didn’t offer cappuccino or late on the menu.

Once again stayed here as daughter is at university in Bath. Top floor room, lovely. Shower overflows onto floor. Vanity set not replaced after use. Breakfast not warm enough.

Good stay let down by small issues

Had a good stay very good service generally, rather let down by restaurant service at breakfast and dinner. There were parts of orders missing had to keep re asking for them. If you do not like Moroccan food best to dine outside of hotel. Still waiting for my bill which was promised to be e-mailed to me. Have sent three e-mails to date, still not arrived!

poor hotel for the price

check in was ok - couldn’t find one of our rooms on the booking, but when i showed the confirmation email, a room was found, and we were upgraded. wouldn’t like to see the standard room as the upgraded room had drawer fronts hanging off, sheet on the bed was crumpled, and bathroom was configured so you couldn’t get into the shower (over the bath type) without having to brush your legs across the toilet - why put a bath in such a small space is anyone guess. went out in the evening and returned to the hotel at 11:15 for a night cap in the bar. at this time, it seems the hotel has decided that they can only serve a limited selection of drinks : house red, house white or a bottle of beer. nothing else. barman was banging around and cleaning up, making it really clear his day was over and you were making him late for home. we didn’t have a drink needless to say. all in all, very poor for the price - which was as much as we paid the night before at a truly 5* hotel in bath.

A lot of double charging going on and inclusive breakfast limited to £20 with very expensive choices

Bathroom not as pictures on website - superior room shows a bath tub and we only got a very small bathroom with no bathtub. Breakfast was disappointing- we booked inclusive breakfast only to be given a letter informing us that we were limited to £20 only and menu we felt was limited and very expensive. £4.50 for little glass of orange juice, £6.50 for a small fruit bowl etc. We have never experienced this in our lives.

We enjoyed the bar and the fact that’s it’s open 24 hours. Room was nice. Little bit small for the price. Was disappointed that it hadn’t seemed to have been dusted before we arrived. Restaurant was good quality and had a nice atmosphere

I had only a brief one night stay but was given a lovely quiet room facing the car park (I prefer this over a noisy front). Room was spacious and bed was extremely comfortable. Staff was efficient and friendly downstairs. I'll stay again. The location is brilliant especially for the theatre, and having parking in Bath is a true bonus. My only issue was the dirty water glass in the bathroom. I'd be shocked by this at any time, but now? It still had the toothpaste in the bottom. How was this not seen?

We have stayed in the Francis Hotel many times. We always enjoy our stay. The staff are always friendly, professional and efficient as they were during our last stay. The rooms had been refurbished to a high standard during Lockdown. The restaurant has changed from Blanc to Moroccan and is excellent.

Parking was a problem -- it might be worth allocating a drop off/pick up luggage area.

The hotel was well located with amazing decor. The staff were very lovely and welcoming and everything ran very smoothly. It was a bonus that we could check in early on arrival. However, the hotel was very loud at night and both my partner and I did not sleep well on both nights of the stay. There were constant doors banging even in the small hours of the night and we struggled to get a good nights sleep. We were so tired on the third day of our stay that we decided to leave Bath early and get home to bed! Apart from the sleep quality, we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

The hotel was spotless and adhered to all Covid rules. All staff were friendly , polite and helpful. The breakfasts were delicious. A lovely touch of providing a platter of sweet desserts and a designer postcard for our anniversary. Our room was delightful too. Two great stays here and we look forward to a third!

This is a favourite hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff (even in these weird times), a great location in a great city and quirkily decorated with a strong independent hotel feel. Love it and look forward to returning soon.

The Francis Hotel is a splendid hotel , with a warm welcome and Covid secure. The reception staff and housekeeping staff were very helpful, working under difficult circumstances and are to be commended.We really enjoyed the room service and breakfast in the bar area .
