The guy in reception did not smile once or give eye contact when talking to me so I couldn't understand him much. Did not help me get my suit case out the car and made me carry it up the stairs. the overall greeting into the hotel was sour and off putting. I will not be staying there again.

Stayed in a suite as needed the extra room to allow two people to work. Plenty of space and good kitchenette facilities so would be suitable for a young family to share too. The area round about is a bit seedy. Polite staff. A bit noisy at nighttime.

Mix up with parking fees which as yet is unresolved Staff especially Sundays were fantastic, other days customer service was lacking Room was great the best we had in SA Signage to hotel is lacking Breakfast was expensive. However it left a lot to be desired "hot food"was at a less than hot temp and That food safety issue in itself made the decision easy to go try and a cafe open for breakfast

« Good, basic hotel. Friendly staff, but a few quirks »

The first impression was great. The staff was extremely welcoming, helpful and nice. There were a few small issues that I noticed during my stay: I was staying there alone and had 2 keycards. That was useful because I could use one to power the plugs while I was away to charge my notebook. Sometimes however the room service would remove the keycard from the holder and I had to go back to the reception to get a new one. I understand that this is not the way keycards are intended to be used, but still - just telling me this should not be done rather than removing it without notice would have been nicer. The bathroom was a bit of a downer. The shower head was non-movable, which made it feel like a youth hostel rather than a star-hotel. Also, the toilet did not have a toilet brush in the room, which meant it was constantly dirty and I could not clean it myself and had to wait for the room service every time. The AC was constantly on and the room was too cold. The remote for it didn't work, and upon inquiry, the staff told me to just open the lid and turn it off manually. That worked and the room was much warmer and more quiet afterwards, but still - maybe fix the remote? Also, the plugs in the wall near the bedroom were *just a little* too far away for use with a typical USB cable to charge the phone from the bedside table. Maybe supply a multiplug for you guests in the future? Also annoying: The main entrance is only reachable by stairs. This was inconvenient for me as I had a huge and heavy suitcase. I wonder how people with disabilities are expected to access the hotel though. A few good words at the end though: Even though there was construction going on on the ground floor, and the hotel is located right next to the nightlife center of the city, my room was really quiet and I got excellent sleep (as far as my jetlag permitted). Also reachability from the bus station and closeness to the conference center are a definite plus.

« Unfortunately my experience at the Rockford was extremely underwhelming. »

Due to the refurbishment works, which I absolutely understand will create some impacts, from the moment I walked in to the temporary lounge / bar area, to the moment I checked out (one day early - I wasn't staying another night), the whole experience was unpleasant. At check in, the staff member greeted our group like he didn't want us there. No welcome, no details on breakfast / dinner arrangements, no details offered on gym arrangements, no comment on the construction work disruption. Combined with the plastic, rubbish, plasterboard and workmen everywhere, the scene was chaotic. No recognition of my Accorhotels membership. The main lift was shut off. We followed printed signs tacked to plastic sheeting to a service lift. My room was a pleasant surprise. Large, clean, and nicely presented. A bit old and worn (compared to the Pullman where I usually stay), which I understand. The room was perfectly usable and comfortable though. However, the doors / walls let in a significant amount of noise, and next door's TV kept me awake until well after midnight. Didn't eat breakfast the next morning in the hotel. Coming back for the second night, as works had continued and more areas opened up, the impact was less severe but still disruptive. Bar staff were friendly and professional. Room was still noisy that night. Had breakfast at the hotel. No complaints, but staff member was feeling the pressure (of 4 guests) and very unfriendly / unhelpful. Changed flights out of Adelaide to one day earlier, so our group didn't have to spend another night there. I understand that refurbishment works are necessary and will improve the hotel, but I question the decision to leave the hotel operational for this couple of days. I have two over riding memories: the complete lack of interest from the staff member who checked us in, any form of engagement or acknowledgement that work was going on. And a different staff member explaining to a mother with a young baby in a pram that she couldn't use the access ramp to reception, as the entrance had been temporarily relocated to access through the bar deck - stairs. He then walked off and I offered to help the lady up the stairs with the pram. Not what I have come to expect from Accor.

« Very disappointing »

Very disappointing to say the least, was not informed of all the renovations and we booked months ago. No pool, also not informed, No bar or restaurant on the Sunday or Monday on our first weekend and when I inquired as to why the gentleman behind the desk just shrugged his shoulders at me. Woken at 7.30 in the mornings to the sounds of people drilling or cutting into concrete, sounded like they were coming into the room.

Poor. A building site for reception with dusty impact over the whole reception area. Noisy 1st floor room facing a brick wall. Bed while comfortable for 1 had distinct separation point. Nice to have ipod charger available. small bathroom, poor standard of finish, tarnished mirror, old extractor fan port simply bogged up, very uncomfortable toilet, mould in tile grouting.

The hotel is undergoing some extensive renovations but the staff make it all work. Certainly no noise issues or anything that didn't work. The rooms are quite generous and modern. The bar and meals area is good also. Look forward to seeing what it looks like when it it'll finished.

Nothing on the booking mentioned that the place was under renovation. Only way of knowing was to check out the main page. I just wanted to book a room as knew hotel so did not see. No pool as example.

We booked this hotel for an 8 day trip to Adelaide, partially because of its proximity to the centre of the city, and also because some rooms had a spa (husband was playing in the Adelaide Masters Games). What I liked: -Room size -Friendly staff -Water pressure -Opportunity to get ‘bar credit’ by forgoing daily room servicing What I didn’t like: -Location. To get to Rundle Mall, you had to ‘run the gauntlet’; a block of rowdy pubs and strip clubs. -Renovation. Rooms are badly in need of repair (poor paint patch job), old and worn furniture, layers of dust on skirting boards (looks like they haven’t been cleaned for weeks). -Noise. Could clearly hear people in a neighboring room, could hear the water gushing through the pipes when other rooms were having a shower Due to the location, I would not stay here again. Proximity to pubs and strip clubs was not pleasant.

The restaurant is great with a nice offering of food and beverages. Renovations at a hotel are always tricky but the hotel is dated and in a slightly "seedy" end of Adelaide. The staff tried hard and were helpful but they operating under a difficult situation with the renovations. The area is noisy and populated with bars, "gentlemen's clubs" and the like so it is not a great location for families. We appreciated our room upgrade and the helpful staff but wouldn't consider this hotel again unless the revamp is really special.
